the good, the bad, and the ugly. i will say what i did like about this place. my husband and i drove by and were instantly intrigued. as we walked in we were pleased because it was beyond charming. when we came out onto the patio i have to say we thought it one of the most inviting places this side of the metroplex. a true little gem tucked under beautiful trees - or so we thought. the waitress was friendly but it took awhile to get our drinks, which was not a really big deal, that happens and we understand, but it got worse. i ordered a panini but did not want the meat on it, so i asked for extra, extra cheese (totally imagining a pressed sandwich on good warm bread full of gooey cheese). what i got was two pieces of cool bread with slight grill marks - and one thin slice of cheese. one! the cheese was topped with a sprinkling of bagged arugala. the price $11.00!! the beer was cold so that was good and the patio was beyond pleasant, but $11.00?? our sides were nasty and obviously out of a can. an old can. the owner was over at a large table and when we told the waitress how nice theplacewas (before the $11.00 piece of cheese i got for dinner), she went over to tell the owner how much we liked it. the owner looked at us sideways and with no acknowledgement other than a glance, turned his back to us and started to talk a table of what appeared to be friends of his.i don't know where the owner is from, but i would bet dimes to donuts it is not from texas or any other southern state. rude treatment down here does not fly. we treat strangers like friends and let people know we appreciate them. just look for the chicago based sandwich deli that lasted 4 months in watauga because they treated people the same way - it was good, but it did not last because basically, the owners were rude and unappreciative. it pays to know about regional differences and who your audience is.my dog's veternarian, groomer, and my personal physician all house in keller and all have been to manny's - and have come back with bad reviews that closely matched ours.when we got the check that night we were there, we were mortified. the service was passable (and we tipped over 20%). food was not good and hideously over-priced. we thought the owner was aloof and rude.my husband and i eat 70% of our meals in restaurants and spend a large amount of money each month just doing that because we enjoy it so. we will not be back to manny's. if our experience was just a glitch and not common, we would roll wih it. by talking to friends, co-workers, and reading this site, i do not think our experience was an isolated one.
