mandolin aegean bistro

one of the famous restaurants in miami in terms of their food. everytimei go there with friends . they too appreciate its quality food and serving.

great atmosphere. firsttimegoing here for an early dinner before heading to a show. although they take reservations, i called the morning of and they were booked, but they said since we were coming early that we wouldn't have a problem as walk ins. we arrived at 6:30 and were seated right away. as we sat it really filled up, and by thetimewe left it was full. reservations are recommended! this is such a cute place and larger than i thought. most ding i'd outside in a garden area, but there is inside dining too. the shared samplers are generous portions and yummy, more than enough for 5 to share. for mains three of us had the chicken kabobs (excellent!). the moussaka was disappointing, not so good. the pasta dish seemed like all the ingredients of the moussaka just assembled differently. the shared baklava was perfect. all in all some hits and some misses, but we will certainly try again.

first experience === excellent. after much deliberation, research and reading of local restaurant reviews, i decided to take my girlfriend of 3 years to mandolin for her birthday last night. was our firsttimechecking out this bistro, and it did not disappoint. everything we ordered (apps: meatballs and turkish sampler; mains: pasta with bechamel sauce and chicken kebabs) was cooked and seasoned expertly, and the portions were surprisingly large for the swanky feel of the spot.

and that does not even touch on the ambiance of the restaurant, which, in and of itself, is a reason to go here if you haven't been before. despite almost every table being full, we had a very intimate, romantic and seemingly private dining experience. the wait staff was very attentive without being annoying, and the atmosphere and attitudes were very laid back despite being an upscale bistro. as a side note, it was also nice to look around the back patio area and see some familiar celebrity faces, including miami restauranteur and famed actor, michael caine.

one final note --- make a reservation. if you just show up, don't complain about getting a table off to the side or having to wait. heard two people griping and did not feel bad one bit. this is a quality restaurant so treat it like one...

will definitely recommend this restaurant and will definitely go again. currently, takingtimeaway from my busy life as a miami attorney solely to post this review. people need to know! hope this was as helpful as the many reviews i read prior to going.

mix feelings. today was our firsttimethere. to enter you have to go to the side door where there was no one to greet you or seat you. finally the hostess came, she seemed angry, or in a bad mood. the same thing happened to other people who came in....there were wondering if it was a private parte...no hostess present. our server was good. the octopus and calamari great. the salmon, steak and chicken good..but the pasta dish i had..ummmm i had better macaroni and cheese from a box...do not have. i will definitely return for the octopus. and if i find the same angy hostess i will speak to the manager.

felt i was in mykonos!. such a cozy and super romantic restaurant!!! the food delicious and the service great! loved everything about the experience. mediterranean food is my alltimefavorite.
i totally recommend.
