this is such a local (and wonderful) institution that you kind of hate it when the new york times, in their 72 hour guide to oakland, lists it as a place not to be missed! i, personally, never come here on the weekend unless i can get here right when they open because i hate waiting that long. luckily, they are one of the few eastbaybreakfast spots that are open on mondays. in my opinion, their home fries are the best anywhere - just the right combination of crunch & smooth, and great seasoning, if sometimes a bit too salty. i love their omelettes - fluffy with generous amounts of filling, great blueberry muffins and, one of my favorites, the veggie jo. gotta go, my food's here and getting cold!
