great view...blah food. the place is beautiful. great if you're just wanting drinks. the beans were too salty to eat as were the chips which is surprising considering how much i love salt. i asked the waiter for unsalted chip because they do that at ted's and he said it would be nearly impossible. that tells me they're not fresh, simply warmed up. why pay $10 for their "street tacos" when i can get the same item (mexican tacos) at the same price at ted's and ted's uses steak instead of deep fried shredded beef. btw, shredded beef should not be deep fried. i got a corn tortilla full of burnt little shreds. yuck.

never again!. as i walked into the restaurant, i was immediately skeptical. the cheap, tasteless decor evoked the vibe of your average chain mexican restaurant. while the view of the lake was hard to beat, i could not help but feel as if i were sitting at an on the border.

after waiting fifteen minutes for the virtually nonexistent waiter, i finally ordered the street tacos, hoping to enjoy a "street vendor's special." what came to the table were two flavorless tacos with a side of overly salted black beans. why pay $9.79 for this trash when you could go to tacos san pedro for top-notch tacos at half the price?

tex mex anyone?. i was optimistic when i heard this place was coming but after i went i must say that this is the same old mexican that you can get anywhere in the city. the service was great even though they were slammed but the food and drinks were average at best. the sangria tasted like kool-aid and i thought the prices were a bit expensive for the quality.

waste of time. we went last night and having spent over 8 years in the business that was the worst food, service, and enviroment i have encountered anywhere. would have had a better time at taco bell or some other fast food chain. our server had tables scattered all over so was not able to concentrate her efforts in one are, so the service was very lacking. i guess the whole thing started off wrong when we were taken to a dirty table on the patio. i really did not want to sit outside in 95+ heat with little or no breeze, but we were never given a choice. then we were sat at an unprepared table, that was not even finished being bussed. the band was so loud that i had to yell at my wife for us to even be able to converse. the salsa was below average, and the queso tasted like powered cheese sauce used in mac and cheese. the rest of the food was no better. i felt sorry for the server because the way they had her stationed, there was no way so could effectively take care of her tables. i saw the manager one time all night and prayed that she did not come by our table because i was so impressed with the decore and so disappointed by the execution that it would not have been a pleasant conversation. i hate to say it but i agree with other reviews that if you have to eat on the lake to enjoy red rock or louise.

we were never offered a table either away from the band or inside and by time it was all said and done i ate less than half my food and my wife ate less than that. the rest went home for the dogs, i just hope it doesn't kill them! i can find a lot better place to drop 40 for dinner for two and i promise you that you will not ever see me darken those doors again.

excellent!!!. it was so good! we went on a saturday night and got there about 6:30, expecting to wait at least a hour to sit. we had drinks on the patio, it was beautiful out and the margaritas were amazing! i would say patron all the way, i had three actually. my husband and i tried the perfect and the swirl, very good also. the salsa's were awesome, they had a warm one which was probably my favorite! we tried the habero also, it had great flavor. within 30 mins we were buzzed for our table, we bth shared the fajitas, they were the steak and chicken, we got the black beans they were excellent also. they don't give you a ton of meat, but who needs it anyway, so it made it where we weren't miserable full. we then went out on the patio and had a few more drinks and listened to the live singer! he was great, the atmospere inside and out is very nice. i would tell anyone to go to this restaurant! very good!

i have been there twice and have had the worst service i have ever had both times. i would not suggest you go unless you take a bottled drink in and have 3 hours of your life to waste. and make sure you wear a swimsuit because you will sweat in anything else.

average. i've heard awful things and i've heard raves about this place so we set out last night with a group of 10 for a celebratory welcome home dinner for a friend from the east coast. they don't take reservations so we waited for a table for an hour, who knew so many wanted to eat mexican on a tuesday evening?? after being seated in the enclosed patio area with the blinding oklahoma sun facing us we were quickly greeted by our server and he brought water immediately as we looked like we were all melting. drinks from the bar came next and the margaritas were good - not exceptional - and the beers were lukewarm, not icy cold as you really want on a hot oklahoma day. took him awhile to get back to us to order our food but he finally did and we got a variety of items: queso, tortilla soup, flautas, enchiladas, taco salad, burritos. the food was a little slow in arriving but most everyone seemed to enjoy what they ordered - i had the ground beef enchiladas and they were good, not over the top to die for good, but just good. the rice however leaves alot to be desired - it's very gummy and kind of cold. the queso was good - what's not to like about cheese?? another guest at our table had cheese enchiladas and he made the comment that his tasted like tortillas rolled around velveeta cheese...so now we know to avoid those. all in all the food was average. what was horrible was the heat in the restaurant. we were on the west side facing the lake in the enclosed patio area and it was miserably hot, our waiter had sweat pouring down his face (not a lovely thought when he's serving your food) and one guest at our table who had on shorts could barely move because he was so stuck to the seat!! they really need to install some type of shade to help combat the heat as it's only going to get worse over the next couple of months. will we go back? probably, but it will need to be in the cooler months! not sure i'd recommend this place to out of towners, there are way better mexican restaurants in okc - ted's, la luna for example.

don't waste your time!. everything started out ok. the salsas were decent and they brought out an interesting tomatilla avacodo cream sauce as well as complimentary tortillas. we ordered guacamole and it consisted of more tomatoes than avacados. i ordered a margarita with no salt - it came out with salt on the rim...not a huge deal, but annoying.

i ordered the #1 (ckn ench, chz ench, beef taco). i asked that the chicken enchilada come with queso instead of sour cream sauce. when i recieved my order, the chicken enchilada was correct but they put queso on the cheese enchilada (when they should have put chili sauce on it). the taco was swimming in the pool of queso, so, needless to say, it was soggy. when they brought out the new taco and cheese enchilada, this time the taco was swimming in a pool of grease. the cheese enchilada was fine (except it tasted like velveeta cheese). the one bite i took of the taco was awful. i have had better tacos at taco bueno.

my husband ordered the #2 (street taco, ckn ench, bf ench, chz ench). they also messed up his sauce requests. when they brought out his replacement enchilada - it had the wrong sauce on it again.

i definitely understand mistakes...but this was mistake after mistake after mistake. to top it all off, the server was absent for the majority of our meal. when we received our tab, we expected to at least have our appetizer comped. nothing had been taken off of our bill. my husband and i both have worked in the restaurant industry for a combined total of 12 years. we rarely complain and rarely expect to receive something for free. this was our 2nd wedding anniversary and were extremely disappointed that we wasted our evening on such a poor dining experience. we complained to the manager, expressed our frustration, and she took care of our meal. while we are grateful for this, we will never return. i would recommend trying one of the other delicious mexican restaurants in okc.

fantastic!. this is a new favorite place! celebrated my brother's birthday at mama's this past saturday. arrived at 5 - perfect time - 10 mins later there was a huge line to be seated. i recommend sitting on the patio. beautiful view. the waiter was a little reserved in the beginning, but after a while warmed up and did a fabulous job. we were literally there for 5 hours - great drinks, great food, great live music. yes the sun will be in your eyes depending on where you sit on the patio, but wear sunglasses. it's worth it to sit out there. everyone was very nice and we had a fabulous time. we will definitely come back, often! good job mama roja!!

love mama's!. i have been to mama roja's three times now and i have not been disappointed yet. the views and decor are wonderful and the staff is very friendly. i think the chips are great - thinner, salty and warm! they brought us each two salsas and then said there are three more salsas available for free, they just do not bring them out to everyone. try these! the avacado-y one is my favorite and the haberno is great for those who like a kick. i have split the chicken & steak fajitas (with beans and rice) everytime and they are great. the meat is not fatty and there is plenty of it. toritllas were average, but the loaded queso is a must try! yes, you have to pay for it - but it is well worth it (i think $8) - so good!!!! i also have tried a "swirl margarita" and was pleased. my favorite mexican in okc!
