safe to say this is the best laksa in sydney. a good balance between the coconut milk and the chillies. their rice and fried noodles are very good too.

•busy at lunch with plenty of seats and service is quick
•seafood laksa - honestly not the best i have had, flavours a bit bland but the soup base was great
•hainan chicken - rice was chicken rice (yummy!) but the chicken was also a bit bland, the malay place under westpac in north sydney has much better chicken as a comparison.

its just ok ... after reading all the reviews about this restaurant , my partner and i decided to go there for dinner after work .. the restaurant close at 7.30pm.

we ordered the famous laksa and the 'char kweu tiaw' .. the laksa is better than average malaysian restaurant in sydney and the 'char kweu tiaw' is just alright..

the food is cheap and big portion.. total we only pay around $20 .

i didn't really like to be honest because it is too oily and i felt bloated after dinner ..

you know i am fussy xoxo

this place is top notch.

i ordered a chicken laksa and it was delivered before my friend's order was even taken. the soup was creamy and rich, though not quite decadent. the chicken pieces were fairly succulent, which is fantastic as it is often overcooked in soups. overall, it was a very hearty and satisfying meal. i can't wait to try the skinless chicken laksa and their hainanese chicken rice (which, as we all know, is the true measure of a quality establishment - not some tobacco scrounged from saruman's pantry).
in terms of service and ambiance, my friend made a remark that the restaurant looked very legitimately malaysian, especially the chairs, which were particularly authentic. we must accept this judgement as truth for the speaker went to malaysia just last month and is, i believe, a chair expert.
then again, my friend ordered a tap water (which is always room temperature) and remarked that it wasn't cold so ... i'll let you decide what you believe.

also, they kind of wanted to rush us out a bit but if you are served quickly, it's fair enough to leave quickly.

visit this store for a quick and satisfying meal on a busy day!

we all got laksas as this is their most famous dish. the food came out in 10 seconds and it was a big bowl. the broth is really nice! my favourite part is the tofu, it had fully absorbed the broth and was really delicious!

loved it!

popped into this place at 1pm today and it was very busy! plenty of seating in the restaurant, however, during the lunch peak there was not a single seat in sight which was a promising sign of how good their food was going to be. i ordered a chicken laksa and it was ready for me shortly after paying for it at the counter. the laksa soup was coconut curry based and was very flavoursome and had the right amount of spice. my partner ordered a mongolian beef with rice and i did not enjoy this dish as much. i highly recommend if you come here to order a laksa! only reason i did not rate this a 5 is due to the lack of chicken in the soup. besides that it was spot on. reasonably priced as well. would definitely come back in the future.

please note: this restaurant is cash only!

as people say, it is one of the best laksa in sydney.

also, very quick service. you don’t wait at all for laksa, it is basically “ready to go”, but the soup is hot.

i must mention that their char kway teow is amazing too. although there is no pipi is in the dish, it is flavoursome. i share laksa and kway teow with my husband occasionally, and always rating “the best kway teow in sydney”!

judging by the colourful menu, it was quite obvious that their malaysian speciality is laksa! and i love laksa. especially when it’s freezing. and you wanna warm up. coz sydney weather really sucks now.

friday lunch time, before you can even walk inside, you'll see the massive queue out the door blocking the front of 3 other shops before it. that is the line to order which goes all the way inside to the counter at the back. this is obviously popular! don't be deterred, the queue moves & i got to the front to order in about 15 mins, then about 5-10mins for the food. you have to be quick to nab a seat as people leave. it really isn't a place to linger anyway. the laksa is probably the best i had in sydney. good spice in curry base, not sweet, decent size pieces of seafood. most definitely worth the time & hassles.

i had the chicken laksa; it was big which exactly what i needed. the broth was nice but there was a lack of veg and chicken. friend had the chow mein which was very average.

at last we try the famous har mee at malaysian chinese takeaway in hunter street, city. we love the canteen vibe of this place. we thought the menu here wasn't exciting but it's the daily specials are the drawcard for us: monday is tom yum with chicken, prawns, calamari and mushrooms tuesday is har mee - prawn noodle soup wednesday is nasi lemak thursday is lum mee - fish soup with egg noodles, chicken, prawns friday & saturday is har mee we are recent converts to the religion of har mee: prawn noodle soup made with prawn stock, two types of noodles, prawns, pork and whatever. we heard the har mee here is one of the best in town. we liked it though it didn't blow our little minds like the har mee at singapore shiok with it's fresh super prawnie stock. we just love the taste and texture of two types of noodle in one soup. we also tried some chicken satays on the side: big chunks of chicken with a very sweet peanut sauce. malaysian chinese takeway has been doing their thing for over 20 y

i've tried the chicken laksa here a number of times, reputedly one of the best in sydney. other dishes that i have tried include the chicken noodle soup. the chicken laksa was quite good with a nice and creamy soup base which was extremely flavoursome. of course it was a little greasy and oily but that's almost expected in laksas. the noodles were fresh and the chicken portions were generous and had a soft texture.

the service was more along the lines of a quick turnaround outlet but still more than acceptable. the setting is quite basic but that is basically in keeping with the character of the place. prices are reasonable and it's one of the best places for chicken laksa in sydney as far as i'm aware.

probably the worst laksa i've had in a while, the soup is just yellow coloured water laced with an incredible amount of msg additive. you can't even smell the coconut cream in it, nor taste the complex flavours of laksa paste. all there is in the soup is heavy amount of msg, guaranteed to make anyone thirsty after drinking a few spoonful. they don't provide table water either cos they wanna make sure they get as many thirsty customers paying extra for drinks. dodgy! will never return.
