an enjoyable evening. iorderedan asheville nc reisling because i'd never tasted north carolina wine and a grilled tuna with string beans and rice. the pairing was perfect! the wine was sweet with enough edge to contrast the tuna and the delicious ginger/soy sauce on the beans. dessert and coffee was a real treat. i was presented with a choice of 6 small taste desserts (are these called verrines?) and chose strawberry shortcake and lemon mousse.

i've tried...i really have!. i just don't like the food! i've tried the burger, several times, hoping it would be better each time, but it wasn't. it has been very bland each time. even adding more salt, pepper and ketchup, which i never do, didn't help. the flatbread pizza is shockingly thin. i did enjoy it more than the cheeseburger. the filet was bland too. i don't even remember the sides that iorderedwith that, so they didn't leave much of an impression. the best thing that i have gotten there was the grouper with scallops. that was delicious. i can't remember what my husband has ordered, so again, it did not leave an impression. the atmosphere is nice. the service is hit and miss. we have eaten there several times in the past 6 months, because my husband bought a lot of the half price gift cards last december. i'll be glad when they are gone! speaking of december at the majestic, they do show classic christmas movies on sunday nights....dinner and a movie. there is a special menu, but you can also order off of the regular menu. that's worth doing.

majestic grille is my grandmother's favorite place. it was an old movie theater that got turned into a restaurant. they always have a black and white movie on a projector playing with no sound, but it is still cool. now onto the food. i shared a salmon pizza with my mama. the crust was thin and generously sprinkled with salmon. it had spinach on it which i did not know about. it could have used a light cream sauce. overall it was ok. i would not order it again. dadordereda hanger steak with mashed potatoes. he thought that it was tasty but there were too many potatoes. it could maybe use a few green beans. my grandmotherorderedthe pork tenderloin with carrots, curly onion fries and mashed potatoes. she liked it, it is what she usually orders. if you want a majestic dinning experience go to majestic grille https://www.facebook.com/majesticgrille  . love the cabbage leaf, logan

great place, just don't order filet oscar. i've been to the majestic several times now, and i love it. i've always had great service, and the food has been excellent, except for just one time.

don't order the filet oscar, which is a beef filet, with crab meat and bearnaise sauce. it took forever to get our meal this time around, however, they were busy, so i tried to overlook that. the thing that bothered me about the service was that our waitress never did come back and check on us as we were waiting for our food. after finishing the appetizer, which she didn't bring out, a kitchen staff person did, it then took approximately 30 minutes for our entrees to come out.

my steak was nearly raw, but i couldn't send it back for additional cooking, because it was smothered in bearnaise as if it was southern fried steak and biscuits with gravy. i've never seen a restaurant plate so covered in sauce, and actually, the bearnaise was so thick it was more like a cream or gravy, not the light delicate sauce it is supposed to be. i don't understand how it got past the kitchen expediter. i suspect it hasn't beenorderedvery often, and they're not quite sure how it should be prepared.

i couldn't even see my steak, but when i cut into the lump under the overly thick sauce, it was still fibrous and sinewy, not the medium rare i asked for. i could tell the server knew there was something wrong when she brought the order, because she didn't apologize for the delay, and she pretty much put the plate down in front of me and scurried away, not to be seen again for about 20 minutes, which is when she took my mostly uneaten plate from me. and at that point, she didn't even ask me how it was. she just said, "let me take that out of your way," and hurried off again. she knew.

on the other hand, my dinner partner's seared tuna was excellent and wonderful. the green beans on the dish were what i ended up eating. they were delicious!

like i said, i nearly always enjoy the majestic grille. the atmosphere is hip, attractive, and great for date night. we love going there either before or after a show at the orpheum. but the food they do best is sandwiches, salads, lighter seafood dishes, and the barbecue pizza is to die for. i highly recommend the majestic grille, just avoid the filet oscar.

majestic is a nice versatile place where you can take a date and enjoy a delicious meal to impress or you can take your family of 5 (my story) and your kids and wife finish their meals and still enjoy a bread basket take home (the bread is amazing). great service and great food right on main street so a post dinner walk almost seems natural. a must visit - oh and since it was late i justordereda burger - under 10bucks, well flavored, cooked to a perfect med-rare, best burger in town...perhaps

don't believe the hype. i agree with everyone, the atmosphere is nice but the food....not so great. i ate here for my bday and iordereda steak well done and when i cut into it, blood squirted everyone. i was highly disappointed and the mai tai iorderedwas very watered down. the management was not very attentive to my concerns about my food and even tried to charge me for the food that i didnt eat. i would not recommend this place.

never again! i've had several lackluster meals there but a coworker likes to do lunch at the majestic, so i found myself there again today. iordereda medium well burger, and bit into something a veterinarian could fix! raw meat with the core/stem pieces of tomato and bruised and wilted lettuce. i didn't have time to send the burger back but couldnt eat it either so i just ate my fries. i'm done eating here.

problem solving 101. anticipating a fine dining experience, my dinner mate and i were directed to the majestic grille on our first evening in memphis. a strong odor of fish greeted us on entering the restaurant but we were greeted and seated properly. our waiter was pleasant if not exactly polished but weorderedwine and prepared to sit back and toast in day one in the city. this blissful picture took a quick trip south when an overloaded waiter fell on the landing above our table sending him, his fully-laden tray of meat, french fries, water, wine and a very large bowl of catsup came crashing down upon our heads. it was quite the scene with food, glass and plates came shooting from all directions looking like a bomb site in beruit. i came out of the action with giant gobs of catsup all over my pristine white top and two growing knots on my head from the impact of the tray and broken plates. my mate looked like a mermaid surfacing from a sea of water goblets and wine. we sloshed our way to a safe area while a diligent team attacked the strewn food, mopping, straightening and the like while we stood aside forgotten, forsaken, dripping and food-laden.

the general manager, marla howerton, then approached my dinner mate. ok, bad things do happen but the thinking was that she would quickly and professionally care for us and make it right. this is what she did not do: she did not offer us a seat away from the action, she did not apologize, she did not offer to help us scrape off the food nor dry the water and wine from our clothing, she did not offer to provide nor pay for dry cleaning of our clothing, and she did not ascertain whether we had been hurt; given the amount of broken plates and glass a minor miracle. what she did was provide a business card and said for us to come in some time "on her". asked how that would work if she were not there she replied that she "was always there." and that was it.

you be the judge. is that your idea of how you would like to be treated and is that reflective of a fine dining experience?

absolutely the worst dinning experience i have ever had. if you go after reading this you deserve what you get. we sat immediately. took 20 minute to order drinks. they tried to pull off making an old fashioned with makers mark using an off brand bourbon. 45 minute after ordering the salads came and upon finishing these the waiter asked us what weorderedagain as he couldn't remember. 10 minutes later be returned to inform me they were out of what i ordered. can you say cheese shop? then the manager made no excuses and charged us full price even though i never got food. don't waste your time. too many good places in memphis to go here. joke.

nice experience. the majestic grill was recommended to us by a friend who lives in memphis along with several other very popular, if not touristy destinations. the place was a nice, white table cloth kind of establishment, with friendly service presented in a dark and warm, woody interior. our lunches were competently prepared. the burger ($9), a 1/2 pound portion of flame broiled angus beef was as good as any i've had in recent memory and stood up nicely to medium rare cooking. a seared ahi tuna sandwich ($12), although cooked perfectly medium rare with a wasabi mayo dollop and pickled cucumber relish unfortunately still tasted rather bland . it came with crispy parmesan fries as did all three dishes we ordered. finally, a pork tenderloin panini ($8), was slathered with sweet potato butter and grilled onions and brought smiles to it's chooser. iordereda guinness on tap that came out totally flat. oddly, this is the second time in the last few months this has happened to me with this brew. makes me wonder if some bad kegs went out to memphis and jonesboro, ar area restaurants. another beef of mine had to do with the awful tasting water that was served. i cannot for the life of me condone any restaurant serving water to paying diners that tastes like somebody just drained his pool into your glass. geez, buy a filtering system already - they're cheap enough and they work! earth to restauranteurs: good, fresh clean water really matters. overall, i thought the prices were fair given the restaurant's location right in the heart of downtown. i read that sunday brunch is where they really stand out. i would certainly try them again if i find myself in town on such a morning.

not what i expected. ok. my wife had been to the majestic twice without me for brunch and raved about it. so this time we all went with some family for dinner and a showing of christmas in conn. it was pouring rain and they were not very busy when we arrived. iorderedthe roasted mahi mahi with roasted artichokes on roasted mashed potatoes. i dont remember the description mentioning anything about being smothered with green onions but thats what i got. and that's all i could taste even after scraping off as many as i could get off of my fish. still, green onions was all i got. with the execption of the middle of my mahi being as tough as the sole of my shoe. and my daughter got the parmisian fries. i tasted them right when they came. they were one step away from being cold. good thing my daughter doesnt like fries being warm oherwise i would have sent them back. i also got a draft beer, it was "skunky" smelling... had to be an old keg. we were all going to order a dessert but our waiter dissappeared and was not seen again for about 30 min, not even to refill the water glasses so i cannot rate the dessert as i never ordered. so for me this was in now way an enjoyable experience. ive had better food at ocharlie's and that's not saying much. way over priced for the quality, if any was even there, and the total experience for me was a complete waste of money and time. sure the whole "movie" dinner thing is a neat thing but when the food and service completely sucks the ambiance doesnt mean a hill of beans. that's my take on it.

we went for sunday brunch. i started with the mimosa, and then weorderedbiscuits (apparently complimentary) and for my meal iorderedthe filet mignon benedict and the cheese grits. steak and eggs were perfectly cooked, all of the flavors were delicious, the cheese grits are some of my favorite i've ever had. the roasted potatoes that came with it weren't my favorite, but they tasted fine. our server (kevin i think) was a prime example of a great waiter. i absolutely lived it all, especially for the price!
