majestic is one of my favorite restaurants.  we started off at the bar, where i enjoyed a kettle one martini with a twist.  it was made to perfection. they have a hamburger that is to die for.  i like to order it medium rare.  today, i chose to substitute the wonderful parmesan fries for the sautéed spinach.  i also added bacon and blue cheese to my burger.  nothing is better than beef, bacon, and blue cheese combined. normally, i don't want dessert, butmajestichas these mini shot glass sized desserts for only $2.  i certainly can't resist the perfect size and the perfect price. the tiramisu is my favorite.  majesticis an awesome restaurant in downtown memphis.  if you have not been, you are missing out! posted by andy smithers at 5:50 pm

always lovely. vie been tomajesticwith 3 vastly different groups and purposes. the first was an imoortant meeting with out of town business associates. the second, a large group celebrating a rayjer more formal birthday for our german friends who had just arrived from across the ocean. vie also used majstic for casual lunches.

no matter what, majesticcame through perfect food for the moment and the group. i've noshed on tuna sandwich with pickled cucumber, delicious pork with a light syrup gravy, and had a filet mingion which nearly made me slap the table in delight.

i'll go back anytime! gimme a call and let's go!

our favorite downtown place. we eat at themajesticabout once a month and also before any orpheum show, concert or movie. it has long been one of our favorite places in memphis. the food is always excellent, the ambiance is very nice and the service is usually good. this past two weeks we've been twice before shows. one night we had the fish special (salad, grouper, tomatoes, fingerlings, asparagus, etc. ). we split it and it was great. the next time we had the smoked salmon appetizer and the tomato and basil flatbread. both were really good. the service was prompt and courteous. kudos to themajesticand the reillys for creating and maintaining such a wonderful and consistently good restaurant. we are definitely spoiled!

great food... ...if you get what you ordered. i'll start by saying i love the food at majestic, but that's about the only nice thing i can say.

the service leaves a lot to be desired, especially considering it's a little pricier than surrounding options, though is not enough to kill the experience.

what does kill the experience is an inability for this place to prepare a meal with any deviation from what's on the menu. i can roll with a messed up order or two, but the vast majority of the meals i order from here have to be sent back as items i requested to be held are present (and i have allergies that prevent me from being able to consume them).

even trying to order a "plain" sandwich seems like too tall an order for themajesticto get right. it's a shame, because i enjoy their food, but this being a constant issue has closed my wallet to further patronage.

bad attitude from waitress. my family and i went to themajestictoday after going to the orpheum. we sat outside on the patio. the waitress got our drink order wrong and when we asked her to correct it she brought the new glass and basically slammed it on the table and walked away. she still had not taken our order at this time. five minutes later she came back and took our order. while waiting on our food we asked her if could have some bread. she said in a sarcastic voice,
"ugh no. its too early and its not ready yet" tables next to us who she was also serving had bread. a few minutes later we got our food and still no bread. i asked the food runner and i guess he told her so she finally brought us bread. there were five of us and she only offered refills on our drinks one time but only to two of us who were drinking unsweet tea. the other three of us were drinking sweet tea or water. this was not offered or refilled. she had a very unpleasant attitude and acted like she hated her job and that anything we requested was a bother to her. while the food was good the service was horrible. not sure we will be back anytime soon.

extrememly unprofessional management. we had dinner atmajesticbefore going to the orpheum for my mothers 75th birthday. the server spilled red wine all over my guest. luckily she was wearing black & it did not show. the server grabbed 3 to 4 small beverage napkins, like that is going to help, & handed them to my guest. had she been wearing anything else she would not have been able to attend the phantom at the orpheum. no woman is going to go covered in red wine stains. the manager did come over and offer to dry clean the outfit, but did not offer to comp any of the bill. our total bill was only about $80. i have never written a bad review of an establishment, especially when it was just an accident, but the least thing the manager could have done was comp the check or even half! instead they showed zero class & just apologized and walked off. we will definitely be telling all of our friends and family of our experience & wont be returning to the majestic.

majestic grille is my grandmother's favorite place. it was an old movie theater that got turned into a restaurant. they always have a black and white movie on a projector playing with no sound, but it is still cool. now onto the food. i shared a salmon pizza with my mama. the crust was thin and generously sprinkled with salmon. it had spinach on it which i did not know about. it could have used a light cream sauce. overall it was ok. i would not order it again. dad ordered a hanger steak with mashed potatoes. he thought that it was tasty but there were too many potatoes. it could maybe use a few green beans. my grandmother ordered the pork tenderloin with carrots, curly onion fries and mashed potatoes. she liked it, it is what she usually orders. if you want amajesticdinning experience go tomajesticgrille https://www.facebook.com/majesticgrille  . love the cabbage leaf, logan

yum! i really enjoyed my meal atmajesticgrille. the food was fresh and well done. we started with the flat bread and artichoke dip, both of which were superb. i can highly recommend the tuna with green beans and ginger as a main. the only aspect i didn't rate highly was the waldorf salad - the dressing was overbearing and too sweet. service was also great.

great place, just don't order filet oscar. i've been to themajesticseveral times now, and i love it. i've always had great service, and the food has been excellent, except for just one time.

don't order the filet oscar, which is a beef filet, with crab meat and bearnaise sauce. it took forever to get our meal this time around, however, they were busy, so i tried to overlook that. the thing that bothered me about the service was that our waitress never did come back and check on us as we were waiting for our food. after finishing the appetizer, which she didn't bring out, a kitchen staff person did, it then took approximately 30 minutes for our entrees to come out.

my steak was nearly raw, but i couldn't send it back for additional cooking, because it was smothered in bearnaise as if it was southern fried steak and biscuits with gravy. i've never seen a restaurant plate so covered in sauce, and actually, the bearnaise was so thick it was more like a cream or gravy, not the light delicate sauce it is supposed to be. i don't understand how it got past the kitchen expediter. i suspect it hasn't been ordered very often, and they're not quite sure how it should be prepared.

i couldn't even see my steak, but when i cut into the lump under the overly thick sauce, it was still fibrous and sinewy, not the medium rare i asked for. i could tell the server knew there was something wrong when she brought the order, because she didn't apologize for the delay, and she pretty much put the plate down in front of me and scurried away, not to be seen again for about 20 minutes, which is when she took my mostly uneaten plate from me. and at that point, she didn't even ask me how it was. she just said, "let me take that out of your way," and hurried off again. she knew.

on the other hand, my dinner partner's seared tuna was excellent and wonderful. the green beans on the dish were what i ended up eating. they were delicious!

like i said, i nearly always enjoy themajesticgrille. the atmosphere is hip, attractive, and great for date night. we love going there either before or after a show at the orpheum. but the food they do best is sandwiches, salads, lighter seafood dishes, and the barbecue pizza is to die for. i highly recommend themajesticgrille, just avoid the filet oscar.

awesome wedding reception venue. i have eaten lunch here and it is one cool place. what really impressed me was their catering job for a wedding reception. the highly trained staff were professional-almost invisible. the menu offered good options, all of which were well received. the servers acted like they enjoyed their jobs and took care of every request. most importantly, at a wedding several months later, many of my peers were still talking about how great the event was atmajesticand how other wedding events they attended could not hold up to majestic. good job guys!

problem solving 101. anticipating a fine dining experience, my dinner mate and i were directed to themajesticgrille on our first evening in memphis. a strong odor of fish greeted us on entering the restaurant but we were greeted and seated properly. our waiter was pleasant if not exactly polished but we ordered wine and prepared to sit back and toast in day one in the city. this blissful picture took a quick trip south when an overloaded waiter fell on the landing above our table sending him, his fully-laden tray of meat, french fries, water, wine and a very large bowl of catsup came crashing down upon our heads. it was quite the scene with food, glass and plates came shooting from all directions looking like a bomb site in beruit. i came out of the action with giant gobs of catsup all over my pristine white top and two growing knots on my head from the impact of the tray and broken plates. my mate looked like a mermaid surfacing from a sea of water goblets and wine. we sloshed our way to a safe area while a diligent team attacked the strewn food, mopping, straightening and the like while we stood aside forgotten, forsaken, dripping and food-laden.

the general manager, marla howerton, then approached my dinner mate. ok, bad things do happen but the thinking was that she would quickly and professionally care for us and make it right. this is what she did not do: she did not offer us a seat away from the action, she did not apologize, she did not offer to help us scrape off the food nor dry the water and wine from our clothing, she did not offer to provide nor pay for dry cleaning of our clothing, and she did not ascertain whether we had been hurt; given the amount of broken plates and glass a minor miracle. what she did was provide a business card and said for us to come in some time "on her". asked how that would work if she were not there she replied that she "was always there." and that was it.

you be the judge. is that your idea of how you would like to be treated and is that reflective of a fine dining experience?

keeping it real. my girlfriend and i ate at themajesticthis past friday evening. we sat out on the patio and enjoyed the great weather, some drinks and live music. our waiter was hustling and took good care of all of us on the patio. i had the roasted half chicken while she enjoyed the roasted mahi. both were excellent dishes and reasonably priced. although we didn't sit inside, we checked it out during trips to the restroom. the decor and ambiance are top notch with keeping the theatre theme. i like it when restaurants open up in old establishments and keep the original theme going. themajesticgrille is a great example of that.
