service was a++ and food was absolutely yum! i loved the atmosphere and how relaxed and casual the place was. ordered the black bean spare ribs, crispy pork belly & honey soy tossed squid. pork wasn't really crispy but all were delicious and full of flavour. our favourite was the squid. will definitely come back on our next visit to queenstown!!

what a place!!! what awesome fusion food. was here thursday last week. second time. the roti rolls are awesome. the fried chicken is great. my favorite was in fact the rice with fried anchovies the cashews . epic. the curry is really good. meat just breaks apart. i would give it 5 except for the pork ribs we ordered. they were hard and umm overcooked i felt. great service too.

with the celebrity chef as the owner, expectations of this place was especially high. i must say, the food really delivered. what a creative combination of flavours using a combination of asian/european dishes. we went to this restaurant for dinner at around 6pm on a friday night. the place was fully packed and considering that this was the case, we were seated quite quickly. we orderd 5 different mains. overall, the rice,-perfectly cooked, pork belly- tender, juicy with salty yet sweet flavours(most likely soy based seasoning with possibly a hint of honey). the only disappointment was the portion size of the salmon. i love salmon and have tried salmon in many restaurants. i know madam woo is in the fine lines of fine dining, but it was wayyy too small. other than that, the perfect eat out spot in queenstown!

madam woo is a malay-chinese street food styled restaurant, with funky decor.

we managed to get seated straight away, which was unusual, even the table next to us told us we were lucky to get seated so quickly. though there is an abundance of seating tightly packed in, it seems like this place is always bustling full of people which added to the atmosphere.

we started with a couple of cocktails i go the asia classic and wow, it had a great lemon tartness to it, i loved it!

for food we got:

japanese eggplant with dried prawns.
the eggplant was soft and crunchy with the prawn crackle and a gentle kick of chilli. despite being a side dish this was my personal favourite, though towards the end it did became slightly oily.

rojak duck salad with cucumber, cabbage, coriander & spicy satay dressing
this was so juicy and fresh! full of fragrant herbs with succulent pieces of duck, as far from dry as you can get. this was my boyfriend's personal favourite and my close second.

grilled chicken satay
the satay sauce was chunky and very light and didn't overpower the perfectly grilled chicken. it was accompanied with this amazing little fresh cucumber salad which had an incredible dressing, i wish this was on the menu full sized!

best of all the bill out came to just over 100$ which is extremely reasonable for the quality of the food.

i would go back here in a heartbeat, please open one in wellington!

a trip to queenstown for a wedding meant lots of eating out but i must say madam woo was the highlight.
a really funky place with superb decor and in a great central location.
we (2 adults and 3 kids) elected to share a few plates. everything was super fresh and super tasty.
satay, hainanese chicken rice, won tons, hawker rolls, roti - all superb. the hawker roll was a real highlight - bursting with flavour.
we could not resist the portuguese custard tarts having fond memories of them in malaysia. they were good but the pasty was a little "odd". tasted savory rather then sweet - still demolished them!
the alleyway to the toilets was cool too - just like being in a back ally in hong kong or penang.
a highly recommended place to eat if your in queenstown!

worth the wait for a table. amazing asian flavours. pork hawker roll was outstanding on crispy roti with amazing flavour. crispy pork awesome too. friendly service but a little inconsistent probably due to the turnover of tables. good wine list.

we stayed away from the mains and had a selection of sides. must haves are the prawn & water chestnut dumplings, the pulled pork hawker roll and the crispy pork. all dishes were packed with the flavors of asia.

have a drink in their bar upstairs first over looking the street.

the service throughout the night was a little inconsistent and focused on turning tables.jo y

the recent talk of the town has been madam woo. embodying a tiny, cosy bar on the top with views of the marina and serving malay and chinese style fusion street food in its funky yet modern restaurant downstairs, madam woo is quite an interesting place to dine. my recommendation would be to definitely try their roti canai style hawker rolls and 'nonya chicken curry'.

four of us ate here and we had to wait 45minutes for a table inside. that was no problem as you can't book so we expected a wait. there's a nice bar upstairs you can go and have a drink.

onto the food...wow. really awesome, we got 3 starters and 3 mains which was more than enough! we were stuffed, the dumplings were great, the pork belly - awesome! also make great cocktails and the ambience and staff of the place were brilliant.

definitely one of the best restaurants in qt! if you love asian fusion i couldn't more highly recommend madam woo.

possibly one of the best restaurants in queenstown, recommended to us by many people, and of course it didn't disappoint! we were 7 without a booking, but they had a table ready for us straight away which was impressive! we all went for the banquet, and the food was all amazing and glorious, with fantastic flavours, especially the dumplings, the beef rendang, and the super fabulous hawker rolls....

dined there for lunch on saturday 15th march 2014. i ordered beef rending and my wife ordered fresh bluff oysters. i found beef a bit chewy. the oysters arrived au natural. my wife could not eat raw. waitress could not care less and offered no alternative. attitude, take it or leave it. i reckon she should have reiterated at the time of ordering that they were raw. the staff did not offer to do anything with them such as grilling or kilpatrick- which would have been acceptable. when we pointed it out, the staff gave us the impression that they could not care less. presentation of the food was excellent. being kiwis, we think they gave us the cold shoulder somewhat, what would they have done to overseas visitors?

fantastic meal. can't book but this wasn't a problem we'd barely finished our excellent cocktails (a thai spin on a bloody mary- amazing!) before our table was ready.

great service- friendly knowledgable staff who were just the right kind of attentive.
the beef rendang was divine as were the hawker rolls.

the satay was also great, and the squid was out of this world.

a great find. in amongst a plethora of touristy venues offering pub style food this was a real find. funky venue, great vibe, great food and really good value for money. had a sensational strawberry and szechuan pepper cocktail. everything was delicious from the prawn dumplings to the incredibly moreish black bean pork spare ribs. the whole steamed fish was great value for money. overall great vibe - we're going back tomorrow to try some more.
