nestled in queenstown mall with gorgeous views of the lakefront area (if you sit outside) this is a restaurant that should be given a try. their menu consist of meals that are made to share with individual options also available.

the staff are quite helpful and insist on assisting in case the guests struggle to choose from the menu. quite a different menu from the usual that thai restaurants offer (although this is more asian fusion).

the food itself, depending on what you order can be a hit or a miss. i had ordered the rednang with chicken, which is a spicy dish and i can't handle spicy. so whilst the coconut milk added great flavour i couldn't quite enjoy the food to the maximum as i was struggling to handle the spice.

we had the nasi lemak beef rendang, hainan chicken rice, roti & chicken satay. food is not authentic malaysia; so malaysians, lower your expectations.

we got back from a sightseeing trip and was not sure what to have as it was quite late when we arrived back at queenstown central. as we strolled down the mall, we came across this restaurant and gave it a go. we tried the nasi lemak, squid & beef rendang. nasi lemak was on the okay side to be honest. beef rendang was also on the okay side. it tasted a little bit flat. the highlight for me was the squid. the squid dish was perfection! nicely seasoned, full of flavour and just delish. i am glad the waitress suggested the squid dish, otherwise we would have had a so so experience. overall it was a nice experience. thank you.

delicious roti, the hawker rolls are the star of the menu. riesling that initially appeared too sweet but then perfectly complemented our beef rendang. the rendang was a little mild for our taste but a good flavour. the rest of the ensemble was just ok (dumplings and wontongs) but the great decor, hawker roll and great service a memorable impression. a good night out.

we were very excited about dining at madam woo,as we are big josh emmett fans and had heard great things.
it was a busy saturday night but we were happy to have drinks and wait for a table. we went to the upstairs bar, unfortunately the tables went clean and the barman didnt take any notice of us, he was too busy talking to friends. my brother waiting about 10mins at the bar for him to finish his convo before he served us. this was pretty disappointing but did not reflect the srvice for the rest of the night. once we were seated we had a thorough run down of the menu by our great waiter.
we ordered a good amount of food! we ordered all the steamed and fried selection, the crispy wontons were my favourite. the satay prawns were cooked great but the tumeric coating was a little strong for my liking. the pork hawker roll was absolutely impossible to fault, one of the tastiest things ive ever eaten! so flavoursome and the roti was so crispy and delish.
for mains we shared the fried noodles, beef rendang and a steamed whole blue cod, and the laksa. the noodles were great but the pork sausage had a strange texture. the rendang came highly recommended and it did not disappoint! juicy beef pieces with a yummy sauce, also loved that the rice came with all the trimmings. the fish was nice but we agreed we could have gone without, it was fiddly to eat and the bones with a bit annoying. laksa was good too, strong flavours and nice and thick.
everything was brought to us in a timely fashion even though the place was full. most of the food was as good as expected but the bar service really let us down. the decor was great without being too much. now that im back im auckland ill definitely be trying the madam woo in takapuna!

there’s a lot to be excited about in queenstown. an adrenaline junkie has a load of options from paragliding, bungee jumping, sky diving, canyoning, even “hydro attacking.” families with small children can take a trip to the skyline complex. there’s also a couple of tours available, one that shouldn’t be missed is a trip to milford sound. on top of my to-do list is a meal at madam woo.

we decided to give this place a try after looking at the great reviews and menu selection. overall ambience and service was good. food presentation was good and looked 'authentic' but taste wise they failed to meet the mark for us. nasi lemak's rice was not done the way it should be, and the curry laksa's soup lacked the right flavor. however we enjoyed the fusion dishes - lychee peanut salad and the hawker rolls (roti canai wrap with chicken and salad) but we felt that food was overpriced.

we got to sit in the back area under the heaters which was very pleasant as it was a beautiful night. service was absolutely marvellous and very attentive staff even when 'in the back'.
the prawn skewers were good albeit a little dry with the spices that covered them.
chicken curry main was nice and spivey. a bit of a hiccup with a cold piece, however expertly recovered by the wait staff with some free roti.
the dessert of lemongrass mousse with goji was impeccable flavour with a divine look.
i love the green tea coming in a quaint tea pot, and the vietnamese coffee with condensed milk was divine.
very satisfied with the food and the cheap price for queenstown was quite a nice surprise!

stopped here for a late lunch on a beautiful queenstown saturday. it was fairly quiet at 3.30pm even with the craft market on. food is really pricey for what it is - $29 for char way teow or chicken curry? i ordered the pulled pork 'hawker roll' which was really quite yummy. it better be for $14. it was enough for a light lunch. decor was very nice and staff were pleasant and friendly. would i go back again? not unless i was seriously craving singaporean/malaysian food on my holiday.

god sake it was a total polar opposite for the same resturant name ive ever experienced before! the takapuna madams in auckland was arss when we tried it, so i had to force my queen to try this one and we where both completely blown away by the standard of the taste, texture and quality the queenstown location offered - auckland (the dirty little cousin) needs to get it together big time!

the service was amazing and it helped with an easy on the eye scottish lass who looked after us, she was gold!

highly recommend when in qt
