first day we arrived, we had dinner there and the food honestly was not bad, i would give 7/10 but then we took away some food for the children and we were shocked to see that the chicken was raw on the inside, we have no plan to go back and complain as it was already 9pm by the time we reach our hotels but we were very dissapointed and upset as its very dangerous if in case we didn't even check and cut the chicken into half, and just straight away let the children eat it. no more next time.

madam woo wasn’t at queenstown when i last visited the town in 2014, so that got me to try something new! and no regrets. the interior is so unique that it has light touches of malaysian history yet not overboard and still carries the fusion within. madam woo is spread around new zealand in cities like christchurch, takapuna, hamilton and queenstown.

lovely staff... food - their special roti was amazing and full of flavour ... laksa was slightly bland and the kuey teow unfortunately had too much soy sauce which made it salty.

loved the food with a hawker roll as a highlight. great flavor in the pork belly dish and enjoyed the coconut rice to go with it. decent sizes to order as sharing plates, would highly recommend.

delicious sharing style menu with a malaysian asian fusion. would recommend the hawkers which are an asian take of the taco but instead of a tortilla, the ingredients sit in a deliciously crunchy roti. cool decor and efficient staff.

went here with a group and we must’ve had something organised as i didn’t order a thing and therefore not 100% which dishes we got. i know there were a couple of different dumplings (all good), spring rolls (ok), the beef rendang, which was good (but not as good as monsoon poon’s), ginger chicken, pineapple and chicken salad, possibly another chicken salad, vegetable dahl, i honestly can’t remember but the food in general was good, nothing to complain about at all, i ate more than i needed just because it was tasty. the roti was amazing. couldn’t fit dessert but got a vietnamese coffee and tried a bit of my workmates mango ice cream which was actually really good after all the spice. the food was a bit spicier than i expected, but i love spice so all good with me. would go back for a cheap and cheerful dinner. place was quite noisy and busy on a friday night so has that kind of atmosphere.

for all the hype surrounding madam woos queenstown honestly this place is quite average. the service was great and food ok but my main gripe was that the food was not steaming hot. now i am not sure if that’s how it’s meant to be served but i like my hot food served hot :) we did not get a booking last time around and quite frankly it was alright after waiting 4 years to try this place out. i will definitely try the other branches out though. we ordered the hawker rolls which was probably the best thing we did order rate this at 4) -1 in chicken and the other eggplant. ginger and prawn dumplings (3.5), mushroom spring rolls (3.5) and my least favorite the fried chicken (2). this was too dry and room temperature.

thanks to a friend’s recommendation, we try out madam woo tonight. after a late lunch, we all feel like a late dinner which means we rock up at around 8:30pm. the place is almost full, but it doesn’t take long for our friendly scottish host to clear a table and get us seated. the menu looks really inviting and it’s difficult to choose, so in the end we opt for three entrees that include the prawn dumplings ($11), mushroom spring rolls($9), and chicken satay($14). the flavours and textures are intense, and superb!! we can’t decide which is best, but it’s a toss up between the spring rolls and the dumplings. for mains, we go for the pork belly stir fry ($19), honey soy squid ($18), and char kway teow ($24). we split 2 x bowls of rice($6) and 2 x roti canai($10) between us. we’re also given a complimentary side dish of stir fried vege that are really delicious. again, the flavours of the dishes are perfectly rich, with just enough spice, and great textures thanks to cashew nuts, fresh sprouts etc. the service from the lovely girls on tonight is friendly and attentive, with plenty of good advice being offered over the menu options. the decor is cool, with large pictures, photos, and woven bamboo light shades. would definitely head back here in a heartbeat! well done team!

very pleasant and adequately lit ambience. the place was a little crowded so the staff was a bit here and there, but that's just a compliment to how popular they are. the staff was friendly and well versed with their menu. food was amazing and packed with flavour. the price is slightly high but it doesn't even matter once you get a bite.

food was great - i highly recommend getting the pork belly, honey & soy squid and i personally enjoyed the blushing dragon drink. however service was terrible when we had our dinner - there seemed to be more than enough waiters & waitresses to cater all customers but somehow it took very long for us just to request some refills for our water. our food also took very long to come out. the restaurant was fully booked that night and i almost let it go but then i saw some of the waitresses constantly chatting with some customers, completely disregarding our presence. it is very unfortunate because we could have had a positive experience with the food but the service definitely needs improvement.

high expectations for madam woo and very disappointed. front of house team are lovely & the venue busy. food however, wasn’t authentic... the beef rendang lacked any flavour, spice & looked like an irish stew. the stir fry pork had nice vegetables, with hardly anything that resembled an asian green...the pork dry & over cooked. when asked how was the meal? i was embarrassed to say ‘bland’ & was told the executive chefs were visiting malaysia soon - a big learning curve on how to prepare asian food.
