not too bad, but not as great as expected.. my husband and i decided to check out this place tonight because we wanted somewhere new to try and loxley's seemed to have an awesome menu and good reviews. we chose to eat indoors (tonight was humid and a bit rainy) and the atmosphere was nice. the server was ok - she was nice enough to move us somewhere quiet after being sat near a family with a screaming baby. she was polite but not overly friendly and seemed like she was too tired to muster up a lot of smiles and friendliness. she was ok though. the food was alright, some things better than others. we got the calamari appetizer which ended up being a disappointment. while it did come out extremely fast, it could've used an extra minute or two in the fryer and drained a bit better. it was very greasy (actually had a little pool of oil at the bottom of the basket). we didn't care for the tartar sauce served with it either. on to the entrees - my husband got the chicken with penne pasta plus the salad bar. his entree was again alright, but not awesome. he got a salad from the salad bar and seemed to like it well enough, and he really enjoyed the soup of the day (cream of mushroom) that was on the bar. he actually got a second bowl of it. on a side note, the potato salad from the salad bar would have been really good if the potatoes were actually cooked all the way. where i come from, potato salad shouldn't be crunchy. my entree was the crabcake with au gratin potatoes. the crabcake was pretty good but again, nothing to write home about (then again, i come from maryland so it's hard to impress me with a crabcake). i loved the potatoes though. the portions could have been bigger and the coffee could have been hotter. we were really impressed with the 5% that goes to charity (you pick one of three charities) - which emulates the whole "take from the rich and give to the poor" idea that the robin hood legend is famous for. overall, thumbs up for the charity and ambiance but the food was just not great enough or large enough portions to be worth the money. also, my husband is having some stomach issues after dinner (about 2 hours later) but i'm going to chalk it up to his occasional seafood sensitivity. we may give this place another shot in the future...but then again, we may just save our money.

edit: i tried this place again after my dad requested it for his birthday lunch. the server was very friendly, and sucked us into getting an appetizer (crab nachos, which happened to be the most expensive one on the menu). the portion was huge and we didn't really have much room for our sandwiches after that. he got the gyro and took the whole thing home. i got a chicken salad wrap, which was supposed to have grapes and almonds in it. there were no almonds, which was a bummer. it wasn't bad, but i wouldn't order it again. still am not impressed with this place.

outdoor dining. the food at loxley's is pretty much what you would get at any chain restaurant. the service isn't particularly good and given the food quality, the prices are a little high. the real attraction though is outdoor dining. indoors the decor is a little dated. i would say if you don't need the outdoor ambience pass on loxley's.

romantic night out. my boyfriend and i went to loxley's for the first time and were really intrigued with the atmosphere and medieval design to the restaurant. their original drinks were really tasty and i love it when restaurants actually include the prices on their drink menus. my boyfriend got the chicken cheesesteak and i got the sauteed pork loin. both were absolutely delicious!! though it was busy our waiter was very nice and we didn't feel as though we were ever forgotten. sitting outside was nice too since it was a beautiful night. what i was really impressed with was the fact loxley's donates 5% of your bill to a charity which you chose. overall i really liked it and would definitely go back again.

renaissance in lancaster. loxley's has a medieval feel with a menu fit for nobility. i had the mussels as an appetizer and the crab cake entree, both exceptional. good service, great atmosphere and nice crowd. we stayed afterward for a drink at the bar outside and listened to a jimmy buffet-type band, all on a wednesday night! check it out!

favorite lancaster restaurant. just had another great experience at loxley's. i was pleased to see that they have expanded their menu selections; fish tacos, orange chicken, amazing new seafood dishes and lots more. i don't think there is a better spot in lanc to eat outdoors. i recommend making a reservation since the place was packed. we stayed after dinner for drinks and dancing at the bar.

a lovely night at loxley's. my husband and i visited loxley's last summer and had an ok experience. at the time, it was a newly opened restaurant and it was a apparent that the entire staff was a bit green. well, a year later it seems all the kinks have been worked out. upon our arrival we were told there would be a short wait for a table on the large outdoor patio. not a problem! there were three bars for us to choose from while we waited. we sat at the upstairs bar where water runs right through the top of the bar. what a neat feature! a short while later we were paged for our table by the hostess. we were seated on the lower section of the patio and our server came right over. he was friendly and personable. he reminded us of the wonderful charity program where the restaurant donates a portion of each sale to one of three charities at the end of the meal. another great feature! we chose to order the crab dip as an appetizer (very tasty and piping hot). i had the salmon and my husband had a burger. both were top notch and served quickly after we were done with the crab dip. all in all a very lovely evening. we really enjoyed the atmosphere of the outdoor dining and the live entertainment. highly recommend trying this place out - for the first time or to give it a second chance. we'll be back!

two strikes and you're out.... i've eaten here three or four times over the past year with friends so i feel fairly well qualified to write this. i have to agree with the folks that said the outside ambience is nice. the food is usually well prepared but i would say the portions are a bit small. my complaint is with the quality of service. on two occasions (one about a year ago and another a few weeks ago) the service was terrible. long wait for order to be taken, food to be served, etc. on the last visit the waitress was one of the worst i have encountered (and i eat out a lot). slow is bad but, slow with a bad attitude is worse. food took too long to order, longer to come out (when it did it wasn't too warm), and the time it took to get our checks took even longer. yes, it is a nice place to sit out and eat but...there are other places that are just as good with better service.

lots of reviews say this place has turned around and become better, i am glad i wasn't there before. it wasn't awful, i'd equate it to a ruby tuesdays. my wife got the trio of sliders- they were ok, nut the crab cake looked like cat food. the calamari was rubbery, overbooked, and super greasy. i got the pork loin for dinner. it was smashed, sauteed, over seasoned (way too much thyme), over cooked, piled on top of over whipped mashed potatoes, and covered with a really nice sauce. the ambiance in the place is nice and i'm sure that in the summer the deck is awesome. also the service was really good. maybe it will improve in a year, but i doubt i'll be back there anytime soon (for food, i'd kinda like to drink a beer or two on the deck this summer).

love this place. first time i went i was disappointed with the salmon, as it was overcooked. however, the second time i ordered it, it was cooked perfectly. great service, great food, and a lovely atmosphere.

much improved!!! i visited this place last year and had a surprisingly sub par experience. i knew the place had potential based off of the location and the tremendous atmosphere. my family and i decided to give it another shot an it was well worth it. we ordered and assortment of appetizers and entree amongst us. each and every one of us was extremely satisfied with our food and decided to order dessert which also was delicious. not to mention the much, much improved service.

worth every penny. this was my first visit today at loxley's and i had the bbq chicken wings as the appetizer and they were tasty. 16 oz. new york strip steak was huge and delicious. broccoli was awesome. garlic mashed potatoes were very good. white chocolate raspberry cheese cake melted in my mouth, the best i have ever tasted. nice atmosphere. very nice waitress. beautiful place. the food was so good. i will return there many more times. worth every penny. not disappointed. try this place and you will be hooked. it's been a long time since i've had a good meal like this. thank you loxley's for a great evening.

had a good experience.... i have only eaten here once. i sat outside on the patio, it was comfortable and service was good.

i had the corn and crab chowder. it was pretty good, tasty and chunky. i had a ny strip. it was lean and cooked correctly (rare). i had a draught beer - it was also fine.

i got exactly what i asked for, served prompyly and hot. the atmosphere was nice and a family could go here (i was there on business). based on that single visit, i would return.

the loxley's experience. i visited loxley's on a friday for happy hour, there was an error on my bill which i discovered tuesday. i returned to the restaurant and spoke with the manager, bill....he was very understanding and extremely helpful. the issue was resolved and bill also offered lunch on him. i feel as though this is an establishment with integrity and i will venture back anytime.

keeps getting better. i was at loxley's for a graduation party and really enjoyed it. this time i came with just my wife and two close freinds. we were able to get the outside seating with reservations and were seated promptly. what a lovely evening. the service was prompt and freindly, the food hot and artfully prepared/.......tasty too. can't think of a way the evening could have been more enjoyable. our friends couldn't get over the charity program, when the waiter told us how much loxley's has donated, it really put thier mission in perspective. way to go loxley's, you have two more fans!

tried it...loved it!. i was hesitant to try this restaurant because some of the reviews i read sounded like horror stories, but i was invited to join our family for a graduation party so i went. i have to say, all the hype about this beautiful restaurant is certainly deserved! even though they were packed, we were greeted and seated by a freindly hostess in a timely manner. we had a reservation but were late due to traffic and expected to wait, but they were gracious to save our seating for us. our waiter greeted us promptly, and seemed knowledgeable about the many questions being asked. the menu had something for everyone, and was priced fairly according to what you wanted. we asked for seperate checks, per couple, or family, and surprisingly, that was no problem (we were a party of 20).
the rolls we were served were warm, and ok. our beverages were served promptly, as were our appetizers. i thought dinner would take a long time because of how busy they were, but was impressed that it arrived only 15 minutes or so after the appetizers. i had the seafood linguine, with mussels, scallops and shrimp which was as impressive a pasta dish as iv'e had in this area, and very tasty. my wife tried the crabcake, and was raving in between bites. i can't speak for everyone at our table, but the waiter checked back frequently, and everyone was nodding thier heads in approval as far as i could see. my cousins across the table shared a dessert called lava cake which looked awesome, i skipped dessert, as my entree was quite filling. all in all, i'm very glad and relieved. no place i've ever eaten has been perfect every time, but this this time it was. we'll be back for sure!

big changes from last time!. a year ago wife and i went to loxley's and we left unhappy. we waited forever for a table and when we got sat our service was so so and the food took forever...... well we heard from several friends that kinks seem to be worked out after the initial opening. seriously i guess it should have been expected to have some bumps in the road when you first open an establishment like this. well we went back last evening on a busy friday night. we were a little worried about the wait but the hostess quoted us a perfect time and while we waited we checked out the new upstairs bar. that bar is amazing and the view is not bad either. when we were seated our server arrived within a minute to take our drinks and made us aware of the specials. i went with the sauteed pork loin. it was cooked to perfection. loved every bite of it and will suggest that dish to anyone i talk to. my wife had the crab cake. shes very particular about them but she was very pleased. the presentations are also great. another neat thing we noticed was the great wine selection. by the bottle or glass you will find what you want. i highly recommend trying loxley's out now. even if you did not have a good first experience last year when they first opened, i bet you wont leave unhappy. loxleys's is now my favorite spot in lancaster
