lou mitchell's

i had breakfast here this morning while in the area on business on the recommendation of fellow zomato users. lou mitchell's is, i gather, something of a local institution. it has the look and feel of a classic american diner, which i love at breakfast time.
theservicewas excellent- friendly and prompt despite the busy crowd. my order was fairly quick from the kitchen and hot as you'd want. quality wise it was pretty good - i had an omelette that was a little runny on the eggs, but the flavour was excellent. bonus points for excellent coffee as well.
cost wise it was a little pricier than what you'd hope - $30 tip in for coffee juice and an omelette- but it is chicago, so govern yourself accordingly. on the whole a pretty good experience. i can understand why the reviews are positive and wouldn't discourage you from visiting.

really good breakfast place. they were packed, which is always a good sign for places like that, but i was very impressed with how quick theservicewas. i would go back and recommend to any one visiting.

i absolutely loved that they bring donut holes to people in line! they were delicious! they have huge portions and we definitely should have shared! food was pretty good and they are so busy on weekends theservicewas fine for how busy it was! homemade bread was to die for!

breakfast is great andserviceis first rate. your coffe never gets below half a cup and same with your water. a lot of fine establishments could learn something from tis place.

breakfast heaven. if there is a diner in heaven, it shares lou mitchell's kitchen. i made the trek to this west loop institution during a september 2010 business trip. lou mitchell's is now on my "must return" list. the salami and swiss cheese omelette was perhaps the best omelette i've ever had. i usually eat my toast as a gluttonous afterthought. not here. fresh baked wheat bread, both soft and sublime, served with real butter. the taters, while not piping hot like my omelette, were nonetheless tasty. for dessert? an orange wedge with two prunes!

theservicemade me feel like i was eating in grandma's kitchen. my waitress, donna, was an angel. i'm pretty sure i spied a snapshot of her grandkids in the little book where she keeps her checks, i was "honey" and "sweetheart," and she even gave my hand a little pat when she refilled my coffee!

nice place. i visited in jan 2010. i loved the fact they served fresh made doughnut holes while waiting in line. a wonderful touch to the long line in the cold weather.

timeliness of theservicewas impecable, you can tell there is great management staff. my potatoes were a little undercooked, but overall i enjoyed my meal.

great food on route 66!. what an awesome little place of history on route 66! we had breakfast here and it was wonderful! theservicewas great, and everyone was really friendly!
