the beef was clearly of a high quality and cooked with agreatchar on the outside, whilst remaining pink and juicy on the inside. the homemade bun was also very good, soft yet firm and managed to play understudy to the patty and toppings throughout. the plastic american cheese was heating to dripping point and the tomato despite appearances was fresh, crisp and almost melted with the patty. the lettuce and slaw on the burger on the other hand missed the mark and was a bit sour and you would happily do without this. despite being freshly cooked, the fries didn't have much flavour.

breakfast isgreatand service is first rate. your coffe never gets below half a cup and same with your water. a lot of fine establishments could learn something from tis place.

very disappointed by dry french toast, lacking egg and resembling sliced toast. try cold corned beef hash??greatsetting, poor food quality. decline in recent year or so. bye bye lou's!!

people always ask me for recommendations that are uniquely chicago. well there's nothing unique aboutgreatomelettes, but lou mitchell's is a chicago landmark. on one end, it's kind of something you have to do while in chicago, but on the other end they have really good food so it's not like some touristy chore (like the st. louis arch).

nice place. i visited in jan 2010. i loved the fact they served fresh made doughnut holes while waiting in line. a wonderful touch to the long line in the cold weather.

timeliness of the service was impecable, you can tell there isgreatmanagement staff. my potatoes were a little undercooked, but overall i enjoyed my meal.

eggs and what-not. one of chicago'sgreatdiners. i love that they give you a prune with your meal!

a little over the "under $10" per plate but definitely worth it. you have to appreciate the true diner feel and quaintness but overall this is agreatplace to get some breakfast in chicago and a must see at least once.
