this is our regular spot for steak. they are pretty consistent with getting doneness right. we really liked the beefsteak tomato salad and hope they bring itbackat some point. service is generally good. this place seems to stay busy so be prepared to wait at peak times.

loved it!. went there for valentine's, best way to do it is to call ahead a couple hours prior to your arrival. they had a table ready for us as soon as we arrived and i didn't have to wait at all. for appetizer we had the sweet chili calamari, the sauce they put on them is delicious! for entree i had the outlaw ribeye, and it was amazing, cooked to perfection (medium) and the butter melting on the meat really gave it a great flavor. the mashed potatoes were amazing! i loved the bread also! overall great experience, will bebackthis weekend! props to the manager who gave me the heads up about calling ahead on st. valentine's evening.

this place has really went down the tubes. we sat at the bar for dinner and ordered an appetizer when ordering our meal. the bartender brought our salads out 10 minutes before the appetizer showed up. i ordered an 8 ounce filet and they brought me a sirloin. my friend ordered a sirloin medium rare and it came out medium well we sent her order back. i questioned the manager about the filet it was not round and thick. he said that they have different cuts depending on how it is ordered. i have no intention of goingbackto this place

odd way of handling customers. this used to be one of my favorites on the qsm corridor, but lately their issues with wait time and seating has made us go elsewhere. we arrived about 5:20 pm on a friday and we're told a 35-40 minute wait. i thought it was a little long for the time if day, but not that big of a deal. as we waited and looked around, we noticed a lot of empty tables. so i walkwd around a bit and counted 21 empty, clean tables. so i approached the host to inquire. he gave me a story about how wait staff was just arriving, blah, blah, blah. i replied with how to you not schedule enough for a friday night? he just shrugged his shoulders. the food is still pretty good, but not good enough for a 40 minute wait with empty tables or enough to bring usbackanytime soon. there are better options around qsm than this.

over cooked steak and rushed service. my husband and i came here for dinner today coming from a long road trip from denver, co. we have never eaten here and were excited to try it out. i ordered the manhattan stuffed mushroom filet and my husband ordered the kansas city bbq sirloin; we both ordered our steaks to be cooked medium. my husband's steak was perfectly cooked, however, mine was cooked well. the flavor of the sauce of both steaks were very good but i was disappointed that mine was over cooked. due to our long trip, i didn't want to order another steak and wait again. aside from my steak being over cooked, i felt that our waitress was rushing us. we had not even finished our steaks yet (about 70% done) and in the middle of cutting our steaks, our waitress came by to ask us if we wanted dessert. when we replied no, she left and camebackwith our check about a couple minutes later. unfortunately we will not be eating here again.

dinner tonight, pretty good overall. update: 25 may 2014

we had dinner here, and the first bad experience. ian and i both ordered ribeyes, medium,. and got ribeyes, well done. it took a couple minutes to get our servers attention, but she immediately agreed they were completely overcooked. i asked, almost pleaded, that the meal not be hurried; i had a baked potato to keep me busy. the steaks camebackstill on the top end of medium, just a hint of faint pink in the center. the manager brought them. i was on the verge of sending thembackagain (i hate wasting a meal, this was very hard for me), but the manager preempted me by telling us the streaks were comp'd. there was no way in heck i would send thembackthen. a medium-to-medium well steak beats the heck out of well done, dry steak any day.

so maybe a trainee cook, but this was the first steak i've had from a longhorn that was sent back. the manager did the right thing by us, though, and we'll keep going back.

-----------------

our family of four ate dinner here this evening. we started with three bowls of potato soup and a ceasar salad. raegan got the trout, erin got the parmesan chicken, ian got a ribeye, and i got the chopped steak. everyone except for me reported their meals were excellent. i think my chopped steak could have been improved by replacing the "wine sauce" with gravy. i had ordered it medium well, but it was just over well done (not a bad thing since chopped steak is hamburger that needs to be cooked to kill bugs).

the iced tea, soup, salad, and bread were all very good. service was excellent. our check was 89.41.

i like longhorn. the longhorn, saltgrass, and logans chains are the gold standard for a very good steak at a reasonable price.

cooks can't cook. i usually order my steak cooked medium as at most steak houses your get it on the medium rare side. but longhorn's menu has a very nice scale and description corresponding to the cooking scale. so i ordered mine medium rare thinking they would cook it as indicated. wrong! it was a beautiful thick sirloin, but very rare. sent itbackonly to receive another the same way. the complimentary cocktail was not worth the unsatisfactory experience. the waiter and manager seemed they couldn't care less.

manager scored points!. we received a gift card for christmas, so my husband and i wanted to try longhorn and use our gift card. we had a short wait for a table (on a tuesday night), so we went to the bar. the bartender made excellent cocktails and was friendly even though he was slammed and the only one on duty that night. we were seated about 10 - 15 mins. later. our waiter came over promptly and asked about drink or appetizer orders. he didn't mention any specials (maybe there weren't any?). we ordered the spinach-artichoke dip which was bland and unmemorable; try something else as your appetizer. the waiter camebackand took our food order. we were enjoying a rare night out, chatting and didn't notice that about 45 mins. had passed. the waiter came over and said something about them putting in a new computer system and that was causing problems in the kitchen and the resulting delays. shortly thereafter, the manager came by and said dinner would be on them and he apologized profusely for the delay. funny thing was, we weren't even upset. my husband and i both ordered prime rib, medium rare. his was fine; mine was bloody and cold. it literally wasn't cooked.backto the kitchen it went. the waiter brought itbackand it was cooked to the correct degree. i've had better prime rib before, but it was good enough. i will try the steak next time. the waiter was attentive and the delay was not his fault. i would give the longhorn another chance and see if they've improved.

well i couldn't finish my last review but the prime rib as u will see was perfectly cutt the baked loaded potato was small the lobster tail $10 more to add was good. wish he would have asked at the ordering process for an extra plate ... but all in all it was great end of the year meal. i hope blake gets some help in the serving dept. but it is what it is...... let's hope the key lime pie tops it all off.. for the food a 9 for service i'm sorry but that was a 7 to 5... we will bebackfor the food maybe during lunch but the prime is defiantly worth comingbackfor. :)......

-----31 dec, 2011-----

blake is our server .... so we were told by the gentleman passing by 6.30 minutes of sitting with no greet:(. but when blake did come by he seemed to buzy... no much personality... and thank goodness our drinks came when he did! we are spliting the prime rib 16 which is 21.99 medium rare lets hope after asking to make sure they have it, it comes out that way. point for our server he brought plates with the bread and ceser salad wich by the way the steak comes with one side the salad is extra....

no flavor.......except for burned!. our meal began with a very nice greeting by the manager. he sat us at an oversized booth in thebackand our waitress brought us some phenomenal honey wheat bread. that's where the good points run out. we started with the texas tonion which is clearly a deconstructed rip-off of outback's bloomin' onion, only not as good. it was waaaaaaaay too salty and the sauce (also a rip-off) had no real "zip". we asked for some ranch dressing to dip in, and eventually got it after waiting for 5 minutes for our waitress to passbackby and asking for it, again. by the time she returned, the onion was cold, though my bf ate it anyway. we both ordered the 18oz bone-in ribeyes (mine medium-rare, his medium) with baked potatoes as the side and caesar salads. i have never in my life seen a pink caesar dressing until tonight. it didn't look or taste anything like a caesar should. the steaks came out, and they were both wildly overdone. i do not send foodbackto the kitchen, so i began eating it, but after about 3 bites i knew i couldn't go any further. the char flavor was the only flavor at all. like i kept licking an old charcoal grill. no salt, no meaty flavor, just burned. i pushed it to the side and tried to eat around the bad spots in my baked potato. the waitress finally noticed (after letting my bf's tea run out again) that i wasn't eating. she asked if i wanted a box. i said "no, i'm not going to eat that. it's terrible, and i'm not blaming you at all, i simply can't eat it". she said "oh, do you want me to get a manager?" i'm going to take a side bar here and say this: why in the hell do no restaurants train their servers anymore?!? i've waited tables. it's a cardinal rule you don't ask a customer if they want to see a manager. you apologize, then remove the "offending item" from the table, and notify the manager. the end. the manager, though nice, was obviously pretty fresh. he did take the meal off the ticket, but as he was walking away stated "all you have to do is let us know you don't like it". um, isn't that what i did?!? i should've cooked tonight........

don't waste your money. the food is too salty, the service slow, and the drinks are weak. don't listen to chelsea...there are several steakhouses in the city that put longhorn to shame. i will not beback"ya'll".
