lola's burrito joint

unique takes on a simple comfort. seeing many of the other reviews makes me rather sad because to me this is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. i heard about it from a friend and decided to try since then i've been there at least 12 times and it has been rather consistent in its delivery of good food and service. in a way it has become one of the local places i take friends to for the experience, whenever we all come to town this is one of our top picks. put plainly though when i go it is usually slow, but to me i've had some of the best burritos of my experience here. i'll even recommend my personal favorite for newcomers, the "curious george". whatever complaints others have may be valid, and if they then i urge lola's to remedy them so others can come to enjoy this place as much as my friends and i do.

sub par. the service was good, but the food was not very good at all. we had two different burritos and both sucked. i would not recommend lolas. i should have took heed to other reviewers.

great food and atmosphere! went with 2 friends for a few beers and food. tacos were great, philly wizza was awesome and i had the elvis burger which was mind blowing!

we were in jacksonville for a getaway. we had planned on going to another place but they were closed. found this place and glad we did. the corn is a must have, the plantains were very good. my taco's had great season on them. if in town try them out.

food just ok. service great. not so great ms.catherine followed me outside and demanded i give her 20 % tip. never in my 61 years have i experienced such treatment. gave her 12% on paper, 2 more dollars from my wallet....she still insisted. mgmt time for executive decision. gary newton

decided to give this place a second chance, and it was okay. nothing to wild about there food, but the atmosphere was nice as well as our server. i believe this place is would suite for a night out with friends and have a couple drinks and apps. not coming back to have dinner.

had steak taco and carnitas taco. at best fair. not a lot of flavor. served fairly plain on a small flour tortilla there was not the taste you would expect from the menu description. the ambiance is good. the server was enthusiastic pleasant and knowledgeable. unfortunately the kitchen is unable to meet much demand. we waited much longer than we should’ve.
overall the location and ambiance couldn’t overcome the mediocre flavor and taste and slow food service.

my wife and i went to lola’s tonight and shared the macho nachos. we totally enjoyed them and actually brought about a third of them home for later. they came with a huge pile of chips, tons of sour cream, olives, jalapeños, cheese and lots of extras. the beef was very tasty and we will get this again in the future. not a bad meal for a little over $12 with tax.

been there a handful of times and have had a good experience every time. there tacos and empanadas are the way to go if your trying to keep it cheap.

had a horrible experience here twice. minimum hour wait. very mediocre food and their kids meal should have the ashamed. i held the quesadilla up to let it drain in minute the whole bottom of the plate was bright orange and about a half inch deep with grease. i got attitude when trying to order her something edible.

pretty tasty and delicious. burgers are awesome but the curious george burrito is my fav. the names of all the menu items are hilarious. gotta love a restaurant that doesn't take itself too seriously.

when you hear the name, lola’s burrito joint, well what comes to your mind?  mexican?  for sure, but not you ordinary mexican, think; sauces made with fresh ingredients, all proteins cooked to order, so… that’s not going to be quick, and it should not be a problem.  the menu offers a large assortment of items to choose from, appetizers, empanadas, hot wings, tacos, burgers and sandwiches, and the specialty burritos.  they can be regular, (dry or wet), v stuff (veterinarian), special grilled burritos, quesadillas, salads and several interesting entries.  this king st. spot has loyal followers, and you can expect to see regulars (we are) and people who just drop in cause someone told them to try it.  you can also expect this place to be packed on the weekend, and i can testify lunch is a very busy event each day.  all the staff members truly are a team, from the kitchen staff, to bar staff and the servers.  and it’s nice to see the same faces each time we go in, i like longevity in restaurant staff, makes me think management is doing something right.

pathetic food. mediocre service.
we four went for lunch from work. all of us had issues with the high amount of salt put in our food. all of ordered different items.
this restaurant even charges for the chips and cheez sauce which is usually complimentary at other mexican restaurant. not worth a second visit. we are still recovering from the overdose of salt. visited this place on march 19th lunch hour.

chicken quesidilla, chips and queso, and chimmy conga burrito. chicken quesadilla is good and local sauce

empanadas to die for. we split a latin beef empanada and my friend said it was the best since his 'lieta passed and his grandma was full cuban. the filling was very tasty but the stand out was the pastry. it was tender, flaky and gbd. he got the bought the farm burrito and raved about it. i had the havana nights and it was a great twist on a cuban sandwich. pork was cooked perfect and that tang of the pickles and mustard cutting through the richness of the pork and ham made it all delicious. service was on point as well. they have a great many variations on burritos and hamburgers and i can not wait to try more items.
