i look forward to returning to lola — the service was quick and friendly, the environment fun, and most dishes hit the spot. all that and not even very expensive! my 4 friends and i split the check and ended up paying $20 each plus tip for our 5 cocktails, 3 apps and 3 entrees. not bad for saturday brunch.

the yams stole the show; they were naturally sweet, seasoned to a perfect saltiness and cooked to very tender.

since we were at lola mexican fish house, we figured we should probably order some fish of some kind. we decided on the pan roasted red grouper from the large plates section of their menu. this was served with salsa veracruz, escabeche, poached egg, and chile olives. this was seasoned perfectly with a light crust and good texture. the fish was not dry and flaked beautifully. grouper is a meaty fish when compared to other white fish like tilapia; however since it is a fresh water fish, it isn't oily like sea bass. grouper is a great choice for the fish-phobic. let's just call it a gateway fish. we absolutely loved this dish which left us shocked and slightly confused. it is so awesome to try new things!

great meal, great atmosphere, an interesting mix of options on the menu. the spicier salsa(tomatillo) is the way to go. the red mild should be removed from the menu. cocktail and the many margarita configurations were all excellent. the hamachi was excellent. the tequila selection was excellent. service was excellent. overall was very pleased i picked here for a nice night out. there is a kids menu.

coastal mexican food - our neighbors told us about lola's over a year ago and we finally had dinner there. what a treat. we can see why our friends kept speaking highly about this place. we ended up going on a monday evening, not realizing it was happy hour all night - score! we ate from the happy hour menu which gave us the opportunity to taste many items, including thier table side guacamole, queso, nachos, fish tacos, pork tacos, beef tacos, and corn soup, erin was our server and she was excellent!  we were at the corner table outside and not once did we feel left out or forgotten and our water glasses stayed full the entire evening. i did learn that 'coastal' mexican means most items have a seafood flair.

just had a great dinner! raw bar was outstanding. grilled oysters flavorful but not overstated. we also had an outstanding salsa and i don't think i've tasted better guacamole. main course for us was the whole red snapper. fried and seasoned to perfection. i strongly recommend it. only downsides were the order in which the food came out and dessert - i'd skip the chocolate tres leches.

beautiful atmosphere, the oysters were great for denver. a couple of us were excited to try the lobster enchiladas and were sorely disappointed with the lack of flavor. the consistency of the lobster meat was rubbery like it had been over cooked in a microwave. went back another time and the hostess picked up the phone mid conversation. we walked away. restaurant host 101 -people first, phone second.

so we went there as a group because you can do reservations. got there and realized that this was a bit more than we wanted to spend on dinner.  fortunately it was sunday and on sundays they have a family style meal that is well worth it for much cheaper than anything else you would find on the menu at about 13 bucks a person. don't let the 3 dollar sign scare you off if it's a sunday. otherwise be afraid. be very afraid.

food should taste good is self-evident brand name. it should, but too often doesn’t...a crew came out from massachusetts on saturday to host a tasting at lola mexican fish house , a highland eatery known as much for its brunch as its seafood. i have been wanting to go there for a long time...

they make mexican food with a yummy as hell flair that we've never had with these kinds of dishes (they don't just do enchiladas, they do lobster enchiladas...hell yes). the cold bar items are not to be missed and trust me, you want to order dessert here. http://www.loladenver.com

there was a lot we liked about lola but the lobster enchiladas were not one of them...i was hoping for something decadent and rich but instead i got two dry enchiladas with barely any lobster in them...i couldn't see or taste lobster at a seafood restaurant! very disappointing!
my husband on the other hand had the caldo de camaron and it was excellent! the broth was rich and deep with lovely spices and the chicharron was cooked perfectly as was the duck and egg.
so stick with the soup not the enchiladas!

with food inspired by coastal regions of mexico and a top rated tequila bar, lola has remained a denver favorite for close to a decade. considering the onslaught of new restaurant districts and denver's ever-changing tastes, remaining a a popular dining destination in this sink or swim climate says a lot about what lola is whipping up. having spent three years on south pearl street and an additional seven in the trendy lohi neighborhood, it's obvious that lola is doing something right. contrary to lola's acclaim, i never had the chance to go until this past thursday night. with such high expectations it's easy for popular restaurants like lola to fall short, but lola not only lived up to those standards but far surpassed them. with an extremely hospitable crew, quality flavors and coin-style margaritas, this denver favorite found it's way into my top five restaurants in denver. we started out with some sweet, smokey salsa and cocktails.  patrick kneese, lola's general manager, suggeste
