since we were at lola mexican fish house, we figured we should probably order some fish of some kind. we decided on the pan roasted red grouper from the large plates section of their menu. this was served with salsa veracruz, escabeche, poached egg, and chile olives. this was seasoned perfectly with a light crust and good texture. the fish was not dry and flaked beautifully. grouper is a meaty fish when compared to other white fish like tilapia; however since it is a fresh water fish, it isn't oily like sea bass. grouper is agreatchoice for the fish-phobic. let's just call it a gateway fish. we absolutely loved this dish which left us shocked and slightly confused. it is so awesome to try new things!

great meal, greatatmosphere, an interesting mix of options on the menu. the spicier salsa(tomatillo) is the way to go. the red mild should be removed from the menu. cocktail and the many margarita configurations were all excellent. the hamachi was excellent. the tequila selection was excellent. service was excellent. overall was very pleased i picked here for a nice night out. there is a kids menu.

just had agreatdinner! raw bar was outstanding. grilled oysters flavorful but not overstated. we also had an outstanding salsa and i don't think i've tasted better guacamole. main course for us was the whole red snapper. fried and seasoned to perfection. i strongly recommend it. only downsides were the order in which the food came out and dessert - i'd skip the chocolate tres leches.

beautiful atmosphere, the oysters weregreatfor denver. a couple of us were excited to try the lobster enchiladas and were sorely disappointed with the lack of flavor. the consistency of the lobster meat was rubbery like it had been over cooked in a microwave. went back another time and the hostess picked up the phone mid conversation. we walked away. restaurant host 101 -people first, phone second.

not worth the headache. lola's might be in agreatlocation and serve interesting food, but when it comes to taking care of the customers they haven't got a clue.

the food and drinks are pricey and even more so when you are double charged. waiter told me my card was declined even when i pulled up my online banking and showed him the balance and the actual charge from when he ran my card. told me he would need another card and was charged on that one as well. when i called to fix the situation the manager was not helpful. told me that this waiter has been with them and just made a mistake. ok? then how was tip added to both cards-after he told me he canceled the first charge, and i only signed the slip for my credit card? honest mistakes happen and part of business is making up for those mistakes in order to make your customers happy, but when management is rude and unwilling to make up the their mistake they will loose business.

not worth the headache or their snobby attitudes.

great food and fantastic service. while in denver for a business trip, our group of three women ate dinner at lola. we were all very pleased with the entire experience and would definitely go back!

service: patrick,a fellow hoosier, was the manager that evening and was an extremely good host. he took the time to chat with us and make sure that we were enjoying our evening. matt made us some very delicious guacamole and even gave us somegreatcolorado sightseeing tips. jeff was our waiter and he was fantastic! he knew so much about the menu and the ingredients in each dish. he was very attentive, friendly and gave somegreatfood recommendations.

food: the guacamole is prepared tableside and made as spicy as you would like it to be. we all thought that the flavor and consistency of the guacamole was perfect. the margaritas at lola are really fresh and made with real ingredients instead of that nasty sweet and sour mix. for dinner, i ordered the shrimp albondigas (pescatarian-friendly) which came with a savory lobster and goat cheese quesadilla. really, really delicious. for dessert, we split the chocolate espresso cake. this came with blackberry-cardamom ice cream and candied marcona almonds. it was the perfect size and a delicious combination of flavors.

ambiance: we sat inside at a table near the kitchen. it was fun to watch the chefs whip up delicious dishes and know that they operate out of a clean kitchen! the overall ambiance of the place is nice. it's got that dark, sexy vibe going for it!

awesome for parties!!. i have always loved lola, but am so impressed with their party hosting! i had my 40th birthday party there and we booked belola (the room below lola) and had about 50 people. they did agreatjob timing the appetizers, keeping everyone's glasses full, getting meals out to those who ordered them and just being all around awesome to work with. i'll going to do my 50th party there as well! thanks lola!!

quiero lola. ok, it's been a while since highschool spanish class...but it's also been too long since i have been back to lola.

great apps, a tequilla selection that lives up to the expectations, and an always changing and very interesting menu---but i do wish they would bring back the hash they used to serve back when i first started going there in 2007.

yes, the guacamole is awesome and the restaurant is very cool--but what i always like best about it is lola has always had some of the coolest (not in a hipster-doucher way) bartenders i had met. always gotgreatservice at the bar no matter how crowded.

just go!
