phenomenal food and drinks.greatservice and atmosphere. lobster mac n cheese is the best i've ever had. religiously come here whenever visiting the boston area.

it's hard to find but worth it. we drove from laconia, nh to have lunch at the lobster shanty and while it was a long drive, we will most certainly do it again!!.greatfood at reasonable prices. the ambience is so unique.....please be sure to use a palm pilot or other mapping device it you are not familiar with salem street layout. our palm pilot took us right there, (but we had to ask someone where it was; like in the alley right across the street from where we parked! ).
loved the lobster claw martini.!

great food & service. my parents were visiting and wanted a good seafood meal. we found this place, off the beaten path (which is difficult in salem) and were very happy with the entire experience. the drink selection wasgreatand the food was amazing. i had the lobster risotto which was creamy, with large chunks of lobster in it. others had the fisherman's stew, which was flavorful. if that wasn't enough, the host gave us several recommendations of other good seafood places in the area - both he and the waitress were friendly and attentive. highly recommend this place!

the ne chowder was light on clams but deliciously buttery and full of flavor. the lobster roll was superb, agreatmid-line between the mayo and butter versions. the sandwich was overstuffed and had that perfect match between the warm of the toated bun and the coolness of the lobster. yeah, it was $19 but worth every mouth full. the report on the fried clams from my discerning dining campion was "belly-licious". vegan options were also on the menu, which maid all the diners in my party happy and well fed. we found the service very friendly as well as the other local diners. we will back, oh yes we will be back.

agreatlittle place in salem. an old chum, who now lives in the d.c. area, was in town with her twin teen daughters, so we spent a day in salem. did the usual touristy things for their delight, then decided for dinner to grab a bite at the lobster shanty. the shanty advertises "warm beer, lousy food, surly waitresses, rude bartenders and cranky cooks." how could we not love it? the menu may boast about "limp salads", but in all seriousness, nothing could be further from the truth. the food is amazingly fresh. everything from pizza and burgers to lobster and grilled seasonal veggies is prepared with a creative twist by the chef. it's a small place, casual and fun. i look forward to returning for many more wonderful meals.
