if you like eggs benedict or if you have never tried them but have thought about it, go directly to little gretel. the muffin was toasted nice and crispy. the ham was sliced nice and thick. the eggs were poached into perfect puffs. and the sauce, it was to die for. i have enjoyed eggs benedict all over europe, england and the good old usa and there are none to compare. ona scale of 1 to 10 these are a 25! thanks to the best chefs in boerne.

best pancakes!. we love little gretel! on our first visit, my husband ordered the pancakes and said, "these are the best pancakes i have ever had" and passed me his plate to try them. i agreed and have now decided not to bother making pancakes at home anymore because there is no way they can compare. i can't comment on any of the food other than breakfast, but it's a wonderful place to go and sit outside on a warm morning and enjoy the best pancakes you've ever had.

tasty food..bad service. i went for sunday brunch after reading a review in the express news. i ordered pancakes which were light and fluffy. the bowl of clam chowder had a nice taste to it, creamy but not too heavy. however, i was completely disappointed with the service. the waitstaff was nice but not attentive. i had to wait about an hour for the food to arrive. i did not order anything special so i am not sure why it took so long. i was on my way to look for my server to ask for water...i had asked before but to no avail. she did finally show up. those small things matter to me as a customer. i think they need to have more waitstaff on hand. maybe the review in the paper created more traffic and hence the poor service. if i know the service will continue to be of this quality i will skip the place next time.

fabulous. this is a 4 star restaurant. chef delaplane is given raves monthly in the sunday taste of the san antonio express. don't be fooled by the competition's negative reviews. the food is superb and should not be missed.

hill country german with a contemporary flair. i've not eaten a formal meal at little gretel yet, but i am headed back next week for both breakfast and dinner. we stopped off for afternoon coffee and had a delightful experience. two of the desserts were no longer on the menu - the lintzer torte and one other.

but we tried the apple torte and the hansel kisses... very tasty! the apple torte was a true german dessert as it wasn't too sweet. the hansel kisses had meringue with almonds, and homemade ice cream. it was rich, so a little went a long way. strong, good coffee was the accompaniment.

the chef/owner, denise, even came out and visited and her husband who works in the cute shop next door also came over to chat.

based on this experience alone, i highly recommend this restaurant. there are also two neat shops that you can visit before or after your meal.

how to loose a patron. lunch , great location, hospitality & service. poor food quality, viennese snitzel ( house specialty)a plain piece of leather, beer battered haddock, soggy and tasteless. we might give it a second chance...? decor relaxing and tasteful. dommage.

great addition to boerne. pray they have the stuffed pork chop on the menu when they visit, i believe it's a seasonal dish. it melts in your mouth. the schnitzle tasted great as well. lunch is light and easy. still needing to stop by for breakfast but i hear great things.

enjoyable lunch. really enjoyed our meal here. the waitress was pleasant and the food good. the cobb salad was perfect with a wonderful homemade shallot balsamic dressing. the schnitzel was good. a little over cooked but the sauce and the spatzel made up for it. look forward to returning.

yum. i came on the day that they had czech chefs visiting in the kitchen... maybe it doesn't always taste this good... but that impression will stick with me forever. the liver dumpling soup & schnitzel were delicious!! comparable to my grandpa's soups and he is a hungarian chef... never tasted anything so close in comparison. yum yum yum!!
slow service though.. they could use another helping hand.
