lemongrass sushi & wok

my daughter's favorite sushi in town...and my favorite kung pao. this is one of our favorite places to eat in town. it is always my 10 year old daughter's first choice. she is a sushi lover and their sushi is by far her favorite. she gets the amarillorollwhich includes steak (of course, being an amarillo roll) and cucumber (she adds avocado and likes to get extra teriyaki on the side). my wife's favorite is either the tootsierollwith tempura salmon and cream cheese or the sushi lovers which is a whole tempurarollwith salmon and cucumber).

i discovered their kung pao beef my first visit there and haven't been able to move off of it yet. it is my favorite in the city. it has a very unique sauce and the beef is perfect for kung pao.

the owners lee and lacy always make you feel welcome and if you are lucky you will get to meet their young daughter, katie. she is adorable and a highlight of a visit to lemongrass.

the atmosphere is elegant and quiet. a great place to eat if you want to be able to visit and hear each other. they have really done everything right.

when walking into this resturaunt the first thing you see is a big menu of what they serve and then there's a big sushi like buffet, and you can also see the sushi chef and chef cooking food if you'd like, the customer service was good overall, we ordered the crab rangoon to start off and that was really good, then ordered the honey lemon chicken with white rice, also ordered the amarillorolland the california roll, the amarillo was very good, the calirollwas decent, and the entree was delicious, price was good for what we ordered.

been here before and it was good but was very disapointed this time. $9 for combo fried rice and the portion was very small. also, the shrimp (2) did not look cleaned well. phillyrollwas ok. over-priced. i probably wont go back.

terrible! i had the sushi loversrolland it tasted like mayo and thats it! had no other flavors besides the mayo it was caked in. the sesame chicken was really dry and flavorless. i also ordered brown rice and got the white jasmine rice and it was sticky and nasty.

what happened?. since my last visit earlier this year, lemongrass sushi & wok must have changed hands. instead of ordering as you walk in, you are now seated at a table and a server takes your order. the booths are gone and in their place are benches. the paint is off of the walls where the old booths were but no one bothered to touch up the paint- how sad. the sushi we were served smelled like old fish, a big indication that it was not fresh at all. rolls were horrible. waitress didn't seem surprised that we didn't like them and offered to bring us something else, but it was too late to try another potentially bad dish. lettuce wraps were delicious however. we will scratch lemongrass sushi & wok off of our list and head down the street to bangkok tokyo.

nice choice @ western & i-40. a recent lunch visit was a nice experience. you order as you walk in- the menu is is on the wall or you can take a menu to a table to look over, then return to the counter to place your order. you pay when you order, so if you are using plastic you have to add your tip in then. risky to tip before you dine, but luckily our server was great. egg drop soup isn't amarillo's best (must visit thai star), but tasty. summer rolls are either shrimp or chicken- we tried chicken for a change and they were fresh and flavorful (for better ones try thai palace or ly's). californiarollwas good, a bit heavy on the rice though. kung pao chicken was delicious, great sauce and spice with dried peppers. i wouldn't call it spicy, but a bit above mild. the jasmine rice was light and delicious. our server was great- we never had an empty glass and he made sure everything was wonderful. another person (owner?) also checked on us, and we were greeted as we entered and left. wine is also available. we will return and try more items!

love at first bite!. i've been eating here since they first opened! awsome prices for what they serve and especially compared to other places. if you go, king kongrollis a must try!

outstanding. we enjoyed the food, price, and selection. the atmosphere is nice and not overbearing with loud music, nor is the restaurant over decorated. our waiter was a super cool fellow, very attentive but not always interrupting the meal. we had a chance to meet the owner who politely asked our opinion; he was a well mannered gentleman, who seemed genuinely interested in our opinions. the food was great, i had 2 different sushi rolls and fried rice, my wife had 1 sushirolland dumplings. nothing out of place or overbearing in flavor, just as anticipated. the food was presented well on the plates and "sauced" correctly (for my taste), not too much to remove the other flavors. the staff was knowledgeable and willing to answer the seemingly simplest of questions, being that we are sushi novices. we decided we found our new favorite asian restaurant.

my family and i went there for the first time today. our waitress was sweet and provided excellent service considering there was seven of us! food came out fast, and the owner paid us a visit and asked how everything was. we had for appetizers: summer rolls, fried greenbeans, miso and egg drop soups. the greenbeans were my favorite! we all shared sushi as well; we had the volcano roll, baby gecko roll, tootsie roll, king kong roll, tiger's eye, and yellow tail sashimi-delicious!! eachrollwas beautifully prepared,fresh, and to die for! price is reasonable too! i'll definitely be back:)
