its not very often that we wonder off to the west rand however on this occasion we decided to stop off at leafy greens for lunch.
we started our lunch off with a coconut and an extremely yummy fresh mango juice.
lunch was the buffet. now natually i'm not the biggest fan of buffets, they always remind me of sad, thrown together catering events of food thats been standing for hours.
having said that, i've heard that leady greens buffet is actually pretty decent.
now thats an understatement. with the biggest variety of healthy, organic, freshly picked and made vegan options to choose from.
i chose a little bit of everything which ended up being the entire plate.
hiding my enormous plate of vegan yumminess i headed off to our table.
fresh, raw julienne veggies in a rice paper wrap; incredible spinach pasta, probably the best vegan version of chilli con carne, 'caprese salad', roasted potatoes and salsa.
we somehow managed to work our way through this enormous meal. so full we couldn't even move.
we asked the waiter to suggest a dessert we could force down. he suggested the cheesecake.
now that was something. getting a normal cheesecake right is a challenge on its own. but making a delectable vegan cheesecake, oh. my. yum. chocolate cheesecake with a coconut crust. agh ❤
we ordered cappuccinos with the dessert. now being italian maybe it wasn't fair putting a vegan cappuccino against traditional ones. loved the coconut sugar, that was divine and very cool. but the actual cappuccino wasn't great at all.
service could have been better. the waiters seemed to walk straight past us, without a care in the world. things seemed to take muuuch longer to happen than they should. they were lovely when they were there though.
it also seemed slightly pricy, we didnt over-do it and the bill came to almost r600. however i understand a lot more work goes into making these dishes, the products of which can't be cheap.
what made the entire experience worth it was walking down through the orchards, seeing all the fresh, organically grown produce that we just ate. as well as the chickens whose eggs are used and sold in the store.
so my advice; the buffet is amazing !! and so worth a try but go there hungry. you cannot miss out on the dessert but maybe give the coffees a skip, perhaps a tea is a better option. and do not go in a hurry, this is a very chilled, laid back restaurant.
