last weekend i met up with my foodie crew for a last minutedinneron a friday night.  so here is how the planning went. at about noon we realized that we were all free that evening and since that never happens we scrambled to find a spot suitable for dinner. i of course advocated for some new spots which turned out to be the “hottest seats in town.” we headed to opentable and searched based on availability (#foodietip).  from there we landed on la table, the galleria reincarnation that has been around for a few years.  dinner at la table seemed perfect for a friday night so i hit the book button.  keep reading for the rest of our experience!

looking forward to next visit

we had a great booth table upstairs that nicely accommodated our tall group of four adults. all staff from main entrance to upstairs were so welcoming. we dined during houston restaurants weeks and the wine pairings 3-coursedinnerwas a no brainer option. between all of us every option on that menu was chosen. service, presentation and quality were excellent. noting that downstairs dining is a bit more casual and there is a great bakery case, we all agreed that returning to try downstairs (or upstairs) is a definite must.

we here at urban swank love to find new places that make us feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside! well to say this place is new is not really fair, but to say this place finally has found their groove is more accurate. let me first take you back so i can bring you current and you all can understand my excitement! many of you probably remember the former french restaurant, philippe restaurant & lounge on post oak that served its lastdinnerservice jan. 11, 2014 before reopening as table on post oak with more american fare. the new concept really never took off and the place always seemed like a repurposed space that could be so much more. i could never put my finger on it because the space was amazing (even though i thought of many different ways i would have designed the lounge downstairs to make better use of space) and the menu selections and execution of the dishes were delicious so that wasn’t it either. now fast forward to this space going through yet another reinvention and back to a french concept…welcome la table houston.
