last weekend i met up with my foodie crew for a last minute dinner on a friday night.  so here is how the planning went. at about noon we realized that we were all free that evening and since that never happens we scrambled to find a spot suitable for dinner. i of course advocated for some new spots which turned out to be the “hottest seats in town.” we headed to opentable and searched based on availability (#foodietip).  from there we landed on la table, the galleria reincarnation that has been around for a few years.  dinner at la table seemed perfect for a friday night so i hit the book button.  keep reading for the rest of our experience!

fantastic!

we celebrated my grand mom's 79th birthday at la table last week and they made everything very special. the food, champagne, creme brulee and macaroons were delicious! the wait staff were so sweet and adoring to my mom - it was a great celebration

great for brunch. the lobster bisque was sooo good, with a hint of peppers! hubby got eggs benedict and i ordered egg white frittata. food was a little over salted, but waiter apologized and comped us cookies to go! we asked for extra sauces and the cook obliged, service was quick and thoughtful. overall, a great relaxing classy atmosphere and experience for a saturday afternoon.

looking forward to next visit

we had a great booth table upstairs that nicely accommodated our tall group of four adults. all staff from main entrance to upstairs were so welcoming. we dined during houston restaurants weeks and the wine pairings 3-course dinner was a no brainer option. between all of us every option on that menu was chosen. service, presentation and quality were excellent. noting that downstairs dining is a bit more casual and there is a great bakery case, we all agreed that returning to try downstairs (or upstairs) is a definite must.

my experience at la table was pretty good, we’ve ordered different dishes from appetizer to main course, the quinoa salad, sliders and the mushroom ravioli were delicious, we’ve ordered as well the the garden salad which i wouldn’t recommend if you’re already ordering the quinoa, and the truffle flatbread which doesn’t have a rich taste of truffle but it wasn’t bad, the ambiance and atmosphere was lovely, the interior designer have done a great job. the service was little slow. i would highly recommend the place if you’re celebrating an occasion, good value for money.

we here at urban swank love to find new places that make us feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside! well to say this place is new is not really fair, but to say this place finally has found their groove is more accurate. let me first take you back so i can bring you current and you all can understand my excitement! many of you probably remember the former french restaurant, philippe restaurant & lounge on post oak that served its last dinner service jan. 11, 2014 before reopening as table on post oak with more american fare. the new concept really never took off and the place always seemed like a repurposed space that could be so much more. i could never put my finger on it because the space was amazing (even though i thought of many different ways i would have designed the lounge downstairs to make better use of space) and the menu selections and execution of the dishes were delicious so that wasn’t it either. now fast forward to this space going through yet another reinvention and back to a french concept…welcome la table houston.

nice place, nice area.. i felt like they may be closing soon, the place was empty. what a shame because its a very nice restaurant and food wasn't bad (although went we went there for lunch we only ordered salads). haven't been there for dinner.
with so many new places to dine around the area this one looked like it's not being able to compete.

table. food & service was great.
the restaurant was empty .
no body else than me and my friend were there.
it felt weird and made us wonder if the food would be fresh.

...inside a wide-rimmed bowl, generous dollops of crème fraiche are strewn with amaretti crumbs and a few sage leaves; over your shoulder comes a stream of tangerine soup into the bowl, melting its contents so that an effortless swoop of your spoon yields an ethereally light mouthful, rich and sweet and earthy all at once.

both the spicy lamb burger ($15) and bbq pulled pork sandwich ($11) read better on the menu than they tasted: again, the burger that was ordered rare arrived well done, and the pulled pork was timid and underseasoned. however both sandwiches came with hot and delicious parmesan rosemary fries.
