outstanding!!!. someone on a forum recommended lafarmbakery to us for breakfast while we were visiting the triangle area. i sure am glad they did, it was wonderful. my wife is an accomplished baker, and she was just as impressed as i was. we had a great breakfast, and even took some pastries to go, but they were gone by noon. wonderful, wonderful breakfast and other baked goods, charming but informal atmosphere with friendly, knowledgeable folks behind the counters. highly recommended!

downhill fast. my wife and i have eaten at lafarmwell over 60 times. the last four have been horrible experiences. today i ordered a chicken avocado salad. it comes with a sliced hard boil egg. one bite of the egg and i had to spit it out because the taste was so bad that i can not even describe. the salads use to come with two slices of cheese bread. today i received one slice of stale plain bread. my salad served on a 9 inch by 9 inch plate was no more than one inch high. i counted six fork fulls and it was gone. they gave me on the side salad dressing that was about one tablespoon. the quality has rapidly got terrible. will never go back. the worse however is the owner would not come out and talk to me nor returned messages. my wife's turkey sandwich was not much better. she threw half away. fast forward three months. management reached out to me and was very concerned about my bad experience. they explained that there was a management transition and we just happen to eat there during this time. my wife and i ate there yesterday and the food portion and quality was as good as it has ever been. remember we would have never eaten there that much if it had not been delicious. i have never had a restaurant express more concern about a bad experience. bon appetit for another 60 meals!!!

the classes at lafarmare a nice mix of demonstration and hands-on. on the schedule for tonight is a fruit tart, crepes, profiteroles and chocolate mousse, yum! in some cases the recipes we’re making tonight (chocolate mousse, chilled pastry dough) would take more time than what we have allotted for the entire class. so we start the recipe and then lionel already has the mostly finished version in back for us to enjoy.

it’s served on toasted lafarmbread–their signature light sourdough made in a three-day process–with ham, imported gruyère, homemade mornay sauce, and fresh chopped chives. in case that’s not decadent enough, the sandwich is topped with a mozzarella-provolone blend as well as two fried eggs. naturally, this is a knife-and-fork affair, as the egg yolks ooze out beautifully into the chewy, buttery bread. the flavors are well-balanced, with the meat mingling well with the melted cheese. if you’re looking to green up the croque madam, you can add sautéed spinach for under a dollar. at lunch, there’s a “petite salade” with housemade champagne vinaigrette to counter the intensity of the sandwich, while at breakfast the croque madame comes with fruit. for more information, check out the serious eats story, here .

watching him work the ovens on the morning batch one begins to understand ‘the dance’.  flowing yet calculated moves, shifting racks, opening doors to peer into hot ovens, pulling out loaves, touching, tapping, to either return to heat for a few more minutes or to pull unto a filled rack and allowed to breathe cool.  long baguettes are placed individually by hand, scored or cut for final shaping and handled with intent, all the while discussing a desired length from a wholesale client with another baker.  it’s 5:00am, i’ve just arrived…they have been dancing for hours. it’s not news that lionel vatinet and lafarmbakery are well known in the area.  since opening in the late 1990′s, lafarmhas been considered one of the go-to spots for spot-on breads and that recognition has carried him beyond our little corner of th

dynamite breads. good lunch fare trending toward lighter menu items. potentially crushed with business at lunch during the week.

everything here is to die for. unfortunately, everyone else agrees, so it is bedlam no matter when you go. we have given up ever trying to eat in and just pop in for bakery items to go. wish it weren't so crowded and insane. but everything at lafarmis fabulous... except the crowds.

visited lafarmbakery twice. the first time i had a chocolate croissant which had only a small amount of chocolate. the second time i had the french toast. it came with only one strawberry, and since the description said 'strawberries' i complained. the staff brought me out two other strawberries (which was nice) but she said that that was more than they normally give. i found this a bit cheap, especially considering the high price.

i've driven by lafarmcountless times, and the only reason i hadn't stopped before is because they stop serving their breakfast menu at 11am. i usually eat breakfast immediately after i wake up, but i like to get breakfasts at lunch again too. but after

best bakery in the triangle. i love the bread, lunch and brunch here. it's difficult to find fresh bread around here and this place is definitely worth the 25 minute drive from downtown raleigh. if you are lucky you can also find lafarmbread at wholefoods.
