was not blown away. i was very excited to finally try this place and went there for supper the other day. i may of over-hyped myself before i got there because i was expecting a little more from the food. that being said both our meals (goat curry, spicy peanut shrimp) were very good and we had no complaints with anything, except maybe thought prices were a little high. overall it was a good dining experience, but everyone had this place hyped up so much we were just expecting a little more. i did like it, but probably will not be back as it didn't leave much of an impression on me.

awesome food! went here today for lunch and had the curry wrap. it was just fantastic and the banana sauce is phenomenal! the owner was super good to us and the service was fantastic. good prices + great food + awesome service = phenomenal experience!

well kept secret!. johnny cakes, yummy! my 6 & 8 year olds lovevd every bite. we order b/c we had groupons. we ordered the spicy peanut, 2 shrimp creole and curry shrimp. all ordered with rice n beans! can't get enough, because my husband is bringing home all the same orders on friday :)

great food. i was in saskatoon on business and stopped into the konga cafe. i was thourougly impressed with the food - fresh, flavorful and memorable. i went for the special of the day - mahi-mahi w/ jerk sauce. the fish was grilled beautifully and the jerk sauce was very tasty. i will definatly return if i am ever back in saskatoon!

good food fun atmosphere and great owner/operator/chefs make this a winning combo. a little off the beaten path but worth the trip.

this is definitely my favourite restaurant! my boyfriend and i come there all the time! the jerk mahi mahi is so amazing! i recommend this place to everyone!

it was good. we just went last friday for a birthday and i was not blown away, but it was still good. i ordered the ox tale which was described as being a lean tender beef. i have never had ox tale before and so when it came i was a bit disappointed. the meat was very fatty and it was mostly bone in the centre and had a little bit of meat on the outside of the bone. the meat that i could find was very good and soft, however there was a lot of fat and i am not a fan of fat. the potatoes that came with my dish were very good and so were the vegetables. however for $22 it was very expensive since it was mostly potatoes and maybe 2 - 3 oz of meat. next time i will get the rib special, which looked excellent. the johnny cakes are like thick elephant ears and are very good with some sauce that is on the table.

it was ok. i went for lunch and expected to have the supper menu since thats what is online. i was sadly disappointed by the menu to be honest, more of a canadian burger place then african fair.

will have to return in the evening to try what i actually wanted. you would have better luck eating somewhere else for something authentic during lunch.

where did this gem come from?!?!. wow...this place is good on every level. i went here with my wife an our friend earlier this evening, so i'll walk readers through our experience.

we reserved a table, so when we got there glasses of icewater were waiting. we were also greeted by an incredibly nice and attentive waitress. we received a tasty starter: deep fried johnny-cakes. i could eat these every day for the rest of my life. next came our apps. my wife and i both had the soup (tonight's was a pumpkin soup with chicken, potatoes, and beans), while our friend had a caesar salad. everything...everything was made from scratch, to our hearty soups to the authentic caesar salad dressing with anchovies. a beautiful start. oh, and even though we ordered the small soups and half salad, our portions were more than adequate.

next was entres. i ordered the west indian curry chicken off the menu. it was a delicious dish that came with a coconut rice with red beans. a cold can of coconut water was the perfect drink to accompany the meal. my wife had a rib special, pork with a slightly spicy mango sauce. they were cooked beautifully. our friend had a spicy mahi mahi. although it was spicy from the jerk sauce, she said it may have been the best piece of fish she's ever had in a resaurant. i had a bite, and i agree, it was tremendous. both of their dishes came with side of roasted potatoes which were carmalized and tasty.

we couldn't resist, so we chased it down with a round of key lime pie. it was the perfect finish.

i'll close by mentioning a couple things. this place has a great, laid-back and friendly atmosphere. we were greeted by the owner and the chef, and all of the waitstaff clearly love coming to work. the prices might shock someone who is looking for a cheaper eatery, but i assure you this meal was worth every penny. lastly, don't be afraid of the condimints. they are an adventure in themselves. bravo konga, you have three new fans.

great atmosphere. tiny resturant with big flavours! johnnycakes when you come in, served with 3 different hot sauces get you ready for your meal ahead. service can be a little slow, especially if it is a bit busier.

wow - yummy. incredible flavour in everything we ate. my 16 year old loved the curry goat and my 10 year old thought the soup was the best he has ever eaten. overall family of 5 really all very happy with the service, ambiance and extremely well cooked and favourable meals. we all left quite full and happy. will definitely be back many times over.

love this place! amazing food! fun servers! quirky, colourful island ambiance. it's the only place where i actually enjoy the veggies on my plate! peanut shrimp.is to die for!

mediocre. not as good as the current rating would suggest. also overpriced. two dishes (out of four) had rice instead of potatoes and beans instead of peas.

another night, another awesome time. i went there last night with my wife and some friends. i had the ribs with the house salad, and it was, as usual, great. everyone with us likes the place. my wife had the spicy peanut shrimp and potatoes and was happy with it as well.

the staff is cheerful & friendly, the food is great. why wouldn't you go there?

awesome staff. the food, as usual, was at it's usual high standard but what truly sets this place apart from any other restaurants i have been to in saskatoon is the staff. the wait staff treats you like close friends, the owner is always friendly and even though they are busy, the waitresses are attentive, friendly and always helpful.

i could talk about the food as well, but this has been well covered by everyone else here. one of the people i regularly go with has yet to order from the menu, as he loves the specials so much (mahi-mahi, ribs or curried goat).

this is the best restaurant in saskatoon.

best food in the city. i love this place, best in the city. the potatoes are awesome, the staff is cheerful and friendly. i am shocked this place is not always full!

i can't believe it took us so many years to find out about this place! now that we know the way i'm sure it will be one of our go-to restaurants in saskatoon. the atmosphere is very laidback, warm, and the guy serving us (eddie?) was great fun!
the spicy peanut shrimp does sound like a weird mix, but it's delicious. jerky chicken was amazing, and the roasted potatoes and grilled vegetables were perfectly cooked and very tasty.
i had the dark and stormy drink and was very pleased.
please order the key lime pie - it is so very good, i think they should sell it in truckloads.
all in all, a fantastic find!
