relaxed atmosphere. i have visited konga cafe for lunch and the food was surprisingly good. love the jonny cakes. the atmosphere is very relaxed and laid back but if that is your type of setting and you like jamician food dig in. very good prices also.

a fun time. the service was amazing. the servers were very sociable and friendly. the food took a bit of time to get there but it was worth the wait. the tropical bbq chicken (i think it was) reminded me of a grilled chicken that i used to have at swiss chalet. it was very delicious. the johnny cakes were a great starter, which we managed to get a second helping of. looking forward to the next visit to try some of the other items on the menu.

a slice of paradise in saskatoon... the kongo cafe is one of my favourite eateries in the world.. mainly because the food is top notch but also because of the fact it could be -25 outside yet still one feels the caribbean ambiance eddie, marcia and staff create. keep up the great work guys!!

first time will not be my last.... finally was able to try this place after hearing so many great things about it, and it didn't let me down. i had their ox tail special with roasted potatoes. it was one of the best meals i have had in this city. the very fresh, and very tasty jonny cake was a very nice starter for the meal. i am now at home enjoying a piece of key lime pie that we took to go. all in all, if your looking for something a little bit different, check this place out.

excellent. just went there for supper with our two kids. service was excellent - the waitress was so friendly and helpful. food was wonderful. it started off with johnny cakes and she gave us 3 sauces and explained what exactly they were and the heat level. we had the ribs, jerk chicken, the special which was goat stew with rice and beans and the biggest hamburger i've ever seen. we ended sharing a piece of key lime pie as we had no room left. the food wasn't spicy but flavorful. the kids now want to make this our "friday night" spot and are looking forward to the next visit. was glad we tried it.

you've gotta try it!. very nice owners (friendly and easy to talk to), laid back atmosphere, and of course (and most importantly) fantastic food. the soup is always delicious, the main courses are substantial with great flavour, and the key lime pie is out of this world.

i recently had the west indian curry chicken and it was incredibly tender with a really flavourful (but not spicy) sauce. the bits of apple were a nice addition to the overall taste of the dish and went wonderfully with the curry. the potatoes and other vegetables that came with the meal were also tasty and flavourful. we also tried the crab cake appetizer (a daily special), and it was very good. overall, we were blown away by the whole experience. great food, nice people!

if you haven't tried the konga cafe yet, you should make it a priority, and make sure you try the soup and a slice of the key lime pie.

great food & service. great homestyle west indian food. curried goat, oxtail, jerk ribs etc. all really good. the soups are always hearty and interesting, and the johnnycakes dipped into the spicy banana sauce are alone worth a visit.
owners/operators eddie and marcia are great hosts and really care about the food they send out. it shows.
did i mention red stripe beer, expertly mixed tropical drinks and the best key lime pie ever?
go there. you'll like it.

friendliest service in town. i must admit, as a white boy rasta who plays in a reggae band, this place speaks to me on so many levels. the owner is amazing, older white guy with his jamaican wife cooking away in the back. he kinda reminds me of rodney dangerfield, both in looks and attitude, always cracking jokes. he never rushes, never lingers, always keeping everything under control no matter how busy it gets. the reason the food is slightly overpriced is because they source a lot of authentic ingredients straight from jamaica, which can be pricey.

real jerk, real jamaican curry goat, awesome rum drinks, great selection of hot sauce. if you've not been, you're missing out!

always order the soup!. the soup is always delicious -- doesn't matter what kind. i don't know why i even bother to ask what the soup of the day is, because i always order it and it's always incredible. i'm glad i don't work nearby, or i would be there every day for lunch.
i don't think the prices are higher than at other restaurants, but even if they were, i wouldn't mind. if i'm going to eat chicken in a wrap or a sandwich, i don't want to encounter any hidden gristly bits. at konga, the food is always high quality.
