inside disneys polynesian resort. kona cafe was the place to be for our 10 year anniversary. great breakfast options. the amount of people here daily is overwhelming. this place is always hoppin. ann was our server today. starting us off with some great kona coffee. kona coffee press pot is the best way to start this party. this was so smooth. i am still feeling the effects of it. big kahuna. french toast, pancakes topped with pineapple sauce and macadamia nut butter, eggs, home-fried potatoes, ham, bacon, and sausage. tonga toast. banana stuffed sour dough french toast rolled in cinnamon sugar and served with strawberry compote and bacon. overall great place to start off your day. amazing breakfast! kona café (407) 939-3463 1600 seven seas drive lake buena vista, fl 32830 location: seven seas dr,bay lake, united states

kona has got to be one of my favorite food spots at disney. breakfast here is great and if you love coffee the kona press pots will make your day. dinner options are excellent as well. serving sizes are almost large and we typically end up with more than we can eat. service is consistently good. it's a fun spot to watch people coming and going from the monorail too for entertainment

we had booked a dinner reservation for 5:30: but were referred to two different lines before we arrived at kona cafe, late for our reservation, arriving at 5:50.  we were told that they would text us when our table was ready. we were seated at right before 7:00. our server was luisa and she was a jewel. she suggested the ginger chicken for my husband's dinner. i wanted crab cakes on my salad but that could not be done so i ordered them separately, crab cakes as an appetizer and kona salad for dinner. luisa brought us the pineapple rolls with macadamia butter which were totally fabulous. i received my appetizer at 7:15 and we ate them quickly and the crab cakes were small but good. finally at 7:45 we received our dinner. my husband said the ginger chicken was outstanding and my salad was ok at best, but very small. during this time, luisa kept monitoring our food in the kitchen and we so appreciated it.  the food and service was very good. we left and had a dole whip outside of the polynesian hotel for dessert. .

the mai tai was large, stout, & tasty. the pork chop was tasteless, tough, & dry. there was some chimichurri sauce & sliced mushrooms, carrots, & potatoes (perhaps an eight of a cup worth total) also lacking in flavor, hard, & dry. the hit of the meal was the (haiwaia) rolls with whipped butter & macadamian nuts.

the service here is awesome! we had the best waiter at this restaurant of our whole vacation. he was attentive, provided suggestions, and good conversation.

the only reason i am not giving it a perfect score is that i wasn't overly impressed with their sushi. i had the california luau roll, it needs some sort of sauce to add more flavor. pineapple, avocado, crab, and rice surprisingly weren't very flavorful.

we also tried the the steamed pork buns and pot stickers. i've had steamed pork buns before and there were just as tasty. there is just something about the bun i can't get enough of. the sauce that came with the pot stickers was yummy.

for dinner we both had the coffee-chili rubbed pork tenderloin. we cleaned our bowls! the coconut milk polenta was so creamy and delicious. taking a bit of polenta with pork and greens was the perfect bite.

the real star i think is the complimentary hawaiian bread with macadamia nut butter. this is so good i had to hold myself back so others could get a piece.

if you are looking for a little hawaiian asian fusion this is the place to go. we started with dumplings (which were excellent) sushi and crab cakes. i had the duck breast which was very flavourful and my wife had the steak. the steak came with roasted garlic. a very good meal.

the kona café is a casual café, which offers a nice relaxed setting for those who would like to have more leisurely, sit down meals. so if you are in a hurry to hit the theme parks and don’t want to dwell on your meals, this cafe may not be an ideal choice. the food is very average but it is nice to have a spot to lounge around in and take a break from the hurry-scurry vacation that disney can turn into.

arrived at the kona cafe around 11:30. we were told seating began at noon for lunch, and were given a buzzer. we were summoned just before 12 and promptly seated. the kona french press coffee is a must for any avid coffee drinker. the sushi was delicious, the fire kona (or something of similar name) being the standout. the noodle bowls were also praised, and were quite large portions. john, our waiter, was fantastic. we weren't able to use our vacation club discount, as new year's day was a "blackout date." would definitely eat there again. make sure to head down to the outdoor lanai afterwards to get some dole whip for dessert.

this was our third visit to kona cafe, and while the first two were both good, this one was outstanding. the polynesian resort has been updated in the last year or so, and that included some nice improvements to both the look and menu at kona cafe. the menu is more diverse than ever before. an abbreviated (but nonetheless interesting) sushi menu accompanies a good selection of asian and polynesian inspired dishes.

we had sushi appetizers, which were excellent. the kona sushi combo plate was particularly good, with awesome tuna poke along with generous portions of both salmon sashimi and the california luau roll.

i had the premium burger, which combined delicious beef, creamy brie, and spicy fried shrimp with a black garlic aioli. these elements all worked together surprisingly well to make for a memorable burger.

the star entree we tried was an asian noodle bowl, which equated to a huge portion of pho filled with steak, asian vegetables, and a deeply flavored broth. if you enjoy pho, this is the perfect entree choice.

the desserts were likewise excellent. the lava cake has been a kona cafe signature for years and remains a great choice. we also had a tasty warm apple tart with cinnamon gelato and a macadamia bacon brittle as topping.

the atmosphere here is open and airy, with the entire restaurant flowing into the resort's large main atrium. the sun shines in from the main windows and skylights above.

highly recommended. if you are visiting magic kingdom and want a good lunch, it is easy to take the monorail here and back without missing much park time.

typically have great food here but my meal was disappointing. had the sushi. it was dry tasted pre-made like supermarket sushi. even the wasabi was so dry it would not dissolve in the soy sauce. it didn't even arrive with soy sauce or chop-sticks until 10 min after it arrived. i will go back but will not be ordering the sushi.

hands down, best breakfast on property!!!  every single dish we had was
awesome.  we had the samoan, macadamia pancakes and egg white omelet.  i
am a big fan of eggs benedict and any play on the original is a must
try for me.  add in pork and i am 100% in.  the flavors blended
perfectly to make a rich breakfast.  the pancakes were fluffy and had a
great crunch from the nuts.  add macadamia nut butter and how can you go
wrong!  the omelet was the stand out which surprised me.  full of
roasted red peppers, spinach and goat cheese!  get your self a pot of
kona pressed coffee and some lilikoi juice and start your day off with a
bang!

according to the menu, the samoan is poached eggs with hollandaise over smoked pulled pork hash. the dish was amazing and bursting with flavor! the hash was made of pulled pork, sautéed onions, english muffin croutons and potatoes. it was awesome! i also ordered a fresh fruit cup on the side.
