kimchi sushi

ok, but would rather go elsewhere. heard great things about this restaurant. setting was nice. looking at their menu it seems they are trying to emulate similar rolls from kenko niwa. although they were similar, i still think kenko makes way better sushi. their tnt roll was not even half as good as kenko. eel sauce was super salty and roll was lacking flavour. spicy prawn salad was pretty good and so was the xoxoxo roll. otherwise service was horrible. waitress got my order wrong and it took 1hr+ for us to receive our order. that's way too long for a few rolls and an appetizer. we had to ask 3 times about our order. and they had the nerve to add a tip onto our bill for a group of 6. i personally didn't feel she deserved the tip, but didn't want to create a scene. personally for the prices you pay for these items, i would much rather go somewhere else where the quality and service is better like kenko or wasabi.

menu looks great but i didn't even order because the crab is imitation, not real.

delicious sushi. price was reasonable. california, shrimp tempura, and chicken teriyaki were about $4 per roll. i liked the decor. food was slow to come out and as other reviewers have mentioned, the food did not come out all at once. service definitely needs improvement! because the food was great and the restaurant's so close to home, i wvise most likely visit again.

unfortunately, the fact that the food does taste good, doesn't compensate for the extremely long wait time to actually get your meal. we had initially given the restaurant the benefit of the doubt the first time we went there and our food took long to come, but when it happened the second time, and it took even longer than the first, that did it for us. we got our korean food first, and the sushi took well over 30 mins to get. our waitress proceeded to tell us that the korean food simply comes out faster, as if this was an excuse, and didn't even bother apologizing for the wait. service was subpar. there was one waitress who actually seemed to have it together, but sadly wasn't the one helping us.
overall, i wouldn't come back to dine in. if i may make a suggestion, i say just do take out.

good sushi, really good bbq , good service, the hostess did a wonderful job. she went out of her way to make sure we enjoyed our experience and checked up on us. will definitely go back !

love their bulgogi!! will definitely go back!! love the interiors of the resto.

i ordered bulgogi + the 4 sides. it was good but the rice is so little. i wanted more rice tho :/

over priced and mediocre food. service was horrible. food did not come all at once, and the server did not tell us what the dish was, just simply placed the food on the table and left. when the food did arrive, it was unsatisfactory. the edamame was severly overcooked. kalbi was dry. the rolls were okay. just seems like a bunch of kids running the restaurant. i would rather go to kim baek for korean food.

the place does have potential. decor is awesome. food presentation is pretty good. bulgogi and kalbi is delicious. some of the sushi was just ok. the rice was thick and hard and sushi could use a bit more filling? sushi pizza could use a little more topping. service needs improvement.

has the potential. this place probably has the best tasting sushi in winnipeg. the only downside to it is the location/service.

the waitresses really don't seem like they care about their jobs. the service was mediocre and most of them were on their cell phones the whole time. although, there was one girl who seemed to know what quality service is.

other then that, i would say overall this place is pretty decent.

tl;dr - 8.5/10

good sushi but service was horrible.
- no one answers the phone
- food doesn't come out all together. was stuck watching the other person eat
- they opened the windows, only for me to see the cooks smoking
- was there for greater than an hour uneccessarily
- server dropped dishes and a used cup fell on a guest
- servers seem inexperienced
- couldn't enjoy my meal because of all the crap that was going on

i suggest you do take out.

one of the best sushi places i've eaten at in winnipeg, and i've eaten at a lot of them. went in there friday night to place an order for takeout, and it was incredibly packed, as well as the phone ringing off the hook for takeout. needless to say it was worth the wait, delicious and large rolls, very little rice so they're big on flavor. didn't get a chance to try any of the korean bbq or other dishes but i will definitely be back in the near future.

i love it! i will be eating here a lot and i gave already handed out take out menus to a few friends. excited to go back again.
