good and bad. stopped by for an early dinner.goodservice and fast. wife got fried pork chops with greens and fruit. i got the lamb burger. both main dishes weregoodwith relatively unimpressive sides. my lamb burger was good. moist and tasty. the pork chops were fine. the wife liked them more than me. but we'll seasoned and nice crunch. i like that it is located right across from legion so we might come back but otherwise it was kind of meh.

great 1st trip!. my wife and i ate here for the first time last week and it was sooo good. we had the gravy fries with pimento cheese, which was cheesy goodness. for dinner i had the beef tips and they were perfect with mash potatoes and hush puppies. great food,goodservice and we will be back soon to try the banana pudding:)

i've been coming here for years now, it's a nice place withgoodvibe.

we ordered the diamond boy, brian's ct dog, winky-dinky dog and hushpuppies. the ct dog and the hushpuppies were awesome! she didn't like the winky-dinky dog though. i thought i was agoodchili dog but i couldn't taste much of the pimento cheese. the diamond boy, a pork and bacon patty, was just average doubt i'll order it again.

we had agoodmeal like we normally do from diamond.

been to this joint twice now, both times have been pretty much the same..... reallygoodfood and really bad service. the burgers are big and juicy, the fried pickles crispy and tart, just don't expect a friendly smile from your server.

great neighborhood eatery. great service, reallygoodfood in a nostalgic surrounding. great southern touch.

great experience!. my first time at diamond. being from ny, i've been in alot of dinners. this place had a cooler and more trendy than traditional dinner feel! great wait staff (melody)!!! super friendly, cool and nice, perfect timing for the whole meal! we had a regular and lamb burger. both had great flavor! wish they had a 1/2 lb option, its only 1/3 lb. for a bigger eater 1/2 would be perfect! fried okra was super good! fried pickles weregoodand the mac n' cheese was pritty good. reallygoodflavor on their home made sweet tea! all in all, a great experience! definitely glad we stopped by and tried it out! we will be back!

i thought the cheese and the bacon were asgoodas any i’ve had from any other restaurant we’ve eaten. i loved how the cheese is so huge and is melted all over the burger. the burger was substantial and very tasty.

best burger in charlotte (so far).... read a lot of reviews, some great, some not so great. so me and my buddy decide to go check it out for ourselves. we go on a saturday at 1:30pm, which i figured was agoodtime since it should be just after lunch. but not at the diamond as it was wall to wall crowded!

so we get seated in under 10 minutes, and we both decide to get the burgers since it was our first time here. i've been in charlotte 2 years now, and have had some prettygoodburgers, but i wanted to see if this was "the mecca" for burgers.

a week before, i decided to check out the penguin and i admit that their burgers were damn good! so i thought, no way can the diamond's be any better. boy was i wrong! i got the double and my buddy went for the full hemi (3 patties for a full pound)! we both ordered it medium and they both came that way. always worry about that especially when a restaurant is super busy like the diamond.

so bottom line - the burgers were cooked to perfection! super juicy deliciousness (fatty beef content for flavor) and their fries were home cut and made quite well.

oh, we started the meal with the fried pickles as my buddy never had agoodversion of this dish. and man did we both love them! crispy withgoodseasoning (some cheyenne?) served with ranch! oh so yummy!

back to the burgers.....so after asking for many additional napkins (which is a great sign at a burger joint because you know it's super juicy), we both stated out loud that this is the best burger in charlotte! penguin was a close second, only edged out by the diamond because they cooked my burger to a perfect medium with a nice red/pink center.

so it's a 1 - 2 race, with the diamond in a close lead!

overall, a delicious lunch with a prompt and friendly staff, despite the crowd (anothergoodsign when people literally line up out the door).

can't wait to come back! if you're craving a great burger, come here!

i can actually deal with just about anything or anyone, tattooed idiots included, as long as the food is good. this was possibly the worst fried chicken i've ever had. sweet potato fries sucked as well. bojangles on a bad day has better chicken. if you wantgoodchicken make a trip to zestos in west columbia sc. these guys could learn a few things from them. sincerely - a girl who knowsgoodfood!

just not good. when these guys ran the penguin it was great.
now there food is just not asgoodas it was. i have been in to eat 3 times and never left satisfied. if you want a long wait and food that is just alright on agoodday this is the place.

so glad that they moved.goodto see a local landmark be taken over by people who care about food. after the whole ordeal at the penguin the guys took over here and really didn't have to do much but get there menu and bring it here man am i glad to have my big block burger back great food

i love the diamond just one big gripe i have. i have been in here multiple times and love this joint!goodfood at the diamond. the wait staff are always friendly and the atmosphere is cool. reminds me of a classic dinner with a new modern edge, but without the midwood hyperdermic needles.

the food is reasonable comparably speaking to the price. you will not get the best burger you have every had in your life here, but it will be might tasty enough to come back again.

the fried pickles, sweet potato fries, and hush puppies are alwaysgoodchoices for sides. if you get a burger, i recommend getting it southern style if you like your burgers slopy with chili, slaw, and all the fixings.

my one main gripe is the hamburger bun!!! come one diamond... why do you use the cheapest hamburger buns you can find! the buns always fall apart. they are the same white bread buns you find in the grocery store for $1-2 for 8-12 buns. i know probably are looking to cut some corners in cost, but get better hamburger buns.

other than that everything is great!

tiff. i would just like to saygoodluck to those who place to-go orders. i ordered a greek salad without beets (i am allergic) and got home to find that the person who made my salad put the beets on and then took them off without bothering to make me a new salad. also, half of the other ingredients that were supposed to come with my salad were missing. there is nothing worse than getting home with an order to find that it is incorrect, especially if you don't have time to return to the restaurant. after all, usually people order togo because they are limited in time,etc. this was very much a waste of time and money, and i will not be returning.

a rocky start. note: the diamond re-opened under new ownership in february 2011, so older reviews might not apply.

i eagerly awaited the re-opening of the diamond, and was slightly disappointed when i finally went. of the four menu items i picked as entrees... they were out of all four! although i had taken pains to get there before 9pm (when their menu "shrinks"), i ended up ordering a burger, which was fine, but not what i really wanted. the fries were strange - they looked like standard frozen fries, but were brown, as if fresh cut.

we hung out afterwards, and had agoodtime. the beer selection was pretty good, and staff were still attentive, even though we were just ordering beers.

i have to admit though... i prefer the fried pickles from pinky's.
