been to this joint twice now, both times have been pretty much the same..... really goodfoodand really bad service. the burgers are big and juicy, the fried pickles crispy and tart, just don't expect a friendly smile from your server.

great neighborhood eatery. great service, really goodfoodin a nostalgic surrounding. great southern touch.

horrible service, rude manager, low quality food, and dirty. i've been several times and thefoodis not impressive. the customer service was very poor each time i've gone. if you have a party of 4 be prepared for horrible service from the manager and hostess. we went at 2pm on a sunday with a party of 7 ( 2 kids). we were told we'd have to wait (20 minutes) for the only big booth they had. we told the hostess we were ok with two booths close together if that came available first. after patiently waiting 30 minutes we asked if we could sit outside and pull two patio tables together since they were vacant(we are the only people waiting for a table). the hostess stared blankly and said "no it's not policy". we asked for the manager. the manager (wayne) was also rude and said that tables could not be pushed together. he then said he could do it this one time in a condensing voice. we left and got betterfoodand service at bad daddy burgers. the diamond needs to improve their customer service skills or they will meet the same fate as the penguin.

mediocre food, rude server. this place was recommended by a luxury hotel. they aren't recommending it anymore after what i told them about my experience.foodwas average, their famous chili dog had cheap toppings including canned chili (definitely not homemade like they claim). bbq sandwich had no flavor whatsoever, bun was soaked with grease from the pork and just fell apart. waiter rushed us and didn't even bother bringing us silverware. had to flag him down for everything and he decided to overcharge us on our bill as well! don't eat here, much better places in charlotte to eat!

worst restaurant experience in life. rude waitress from beginning til end. rude manager i might add. & forced to pay for meal and thefoodnever even got to the table. hands down worst customer service in charlotte.

i can actually deal with just about anything or anyone, tattooed idiots included, as long as thefoodis good. this was possibly the worst fried chicken i've ever had. sweet potato fries sucked as well. bojangles on a bad day has better chicken. if you want good chicken make a trip to zestos in west columbia sc. these guys could learn a few things from them. sincerely - a girl who knows good food!

first time was great!. excellentfoodand great service! we stopped in, last weekend, for the very first time and swore it wouldn't be our last. the fried catfish fillets were crunchy, were peppered perfectly, and the hushpuppies that accompanied them were fantastic. moved to charlotte 4 years ago and have finally found the best collard greens around. only downside were the french fries - too bland and didn't have great flavor.

give this spot a try if you haven't yet.

dinnerfoodwith a twist. i have to leave my diet at the door when i walk in because of two words, pig wings....so freaking good! one of the few places in town were my sons and i can find something we like on the menu. great jukebox selection!

just not good. when these guys ran the penguin it was great.
now therefoodis just not as good as it was. i have been in to eat 3 times and never left satisfied. if you want a long wait andfoodthat is just alright on a good day this is the place.

i love the diamond just one big gripe i have. i have been in here multiple times and love this joint! goodfoodat the diamond. the wait staff are always friendly and the atmosphere is cool. reminds me of a classic dinner with a new modern edge, but without the midwood hyperdermic needles.

thefoodis reasonable comparably speaking to the price. you will not get the best burger you have every had in your life here, but it will be might tasty enough to come back again.

the fried pickles, sweet potato fries, and hush puppies are always good choices for sides. if you get a burger, i recommend getting it southern style if you like your burgers slopy with chili, slaw, and all the fixings.

my one main gripe is the hamburger bun!!! come one diamond... why do you use the cheapest hamburger buns you can find! the buns always fall apart. they are the same white bread buns you find in the grocery store for $1-2 for 8-12 buns. i know probably are looking to cut some corners in cost, but get better hamburger buns.

other than that everything is great!

sadly, disappointed. gave it a try since the place has been "redone". iced tea watered down, mayo cole slaw had no mayo, in general,foodwas a real disappointment.

not good. ok so i recently ate here and was disappointed. i has high hopes based on how much i enjoyed the old penguin. the pickles were marginal at best. i am not sure what the other reviewers saw in them.foodcame out moderately warm. i liked the pig wings though as they were really good. however nothing else we ordered for our party of eight was worth remembering...
