went here after reading that the penguin was under new ownership! very friendly staff, low prices, and great food!! can't go wrong here!

good and bad. stopped by for an early dinner. good service and fast. wife got fried pork chops with greens and fruit. i got the lamb burger. both main dishes were good with relatively unimpressive sides. my lamb burger was good. moist and tasty. the pork chops were fine. the wife liked them more than me. but we'll seasoned and nice crunch. i like that it is located right across from legion so we might come back but otherwise it was kind of meh.

great 1st trip!. my wife and i ate here for the first time last week and it was sooo good. we had the gravy fries with pimento cheese, which was cheesy goodness. for dinner i had the beef tips and they were perfect with mash potatoes and hush puppies. great food, good service and we will be back soon to try the banana pudding:)

i've been coming here for years now, it's a nice place with good vibe.

we ordered the diamond boy, brian's ct dog, winky-dinky dog and hushpuppies. the ct dog and the hushpuppies were awesome! she didn't like the winky-dinky dog though. i thought i was a good chili dog but i couldn't taste much of the pimento cheese. the diamond boy, a pork and bacon patty, was just average doubt i'll order it again.

we had a good meal like we normally do from diamond.

i have been here a few times and they haven't been great experiences but not the worst. tonight was a total bad one probably the worst. i stopped by around 2:30 and went inside from the rain only to have the lady inside tell me they were closed when their business hours clearly say 3am. i really don't get why businesses post a specific closing time but don't honor their times. if you don't want people coming in then say what time you really intend to close like 2:30 not 3. it's super annoying because now i've already wasted 15 minutes of my life that i'll never get back because your business posts business hours of 3am and you decide that you aren't honoring those business hours. they also switched to a late night menu whereas before they used to have a full menu before. i'm not sure who is making alot of these changes here but someone needs to check themselves because this is not how you do business. i'm not sure if i'll ever return or recommend this business to anyone else because of these experiences either.

this is by far my favorite place to eat. the staff is great. always service with a smile (and a laugh). i love the small block with homemade chips and you always have to get a order of fried pickles.
it is worth the drive and wait (if there is one). i drive 30 minutes to get here and it is worth every minute. love this place!

been to this joint twice now, both times have been pretty much the same..... really good food and really bad service. the burgers are big and juicy, the fried pickles crispy and tart, just don't expect a friendly smile from your server.

i came in here with a group of friends still feeling it from drinking and had the fried pickles and single block. everything was incredible and the burger was not greasy. the group i went with comes here often after a night out and love it too.

great neighborhood eatery. great service, really good food in a nostalgic surrounding. great southern touch.

horrible service, rude manager, low quality food, and dirty. i've been several times and the food is not impressive. the customer service was very poor each time i've gone. if you have a party of 4 be prepared for horrible service from the manager and hostess. we went at 2pm on a sunday with a party of 7 ( 2 kids). we were told we'd have to wait (20 minutes) for the only big booth they had. we told the hostess we were ok with two booths close together if that came available first. after patiently waiting 30 minutes we asked if we could sit outside and pull two patio tables together since they were vacant(we are the only people waiting for a table). the hostess stared blankly and said "no it's not policy". we asked for the manager. the manager (wayne) was also rude and said that tables could not be pushed together. he then said he could do it this one time in a condensing voice. we left and got better food and service at bad daddy burgers. the diamond needs to improve their customer service skills or they will meet the same fate as the penguin.

mediocre food, rude server. this place was recommended by a luxury hotel. they aren't recommending it anymore after what i told them about my experience. food was average, their famous chili dog had cheap toppings including canned chili (definitely not homemade like they claim). bbq sandwich had no flavor whatsoever, bun was soaked with grease from the pork and just fell apart. waiter rushed us and didn't even bother bringing us silverware. had to flag him down for everything and he decided to overcharge us on our bill as well! don't eat here, much better places in charlotte to eat!

great experience!. my first time at diamond. being from ny, i've been in alot of dinners. this place had a cooler and more trendy than traditional dinner feel! great wait staff (melody)!!! super friendly, cool and nice, perfect timing for the whole meal! we had a regular and lamb burger. both had great flavor! wish they had a 1/2 lb option, its only 1/3 lb. for a bigger eater 1/2 would be perfect! fried okra was super good! fried pickles were good and the mac n' cheese was pritty good. really good flavor on their home made sweet tea! all in all, a great experience! definitely glad we stopped by and tried it out! we will be back!

this was my first time here. i got it to go. the guy that took my order was super nice and gave great service to those around me while i waited for my order. it was delicious! the sloop joe was massive and yummy. it wasn't as ketchupy as i remember them when i was a kid. the mac and cheese is great! it isn't "southern style" with lots of eggs and i like that. the side of fries was huge! the only downside was the fries weren't as cooked as i would have liked. i will def be back. the price to portion ratio is definitely a value!

worst restaurant experience in life. rude waitress from beginning til end. rude manager i might add. & forced to pay for meal and the food never even got to the table. hands down worst customer service in charlotte.

the diamond is one of the first restaurants i went to in charlotte, and i can’t stop going back. i’ve tried a ton of things on their menu, but a visit to the diamond is not complete without an order of their fried pickles. i don’t see how you can go wrong with two of my favorite things: pickles and deep frying. they are hot, crispy and have a tiny kick. served with a side of creamy ranch, they really can’t be beat. tons of people claim they are the best in charlotte!
