katzinger's delicatessen

the pickle palace ..... can anything be better than 'all you can eat' pickles? being a true lover of the infamous 1/2 sour pickle, i think nothing is better.

stopped at katzinger's on our way to indiana and decided to see how columbus builds a deli sandwich.

let me tell you i was not disappointed.

i loved the feel of the place from the moment i stepped in ... you snake your way around the perimeter of the store passing samples of delicious and unique bread and cheese. (maybe next time i'll bring a bottle of wine)

then it happens, you have to select a sandwich from the large list of creative combinations. as usual i request just the plain corned beef served warm with deli mustard on hard crusted rye. a side of creamy cole slaw and traditional potato salad ... can you say 'homerun'?

of course i had to select from the dessert offerings which included assorted brownies, cookies and cakes.
needless to say i enjoyed them all.

my advise - if you are driving to or thru columbus, stop @ katzinger's deli, you won't be sorry.

oh yeah, did i mention the pickles?

katzinger's is an old-school deli on steroids. many will say it doesn't compare favorably to new york favorites like stage, katz, or carnegie. i agree - hard to replicate that whole thing in columbus.

pickles for days!. this is a pretty awesome place in columbus' german village. i had lunch here and to my surprise, large barrels of pickles. unlimited. so many sandwich options it would take several months to eat them all. it can be pricey, but it's great for what it's worth. can't wait to go back.

love it. great sandwiches (if you can pick one), better salads and sides. free pickles if you like that sort of thing. theres also a little shop inside with lots of great food and ingredients, and they are usually giving out tasty samples. parking is sparse but the have a parking lot about a block west if you can find it.

good food, very pricey. so, so, so over priced. however ,i still go sometimes for a bill clinton special or rueben. however, for the money, the large sandwich is very small.

lovelovelove katzinger's. my favorite lunch spot in central ohio and the best damn sandwiches around. more than 70 different sandwiches to please people of all tastes. the redskin potato salad is too good to be true, and anytime they have the "peanut butter crumble" dessert, order it. trust me.

katzinger's has an amazing retail selection of meats, cheeses, breads and oils. i use katzinger's to cater all of my office meetings, and everyone is much fuller and happier for it.

love this place. huge sandwich selection. my favorite part is the whole pickle bucket. take as many as you like- they're free with your meal and super crunchy. i love the #11 turkey sandwich on challah with honey cup mustard. it's a tad spicy and a lot savory. the sandwich size options are "big" and "huge," and rightfully so. you won't go hungry eating here. i love the quirky atmosphere, too!

food is not overpriced. any seriuos food lover that is looking for a decent deli will find it here. everything is great! where else will you find real pickles, and for free?! this establishment is an important part of the columbus culinary scene and will be for years to come!

if the question was, "are delis and vegetarianism mutually exclusive?", i think i might know the answer and exactly where it's at. delis aren't your typical go to spot for vegetarian dining. katzinger's , however, located in german village , doesn't go th

overpriced. i agree with lee's review, the food is decent, but overpriced. the price of the small size of some of the specialty sandwiches is not worth it. it's definitely not the place to order something simple like a turkey sandwich...it will cost an arm and a leg.

good food, great atmosphere, but way overpriced. brown bag is just as good, and it's just down the street from katzingers. katzingers is great, but again too high for what you actually get.

today was a busy day in our restaurant week activities, as we ended up going to three (yes, three!) different places. the first of these was to an old standby, katzinger's . even though i've come here ever since i moved to columbus the first time around i
