kanha sweets in amritsar is small but very significant and a mustplacefor the food experience in amritsar . the puris are made in desi ghee and the chole are perfect .. the real surprise is the aloo subzi , which has unique flavour of sweet , tangy taste .. and what do i say on value for money .. it is very economical .. ofcourse the ambience is very basic .. but a must visit in amritsar ..

after hearing a lot about thisplacewe decided to have their famous puri sabji for breakfast. we ordered takeaway as theplacedid not have any proper seating. the quantity provided was much more than expected at the affordable price that they charge. the taste of whole was great but the sweet and salty aloo sabji was completely out of this world. a must try place.

kanha sweets is one of the many famous places in amritsar but the unique thing about theplaceis its gur halwa.

gur halwa is definitely one of the best sweets you will have in amritsar. prepared in desi ghee, the gur halwa is best suited for those who have a sweet tooth but are hesitant is consuming a lot of sugar.

the ambiance of theplaceis not really good but it's definitely worth a try.

visited thisplacefor puri chole. goodplacefor a quick bite. really liked the food. puri was served with tasty chole and potato curry. adding to the whole piece was glass of lassi with malai on the top.. overall good experience. we missed to grab halwa. heard halwa is pretty good at this place.

puri halwa - 5/5
thisplaceis my childhood love!!
i have memories with the food, with the place. “woh puri ki khushboo, launji aur choley aur woh thoda sa gur ka halwa” deadly punjabi breakfast combination. no match for their preparation of puri choley. please open an outlet in chandigarh too.

*an iconicplacein amritsar for desi ghee sweets & puri chola*

1. poori chola 😋
poori - as claimed by the shop, the whole wheat poori was fried in desi ghee and has distinct taste of ghee.
chola ( curry as accompaniment)- it has unique flavour with perfect balance of spices, was thick in gravy and not at all spicy.
aloo launji (curry as accompaniment) - it has distinct sweet and mild tangy taste with generous amount of methi seeds which doesn't give any bitterness to it.
pickle - mango, lemon and chilli pickle was served which taste like homemade pickles.
rating - 4/5

2. gud halwa 😋

it's made of semolina or suji and was overloaded with desi ghee or clarified butter. it had mild sweet, caramel taste of jaggery or gud

the bad part of this dish is they have added synthetic food colour and it's not purely made of jaggery. some part of refined sugar is also added.

rating - 3.5/5

*recommendations to the restaurants*

1. don't add artificial food colour to your dishes like gud halwa. they are unhealthy.

2. use only jaggery, don't add any sugar if you are selling your dish as gud halwa

3. use biodegradable disposable materials instead of plastic & styrofoam. coronavirus & climate change are happening due to these things. do your bit to save earth. you are a popular in amritsar. if you make the change, others will follow you.

4. keep healthy & vegan versions of your sweet which are made in date syrup, coconut/oats/almond/peanut milk

sometime ago i had tasted their poori chole(chickpea),lassi and gur ka halwa. they serve 2 large sized poori and unlimited chole made from desi ghee and a sweet tangy potato curry. the lassi was also up to the mark as it was chilled and consist of a thick layer of malai(cream). gur ka halwa was also very delicious it was loaded with dry fruit. they have a welll managed and a good sitting area inside. so overall a perfectplacefor having poori.
