bad day?. hate to do it but this is another "mediocre at best" review. i ordered the palace combo for $18 (yes! $18!) and got chicken, lamb and dubideh (ground beef) kabobs. i honestly didn't care for it. if the whole combo was $8 then the mistakes would have been a little more tolerable but the naan style bread 50% soft and 50% tortilla chip, the meat was overcooked and over-spiced. the lamb was very chewy. thericeand the side of peas and potato was pretty good. i don't mind the kiosk style atmosphere and the service on foam and paper plates but again, $18? my rating would be 2/5 for flavor and 1/5 for value. sorry folks, i eat out a lot and was truly disappointed as i love this type of cuisine and was hoping for a nice meal based on other reviews.

the absolute best restaurant in the d.c. area. to start with, i'm afraid that the three dollar signs at the top will scare some people away. they shouldn't. this isn't a three dollar sign restaurant. it's barely a two dollar sign restaurant. whoever is responsible for those dollar signs at the top needs to be sent to a siberian work camp, or maybe a nickleback concert.

you can eat here with a full meal for as low as less than 8 bucks, and probably you'll average around 10 dollars.

i moved to the d.c. area a few years ago for work, and i have been to this restaurant more times than any other. the food is awesome, the staff is very friendly, it has a mix of people of pretty much every race, religion, gender, etc.

the best stuff here is the sides -- thericeand chickpeas are both super-tasty. but the entrees that the sides accompany are great too. the fried fish is amazing, the shrimp karahi is a favorite and of course the kabobs are among the best you'll have.

and if you might think you're not open to this kind of food, but you have to try it first. it's amazing and just about everyone likes it. if you're a vegetarian, there's plenty for you. if you are a normal well-adjusted human being, there's even more.

i see there are people giving this place mediocre reviews. these are the same people who would sleep with shakira and give her a c-minus or complain that the burj khalifa is too short. in other words, they are stupid and should be ignored.

not that good. i don't know what all this hype in reviews of this place about? we had mixed grill combo # 12 with salad, riceand spinach, lavash, mango lassi and tea for a price of $30+. the food wasn't bad, but not as great as some reviewers describe on this site. the meats were tougher then they should be and definitely less flavorful then in food corner kabob house. definitely not worth the money spent.. the ambiance on another hand was really nice.

very good lamb kabobs!. stopped in with a thai friend to try the lamb and the ground sirloin kababs. the lab is some of the best i have had - perfected to the point that it is not too greasy and with the perfect mouth watering taste that brings folks back.
thericeis a bit different - soft and fluffy, it is not like have had at other places. it has a great nutty kind of taste to it. i really like the spinich here as well - and would recommend giving it a try as one of your side items instead of the chickpeas.
the afghan bread is also a great item - one that is different from most middle eastern or greek varities. it is large, round, soft and chewy - and some of the best you may have anywhere. it will perfectly compliment your meal and kabobs. i would definately stop in for just the bread alone -- but do not have to because the all the kabobs have tried were on a par of excellence that is the mark of a great little restaraunt.

try the lamb chop platter with no salad. good sized portion for your hunger. three thick and juicy lamb chops, heaping side dishes onricewith pita that is hot and crisp. dipping sauce tops it all off. worth getting every visit.

luck of the draw?. the kabobs i got on my only visit were mostly dry and tough. there was one surprisingly tender one in the batch. and i've heard that others have had amazing experiences so it may be worth the luck of the draw. regardless, the lentils andricethat came with it were *spectacular.* i'd go back just for that.

best kabobs in my life. theyre open 24 hours and the constant traffic of taxis cars outside ensures healthy business inside. the kabobs are succulent and tasty, and thericeis savory pillowy goodness.
