didn't even start. this evening was booked for a special birthday celebration and an outside table was requested online. the reservation was confirmed online. we arrived 15 minutes early and were told that our table would not be ready until the booked time, but we could wait at the outside bar, and unfortunately, no outside tables were open tonight. (sunny, 72 degrees)
after waiting outside for over a half an hour with servers passing us every few minutes we got tired of being ignored and informed the hostess that we couldn't wait any more and would be leaving. no apology, no explanation, just "ok". i don't see how this restaurant can succeed with this level of customer service. can't recommend risking a special evening here.

overpriced and not well executed. have tried this place 3 times now based on the pretty good reviews. we come to orlando about once per month and are always looking for good places to eat. here are a few of my thoughts on this place:

frog legs sounded good, but on all 3 trips we couldn't tell the buffalo ones from the scampi ones. they were tender and decent, but bland. we kept trying figuring they had given us 2 platters of the same ones by accident on the other visits. also, we had different people with us each time who wanted to try them.

most dishes come completely a la carte, so $30 plus for a piece of fish becomes $40 plus if you add a starch and a vegetable side. fish portions are pretty small, too - not worth it imo and i don't mind paying for a good meal.

last trip was the worst one, so we won't be back. waitress was pretty rude on several occasions.

i ordered grouper topped with jumbo lump crab meat and mushrooms. when i got it, i saw some strands of what looked like crab, but not one lump (and certainly no jumbo lumps). when the waitress asked if everything was ok, i said, "wasn't this supposed to have jumbo lump crab meat?" she put her finger within an eighth of an inch of my fish pointing and said, "it's right there". i said it wasn't jumbo lump crab, but whatever and just wanted her to go away after she almost touched my food. she said it must have cooked down and left.

15 minutes later, she stopped back with a shot glass sized container and said she told the manager i was disappointed and he sent this over. it as a piece of crab meat in a sauce. i had finished my meal already and just said thank you.

there were 5 of us and no one loved their meal. my wife's salmon was way overcooked and the others all had some issues. decent overall at best, but nothing to come back for and certainly not at those prices.

if you go, i hope you fare better. the sister restaurant, moonfish is much better imo.

food was ok ...nothing nearly worth the price that a more moderate restaurant won't do just the same. wait staff was excellent. manager came over after fish was not done all the way and brought another piece of fish. intent was there but second piece of fish still not cooked all the way. at that point i did not have the heart to send it back again. would not go back again given the price for ok steak and fish. also, waitress said portions for sides was enough for two+. asparagus side consisted of 4 pieces of asparagus ?

such a big disappointment! we have been living in the area for a while and always wondered about johnnie's. we walked in and the hostess, being very friendly, greeted us and suggested outside seating for the happy hour. so pumped when we saw the beautiful outside bar and dining, very nice ambiance. then the martinis came out followed by our food. the drinks were awful and the food was pretty unpleasant. we only did apps and after the awful martinis we got draft beers, $8 for sweetwater 420. we tried 4 items on the menu and each was was either burnt or disgusting. only thing decent was the shrimp which isn't hard because you just throw it on some ice. will not return. heading to moonfish to satisfy out hunger

tourist trap, beware - ordered the shrimp cocktail and the lump crab. lump crab never showed up. everybody at the table heard us order it. server forgot it, or didnt hear it, but everybody else did. ok, no big. shrimp was good. salmon entree was good. asparagus was super huge and tough though, i guess they only like to steam the $hit out of it and smother it in provolone? and hollandaise. awful quality. filet mignon 10 oz. was garbage. one of the worst quality cuts of beef you can find. a 5 dollar cut of beef sold for 30 bucks. tasted like a$$, we thought it was rancid, who knows. quality control issues for some products, other were ok. they either have a low quality kitchen staff or just buy cheap stuff and try to pass it off. maybe the staff doesn't know what they are doing, or maybe they just don't care like lots of places. sizzler two blocks down is a better choice as the product is what it is, and is not faked and tourist trapped to fleece you. cool ambiance, absolutely awful quality product,.. when all product is placed on the table at once. half the stuff being edible is not worth it. you have been warned!

waited for thirty minutes to get salad or bread. the salad was terrible with items from beets to potato salad. the bread was mediocre. entrees and sides were overpriced for the quality and quantity. the salmon entree had good flavor. hard to believe this is upscale. not worth the money.

.......................................first visit. johnnie's was picked because we wanted "good food" from an area restaurant--not a 'chain choice' option. we found a johnnie's hideaway coupon from our starwwod vistana resorts 'welcome to orlando' package. we were blessed! great food, atmosphere, service, and concern for their guests, chris was our waiter-knowledgeable of the flavors accented within each dish, courteous and efficient. moderately high prices and deserving of every cent.

horrendous. went on a monday for their all you can eat stone crab for $45. we called at least twice to confirm price and double checked with our server once we began to order. after our second round of stone crab we were told that they had run out of it. why would you let us order something you were running low on if it's supposed to be all you can eat!??? on top of having to leave with a close to empty stomach, when the check arrived they charged us almost $60 dollars per person for the all you can eat stone crab. the manager never came to our table as per our request to dispute the matter so we were only able to get the price down to $47 dollars. not worth it at all almost $300 later, the quality of the food was very low, as well as their drinks. the only good thing was their tiny portion of lobster bisque which accompanied the stone crab. they could have at least offered to let us order something different. what a shame.
