being identified as a food blogger probably didn't hurt the fact that we got exemplary service all night long. but i'd like to think that most people would get the same service at johnnie's hideaway. thesteakand stone crab claws were outstanding. this was truly a memorable meal.

worth the $ delicious food,.... worth the $
delicious food, especially the crab legs which are already split in half for you so there is no messy wrestling involved. hubby says filet was the beststeakhe ever had. quick, courteous service and great desserts. i won't lie-- it's on the high side price wise. but totally worth it.

prob the absolute worststeakand seafood i have ever eaten! the restaurant itself is nice but the food doesn't match. there was a party of 5 and pretty much everything was horrible well except the blue cheese stuffed olives in my martini and the cheesy bread they give u before ur meals. we spent $350 and all left hungry. the filets tasted like they were sitting in the freezer for a bit too long. the stone crab claws smelled like pure fish and had white mushy stuff inside them like they were frozen also. worst dining experience ever!!

overall a good restaurant to try, but i think i would only go back for the monday night all-you-can-eat stone crabs.

we started off with the stone crab bisque and clam chowder.  both were wonderful. i have never had so much clam in my soup, except for going to san francisco.

i had never tried stone crabs before, so we got those as well. they were delicious, especially with the mustard sauce provided.  i would use that mustard sauce for sandwiches and salads if they bottled it.

and if you are looking for a good drink, the smoked pineapple sunset is delicious!

for entrees my husband had the ribeye with blue crab truffle butter topping and i had the giant madagascar shrimp.  the butter sauce for the ribeye just made thesteakthat much better.  the shrimp were massive!  i have never seen shrimp that big.  the best part was dipping the shrimp in the sauce that came on the side, but i can't remember what it was.  i also got a loaded baked potato, big mistake.  it was massive, i barely made a dent in it.  our entrees also came with a salad, so we both got the wedge salad.  it is just too big as well.  i would get the house salad or caesar next time.

now as far as atmosphere goes, when the entrees arrived is when i started to feel my adult meltdown coming on.  we had been seated in a lovely room, but as the night went on 4 8+ parties were seated in our area.  the noise was unbearable and the pace of the meal considerably slowed down.  we couldn't hear our waiter or each other talking it was so loud.

when we first were seated the manager came over to say hello and we got to talking and told him we were here on our honeymoon.  he insisted we save room for dessert on him.  so when it came time for dessert i went with my favorite, creme brulee, and my husband went with the key lime pie, even though i was getting antsy to leave from the noise and length of time.  the creme brulee is made table side with a liquor caught on fire to make the crust. my husband went with the margarita version of the key lime pie, basically some liquor is poured over top the pie.  i am pretty sure my husband was drunk after his pie.  went they brought the pie it came with the shot of liquor, that poked holes in the pie and poured the liquor on.  our waiter then asked him to wait a minute and he would be back.  he came back with another shot of liquor and poured it on top too.  it was just sitting in a pool of booze.   i have to say the creme brulee was horrible.  the liquor was not completely cooked off from the brulee part and my first bit was a big shot of booze.  for some this may be great, but i am not a big drinker so this was too much for me.  once i scraped off the booze puddles and just tried the custard it was just as bad.  i had my husband take a taste and he actually thought it may just be plain butter in the ramekin, not vanilla custard.  it had absolutely no taste to it.

by this point we are almost to 3 hours for dinner and i'm about to lose it from the noise so i hand our waiter my card so we can get the heck out of there.  big mistake!  i didn't notice until we left that we were charged for our desserts that were supposed to be on the house.  but in the grand scheme of how much we spent here it wasn't worth me going back to have it fixed, especially when we had already left.

despite the dining experience going bad towards the end i would definitely try here again in the future.  probably not a friday night though, and i would skip dessert.

this place is amazing. forgive me, but we don't many places like this in oklahoma (that aren't 5-star). i was in orlando for a company convention, so this ended up being quite a treat. was the wait long? about an hour. was it expensive? yes. (note: even for 15-people, average dinner per person was around $75) was it all worth it? i'd be back in a heartbeat. i'd even love to open one here in oklahoma if i was able to. food was fantastic, from drinks to appetizers -to main course. we started off with (3) johnnie's classic platter, loaded with stone crab, shrimp cocktail, alaskan king crab and alaskan crusher claws. a few orders of crispy florida gator. it was fantastic. while i love being in beef country, i sure do miss the gulf delicacies. my meal ended with the 22oz bone-in rib eye. they cook their steaks at 1400 degrees, about 3 minutes per side to get a medium rare finish, with a lightly charred outer crust. i could have cut mysteakwith my fork alone and each bite totally melted in my mouth. (i can almost taste it now). the wait staff was extremely attentive. i'm sure if the big-wigs weren't with us, we would have been "over-served" on drinks. oh yes....cocktails, wine and beer selection were almost endless. i will be back the next time i see a johnnie's hideaway.

disappointed. we went for a adult family dinner. service, though gracious, was s l o w!!!! very, very slow. we started at the bar while waiting for our table, it took at least between 5-10 minutes before a bartender even acknowledged us. when we got to our table, we ordered our food and started chatting. we finished our drinks and water, no waiter, no salads, no anything. this is how the evening dragged on. thesteakwas ok, but not worth the price. the shrimp was overlooked. the garlic mashed potatoes were the best flavor on the table, but were only just warm, not hot. we ordered coffee, got the cups, but had to wait 10 minutes for the coffee to arrive. i have had better food and service for way less money. not worth your hard earned money.

food was ok ...nothing nearly worth the price that a more moderate restaurant won't do just the same. wait staff was excellent. manager came over after fish was not done all the way and brought another piece of fish. intent was there but second piece of fish still not cooked all the way. at that point i did not have the heart to send it back again. would not go back again given the price for oksteakand fish. also, waitress said portions for sides was enough for two+. asparagus side consisted of 4 pieces of asparagus ?

a little unsure about johnnie's. we ordered the medium stone crab claws, calamari, the pounded veal chop, a 10 oz filet and 2 children's meals. while our service was very good, i found it to be a little pretentious at times. my veal chop was fatty, but tasty and a unique way to serve veal parm. there was too much sauce and cheese on the chop and it was served with no sides. our calamari was delicious, as was the crab. thesteakwas the smallest one on the menu, which at 10 oz is enoughsteakfor anyone. it was very good as well. the best thing on the menu, as well as the tastiest, was my son's hamburger. i twas huge and handmade. they could have charged me $15 for it and i would have gladly paid for it. not sure anything in orlando from any restaurant group or chain impressed me to the point of wanting to return. next time i am in orlando, i will be using urbanspoon to find the great spots.

just awful!!. my husband visited johnnies 10 months earlier and we were delighted by the food and service, so when we returned to orlando we eagerly headed back expecting a repeat of our last visit. we were sorely disappointed... i ordered a $32 lobster dish that was dried out disgusting lobster tails that were borderline bad, my husband ordered a 20 ouncesteakthat was over 50% fat... horrible quality! our creamed spinach was dry as a bone with shaker parmesan cheese instead of real cheese... overall disgusting. you can get better food and service from a ruby tuesdays... don't waste your money!!
