good/fair. i used to eat here all the time as a kid..don`t know if the divorce or the move changed the restaurant.
the service is horrible, not friendly anymore..the food isgoodbut not like it used to be when it was on treadway.
go back to the other way, no servers, they are rude.
i liked the concept of ordering then finding the table.
by the way, i like the brighter side were they are serving and i can`t sit over there because it is the full service side.
get rid of the servers joe!!!!
make the restaurant, the way you had it on treadway!!!

good. i like it! was 10 times better at the old place as far as service and atmosphere!! service sucks, they are rude and blah!! sharon the ex, took all the happy people to her restaurants!
full service side is no good. service is horrible.
if your going go eat here, order and serve yourself like they used too. food isgoodthough .serve yourself and leave happy and full!

not impressed. oysters came in little specimen cups instead of on the half shell. looked disgusting. waited forever to be seated. if you want reallygoodbbq go to sharon's bbq--best i've had in a long time. by far.

rib - salty rub.  good flavor in this meat.  well rendered... done to the point of falling off the bone.  this is a very tasty rib! sausage - firm texture, with a strong black pepper kick. very good. other fare: beans - standard pintos. late afternoon... they are a little soft, but not quite mushy. potato salad - creamy with egg. slaw - crisp and crunchy. good. cornbread - not sweet.  green chile or jalapeno. it is good, although i got to it

good bar-b-q,goodsauce. we tried joe allen's on a friend's recommendation and i'm glad. they offeredgoodbar-b-q andgoodsauce. we got a variety of the appetizers; all wasgoodbut the onion rings were especially good. we also had some of the jalapeno cheese sausage. i was really impressed! it had a nice bite to it and plenty of cheese.

i had the smoked turkey. it was a tad dry, but somewhat to be expected with turkey. a friend had the chicken thy plate. they were incredibly juicy and tender! i really liked the sauce. it had a southwest flair to it, with a sense of chili powder plus a little kick, but not too hot.

meh, wasn't worth the time. too many othergoodbbq restaurants in abilene. maybe they lost something in the move?

i go for the bread. i've been 3 times now -- twice for lunch and once for dinner. lunch was definitely the better meal. we noticed that the bread wasn't warm and soft like it is early on -- and the bread is definitely worth going for. carb-lovers will appreciate the soft, sweet corn breads, and the melt-in-your-mouth yumminess of their sourdough bread. the bbq has been prettygood-- i'd say the weak link is their brisket and accompanying bbq sauce. the meat is too dry but the sauce will make you choke because it has some sort of alcohol base (whiskey?) that won't make you tipsy, just nauseous. the best meat on the menu is their jalapeno sausage. :) i can feel my thighs expanding with every bite but it's great!

store design weird, ribeye good. still love the joe allen's ribeye but for the price i'm paying i don't like eating out of styrofoam bowls. i might as well get it to go so i can save the tip. service is usuallygoodfor me, but the design of the restaurant is strange. where do you order ? is it table service or counter service ? i agree things were better on treadaway and before the divorce.

a regular stop. i like the ribeye or the chicken...goodflavor to the meat andgoodatmosphere - usuallygoodservice too.

go for a steak.... everybody i know always touted joe's as the best bbq in town or close to it...but too many other places are better for me (harold's, sharon's, the shed, betty rose's)...yet joe can still cook a prettygoodsteak.
if you don't want to drive to buffalo gap or albany for a steak, head over to joe's.
