not impressed. oysters came in little specimen cups instead of on the half shell. looked disgusting. waited forever to be seated. if you want really goodbbqgo to sharon's bbq--best i've had in a long time. by far.

slooow lunch service. 1st time have eaten there. was not told the difference between the sides of the dining room, so our group sat on the table service side. there were not that many customers and took nearly forever to get food. why doesn't every table havebbqsauce and at least every other table have ketchup? we were late back to our meeting because of how long it took to get served and checked out. food was ok, nothing special.

meh, wasn't worth the time. too many other goodbbqrestaurants in abilene. maybe they lost something in the move?

i go for the bread. i've been 3 times now -- twice for lunch and once for dinner. lunch was definitely the better meal. we noticed that the bread wasn't warm and soft like it is early on -- and the bread is definitely worth going for. carb-lovers will appreciate the soft, sweet corn breads, and the melt-in-your-mouth yumminess of their sourdough bread. thebbqhas been pretty good -- i'd say the weak link is their brisket and accompanyingbbqsauce. the meat is too dry but the sauce will make you choke because it has some sort of alcohol base (whiskey?) that won't make you tipsy, just nauseous. the best meat on the menu is their jalapeno sausage. :) i can feel my thighs expanding with every bite but it's great!

great steaks andbbq... casual relaxed atmospere. don't miss the bar with photos of joe's horse, peppers pride.

go for a steak.... everybody i know always touted joe's as the bestbbqin town or close to it...but too many other places are better for me (harold's, sharon's, the shed, betty rose's)...yet joe can still cook a pretty good steak.
if you don't want to drive to buffalo gap or albany for a steak, head over to joe's.
