quality has slipped. used to be one of my all-time favorites (i'm a local), but the last meal was very disappointing. everything way too salty and the fish was dripping in grease. still some of the best greens however.

do not pass it by!. sure there may be a line outside this intimate place, but well worth the wait. friendly staff, big portions, more variety of salt and pepper shakers than at a store. coca-cola cake! their bakery is right around the corner. basic charleston cooking...timeless!

if your a visitor a must to capture the old south charm. get there around 11:30am and you will not have much of a wait.

average tea, humdrum fried chicken, decent, if not forgettable meatloaf. not worth the 30 minute wait. save time and money and skip to desert at the bakery a few doors down.

a staple of charleston, i go here every time i'm in town! it's worth waiting in line for. sweet tea, mac and cheese, and don't miss out on the cobblers!

you must eat here!. if you like fried chicken then you simply must go to jestine's. there is always a line, but well worth the wait (even in the hot sun). their side dishes are also fantastic. i never have room for dessert though. maybe next time!

same. being from the south, nothing tasted as good as what i can already cook myself. i should have known to go somewhere else when the three out of four people we talked to waiting in line were from new york. the staff was really nice and everything ran smoothly, but i can get better food at home.

when we arrived we had to wait upwards of 30 min to get seated outside in the heat. me and my wife were not thrilled with our food even though our order came out fast. my wife ordered the cat fish with cabbage and mac and cheese, i ordered the shrimp with red rice and okra, and by far the worst fried green tomatoes we have tasted. dessert menus not very delectible. great prices though for the location.

this restaurant received rave reviews, however, i was a bit disappointed. the service was wonderful, but the food was definitely lacking soul.
