tired of calorie-laden, heavy meals, our party of six adults decided to go to jason's deli for a change of pace. this location sits on a corner within striking distance of costco on a busy intersection of 1604. parking is limited and a bit strange as it angles around the shopping center. we parked and went inside to order at the counter.
jason's prides itself on fresh organic ingredients, non-gmo and local when possible. they offer low cal, vegan, organic, meatless and gluten free items--the menu is quite large and filled with interesting salads, soups, wraps, paninis and sandwiches. chili, muffulettas, chicken nuggets and desserts are also included. we tried a trip to the large salad bar, the nutty mixed up salad, a cup of organic veggie soup, an amy's turkey-o sandwich with pepper jack cheese and avocado on an onion roll, chicken pot pie soup and a quarter turkey muffuletta. once you order at the counter you're given a number and drink cups to fill at the serve yourself soda and tea bar.
all the food we tried was very good if not excellent; the salad full of nuts, cheese, dried cranberries and leafy greens; the sandwiches stuffed with meat and toppings; the soups mild but hot. even the tea and sodas seemed to be a cut above the usual serve yourself restaurant.
the space is clean and airy with some outside seating. prices are higher than subway but in line with other more organic places like panera bread. total for three entrees with soup or salad and a regular drink was $28.84 no tip required.
