consistently impressive. it had been a fewyearssince i had been to jam's and a return trip was long overdue. the menu offers a nice mix of lighter plates and more substantial fare, with the dishes i've tried ranging from good to excellent. most recently i had the steak frites--a marinated flat iron steak that was cooked perfectly (for me, a nice sear and pink throughout) and sliced thin. i didn't particularly like the aioli it came with, but this was still a nicely seasoned, delicious plate of food. my wife was even more pleased with her chicken and vegetable risotto. the chicken was juicy, the risotto creamy, and the parmesan really stood out.
a full bar occupies one side of jam's long, thin space, with a mural running the length of the opposite wall. every time i've eaten here the place has been full (reservations recommended, though the wait hasn't been too terrible without them), serving both casual and more dressed up diners. there is a nice energy here, a good social vibe, and a relaxed feel.
service has always been fine (occasionally a bit slow given the crowds) and prices are fair.
