this restaurant is a bit hard to discover as it's entrance is a bit hidden and it's location is not really somewhere you normally would go to when sightseeing in sta rosa / nuvali. however, this is agoodfind and serves authentic japanese cuisine! the number of japanese people eating here is a testament to that.

we have eaten here several times and we really like the quality of their food, particularly their sushi and maki rolls which taste fresh. we also recently ordered a chanko nabe hotpot, and it had a really large serving size and fresh ingredients too! it was a bit expensive though it is easilygoodfor 4 people. their price are on the fair side, bordering a bit on expensive for some dishes.

the place is big and they have the special rooms which give more japanese vibe. however, some of the chairs and decor seem old, as there are sometimes bad smell coming from them. hopefully they can take better care of it in the future. servers are efficient but do seem like they are always in a rush.

overall, i recommend this place for quality japanese food!

the ramen and gyoza set is a great deal and very filling. tasted so far 2 kinds of ramen (kantonmen and nagasaki) and they were both very good. light firm noodles and delicious broth.goodto the last drop. their tempura is light and crunchy. will definitely be going back to try their other dishes.

one of the best in japanese experience andgoodfood in the south! they will serve you in very hospitable way, from free appetizers and cold tea, serving your meal, and hot coffee before going out from the restau. the dishes are rich in flavor and full of ingredients, especially their ramen.

this resto also have an area where you can eat like in japan, just be sure to have a reservation first :) definitely worth trying!

ate here with my partner on a cold weather. i ordered shio butter ramen while my partner chashu ramen. my partner loves it. we also ordered mix fry and it was a blast! ambience was sogoodand all waiters are attentive. i liked their coffee jelly. 😍😊

tendon and nagasaki champon weregoodbut california maki was just ordinary for me. also when we went there, 50% of the customers were japanese. a must try when in calamba, laguna.

pretty decent japanese resto.

you know it'sgoodwhen you see japanese people eat here all the time. and i mean all the time. the resto is always packed with japanese people even if this isn't the only japanese resto in the area.

it's affordable too for its quality. the servers are nice and attentive. if ever you pass by the south, it's worth a try 😊

my husband brought me here one time, he said he likes going here for a quick jap fix, the menu is extensive and the price is very affordable, the service isn’t verygoodthough but pwede na, the food we ordered were all satisfying naman for the price

agoodplace to go to if you want a slightly cheaper and bigger servings japanese cuisine. food comes to you fast. every lunch time a lot of japanese and korean workers go here as well as a handful of filipinos so this places gets nearly full quickly. the food taste is great and the servings are big.

was curious about this place since i saw it hasgoodreviews in google when i searched for places to eat in laguna.
always a jap foodie and this is really a great japanese resto! you can feel that you're in japan bec of all the japanese businessmen eating there. just took time before the servers attended to our table because the place was full.

since it was getting dark, me and my friends decided to get dinner in this place and decided to make this our last stop. heard that this is one of the go-to restos of japanese people in santa rosa so we decided to check this place out.

the resto is situated in the second floor and it was a bit difficult to find. when we got inside it felt very old, perhaps because of the dim lighting. the space was huge though and the tiny details really scream japan.

we got a few items in their menu but below are my highlights.
> ebi tempura - not bad but wasn’tgoodeither. i guess i wanted bigger shrimps in there. but the dip wasgoodthough.
> tori karaage - cooked just right. crispy and light. loved this one.
> katsu curry - dry pork but really great cripy coating. the curry? really good! i feel like i could eat it over and over again.
> mochi ice cream - man, super duper good. it’s ice matcha ice cream wrapped in glutinous rice sonit become mochi. i can seriouly eat this over and over again.

katsu curry - i always come back for this! very rich!
salmon sashimi - delicious, fresh, melts in the mouth

don’t expect a high end restaurant, just enjoy the food!

[2018-11-20] ippon yari is the sixth restaurant of a six restaurant food crawl of tagaytay and sta. rosa. by this time, we have gone and eaten at 5 other restaurants so ippon yari is a bit disadvantaged. it is normally more difficult to please people who are not hungry compared to those who are. food served – i hope serving food on succeeding food crawls/meetups be done similar to this. there is a set of food/drinks used for photos and there is a ‘sampler set’ served to each participant that includes all food (and drinks if multiple types/variants) in small size enough to have agoodtaste. this enables all participants to have a taste of all food/drinks served and eat it while still hot/peak of goodness/freshness

nice quiet place. service wasgoodas the attendants were always quick to respond. we ordered shio ramen, appropriate for the rainy weather outside. the taste was ok but a bit too oily for my taste. the spicy salmon sashimi was the winner, with a well balanced mix of crunchiness and the wonderful texture of the salmon. will definitely come back again if i’m near the area.
