been twice, loved it. went on a tuesday night at 6pm the first time. it was packed but the turnover was reasonably fast and worth the wait. i was told i could get a first available table (not specified inside or outside) in 35 minutes. met a friend at the bar and a brilliant brunette bartender made some fabulous lemon drop martinis.
we ended up with an outdoor table and ordered the fried calamari. it is rarely my first pick, but the dish was done to perfection. crispy, light, flavorful without the rubbery texture. i would order it again in a heartbeat. we moved on to the w8th st pie. hand-tossed crust with a really kicky pepperoni and sausage toppings. reminded me of homemade pizzas dad used to make.
the next visit was on a thursday night at 8:30pm. we dined inside, and as a result of the hardwood, boisterous crowd, high ceilings and the cement, it was loud. but we had the same view and it was still agoodexperience.
we each had a full caesar salad (the full is a nice size without being too large, the half is truly a side dish portion), and shared a w 8th st pie (asgoodas the first time that i had it), and the house burger. the house burger is not to be missed. it was possibly the best burger i have ever had. juicy, perfectly done, fresh toppings, tall, cheesy, bacon-y goodness. i wasn't crazy about the fries, but that didn't stop me from picking at them as we chatted.
just go knowing that you will wait and plan to enjoy the wait, and get a table outside if weather permits.
