still some growing to do. i love the atmosphere and ambiance of this restaurant! i have tried it twice now - most recently this past saturday. yes it was crowded and yes there was a wait. i have come to expect it so its no problem. it is a reasonably priced gastropub that has a fantastic view! service was outstanding and very efficient.
the one thing that i didn't expect was to be disappointed by the food. let me clarify. i loved the appetizers (calamari, olives, fried pickles etc). you really can't go wrong with any one of them. they are all delicious and with your choice of cocktail, you won't be disappointed. the entrees are a bit different. it is almost like they have two different chefs in the kitchen - one for appetizers and one for entrees. i have tried the wood fired pizza and the braised short rib grilled cheese. my partner had the burger (same item as our first visit). like our first visit, the entrees lacked a lot of seasoning - even salt and pepper. the braised short rib grillcheeseon the menu denotes (for anyone who has ever braised anything) a flavorful combination ofcheeseand tasty short rib meat. the texture of the meat was fine (shredded) but it had no seasoning so it was like shredded meat inside a grilled cheese. just no flavor at all. if we had not been with another couple, i probably would have sent it back.
my partner and i are determined to give it another shot because we like to support local businesses. however, if the entrees are still lacking flavor, we will send it back so ownership knows that there needs to be an adjustment. i mean, if you don't send it back, how do they know what to do differently?
