hunan manor chinese restaurant

we have loved humanmanorfor many years, the food has always been delicious and the staff friendly. however, since the recent change in ownership it seems some of the dishes aren't quite the same. the noodles are terrible- and they used to be the one of the best things on the buffet! also, the egg rolls and chicken wings are different and not quite as good. the staff was still pleasant but we are disappointed that the food, while still good, isn't as great as it used to be. bring back the old recipes!
10/29/17 updating my review. it’s gotten even worse. we will not be coming back. the new ownership is clearly trying to cut costs - plastic plates now?! and the food is mediocre at best. so sad as this used to be great.

hunanmanoris what you would expect from your typical americanized chinese joint, but it seems to be more consistantly good than most in town and the staff is always very polite and attentive. the dumplings this time were surprisingly good, do i detect some anise?

portions are humongous.

we have been eating at hunanmanorsince they were on college. they always had the best food around. we've stayed loyal and eat at their new location even though it's all the way across town. we always order house special chicken and cashew chicken. we ordered yesterday and pulled through for pick up, as usual. we got home and the two of us eating house chicken looked at each other and said, "this isn't good like it used to be."  the other person eating cashew chicken said, "this is terrible! i can't eat it." one of us tried the cashew chicken later thinking it just needed to be doctored up a bit. it was absolutely horrible! we will never eat at hunanmanoragain. don't waste your money! at $25 for three takeout dishes, you might as well flush your money down the toilet.

quality has gone down hill. i've been going to hunanmanorfor years. it used to be my favorite restaurant. my last couple visits the food has not been up to par. i'm going to find myself another chinese restaurant to go to. helen (owner), get it together!!!

great!. i visited hunanmanorfor the first time recently and i will absolutely be gong back again. our server was very helpful and cheerful and the food was hot and delicious. highly recommend

best in town. hunanmanorhas the best chinese food in fayetteville. the food is always very fresh and piping hot.

justme. hunanmanoris listed in the paper and on line as the best! we ate at hunanmanorand didn't like it. i had the kung pow shrimp, it was so sickening sweet that i couldn't eat it. i have eaten in many chinese establishments in the usa and to say the least, this was the worse kung pow i have ever tasted. we will not be returning.

miniscule proportions. i got take-out from here today.

i ordered the chef's special crispy fragrant shrimp. the box came with 6, i repeat, 6 pieces of shrimp in a bath of sauce. this in no way reflects the 12$ price tag. these kinds of portions are unacceptable. every other chinese take out in town packs the box with shrimp, while the hunanmanorfeels like it has to cheat its customers out of $$$.

i will never eat here again.

yup. unimpressive buffet.

not too vegetarian/vegan friendly. i love hunanmanornormally, but i started trying to eat more veggies and less meat and it was hard to do so at hunan. specifically, the lunch menu had a mixed vegetables meal listed but it came with a pork egg roll and, after asking to even pay more for a spring roll (or something with only veggies), hunan said no, because they "already had the egg rolls made up." why, as a business, you wouldn't take more money to make something that probably costs you less money to make is beyond me. furthermore, the reason they gave doesn't make any sense, because during lunch time, they probably have both egg rolls and spring rolls already made or ready to make for customers who order them. very bad business choice, in my mind, if you're wanting to reach out to vegetarians, vegans, or those just trying to make somewhat healthier choices. i won't be going back for a healthier chinese lunch anytime soon... i'm sure plenty of other chinese/thai restaurants will be willing to make that substitution for free.

in addition, the customer service wasn't great and i've had better asian vegetarian cuisine elsewhere.

keeps getting better!. i don't know how they do it but the food just keeps getting better. i guess by now i crave it so much! wonderful menu and staff. food a+

the best period. hunanmanoris the best chinese food in nwa - period! must trys are house special chicken and the bacon with cabbage. service is superb and the food is outstanding. make it a game day destination!

missing this place so badly!. i first ate at hunanmanorsomething like 15 years ago (at the college ave. location) and it remained a favorite until i moved to houston one year ago. the last dinner out that my wife and i had in fayetteville before moving was there. our absolute favorite item on the menu was spicy tangy wontons. apparently no one in texas knows how to make them. i miss the restaurant, the always-friendly wait staff, and those incredibly savory spicy tangy wontons!

lack luster for sure. saying that hunanmanoris the best chinese food in fayetteville isn't saying much, considering there is no good chinese food in fayetteville. it's a tolerable restaurant, but it's not something i would consider "good." i have tried many things on the menu in hopes that i would finally find something tasty, but so far i have failed. if you want chinese food, drive over to mission and crossover and go eat at that one. it's better, but still not amazing.

odd taste. i don't know if this is just me, but everything i've ever had at hunanmanortastes like...sanitizer solution. or something weird and chemically. that seems to pale out all the other flavors in all the dishes i've tried there. it also makes everything taste the same to me, which is sweet, salty, and - of course - chemically. i'm not sure what it is that makes everything taste that way, but it definitely keeps me from wanting to go there.

great alternative to the "mega bufftet". fresh, friendly, fast, hunanmanoris great for lunch or dinner. must try the hot crispy beef, house special chicken, lemon chicken.

gotta love it. i have been eating at hunanmanorsince well before they switched locations, and i love it. i can't say it is the best chinese food i've ever had, but it is definitely my favorite in the area. there are some specific dishes i enjoy more than most, however: the spicy tangy won ton appetizer is the one thing i always get...i've never found anything like it anywhere else. i enjoy their general tso's chicken and their egg foo yung, but my favorite is probably the crispy beef...thin slivers of beef fried up in a light batter till pleasantly crispy. it is delicious.

i hope you give hunanmanora shot...they serve great food and the owners are some very genuinely nice people who try to make everyone's experience a happy one.
