this place is definitly popular, whilst waiting inlineit's hard not to be tempted by their baked goods. we tried the mixed berry crumble tart which was very good. the burrito was a filling and tasty option, whilst the veggie chopped salad was a lighter option though i did find it to be slightly bland. don't go past the homemade house chocolate, delicious. i'd probably be back for more of their pastries and a coffee

saw this restaurant on food network and was excited to try it... longlinemoved fast, ordered sandwich offered with arugula, pesto, roasted pepper and goat cheese.. not bad. better if offered with chicken. service was mediocre at best. had poor selection of pasties unlike what was shown on episode.. expensive lunch at $30.75 including pastries for later.. gave cashier $41.00 and a math lesson and still handed me back the $1 ...and then $9 more. pastries were nothing to write home about... owners have something good here but i would bet profit is down. won't be back

a good spot for casual dining, light meals, and people watching, this bakery-cafe is well known for its delicious breads and pastries--muffins, valrhona chocolate-stuffed croissants, cinnamon rolls, cakes, pies.  breakfast offerings include green eggs and ham, maple bacon biscuits, and duck hash; unfortunately it is only served until 11 a.m.  but lunchtime sandwiches can bring a smile to your face, too.  my favorite is the marinated red pepper-burrata mozzarella-prosciutto with basil dressing on a baguette, but next time i plan to try the housemade brisket on ciabatta.  a large selection of salads are available as sides (i loved the roasted baby carrots with avocado, cumin seeds, and lemon juice).  from among the dazzling array of desserts, i chose well--an exquisite salted-caramel square.  counter service is fast and friendly but requires that you get inlineand crane your neck to st

skip it. first the pros: easy parking, great donuts, and good coffee.
now the cons: lettuce on breakfast sandwich? that's not creative, it's stupid. limited weekend menu, overpriced. you have to stand in line. hipster-dufus staff too-cool-to-help. breakfast sandwich eggs were under-cooked. bacon was over-cooked.
conclusion: skip it. unless you like to stand inlinefor overpriced, under/over cooked stupid food served from aspiring actors.

long lines, overpriced. waited 15-20 inlineto order. ordering system is bizarre. people who were waiting for a table and those ordering items-to-go shared the same line. there was anotherlinefor drinks which was really weird. the place is quite packed. service was decent.

food was ok.

- the green eggs & ham with la quercia prosciutto/ pesto & arugula on english muffin was good but not exceptional
- the tuna salad sandwich/ with tomato, arugula & aioli on multigrain bread was quite delicious. the multigrain bread is fantastic and the tuna was good too but i've never had a bad tuna sandwich before. i didn't end up finishing my sandwich so i took it home to eat for lunch the next day. to my surprise, the sandwich tasted just as good as the day before
- their hot chocolate is pre-made. you can tell the use high-quality cocoa powder, but it isn't the type of hot chocolate i would usually drink
- they also sell an assortment of pastries. we had the cranberry corn cake which was quite good

this place is really overpriced for what it is. i don't think i would mind coming back eating their sandwich and giving it a second shot but my boyfriend was really disappointed overall and refuses to come back

overall, huckleberry isn't that great. but that is made up for by he amazing pastries. no matter what time of day you go, there is alinestretching towards the back door. it is loud and busteling, far from a relaxed setting. the food food is mediocre, trying too hard to be gourmet and thereb compromising taste. not to mention the pretty penny you have to pay. but, it's redeeming features nearly make up for all of it's flaws. the pastries are amazing. i mean amazing. wow. and the fresh squeezed orange juice ad lattes are the beat i've ever had. all in all it's worth a stop, although it is imperfect.

wonderful food, service needs work. lovely contemporary restaurant with a great feel. exactly what i would open if i could. the baked goods and overall quality is unsurpassed which is why there is an almost constant line. however even though the quality is quite high and thelineis long to order (and that's fine) the process after you've pay needs work. i've ordered hot food and just pastries and even just pastries to go. as soon as you order, before you even pay someone facilitates your order and puts it on a plate or box if it's a pastry. but then it takes forever to get it in your hands even if its take out. really the qualty and choices make my eyes roll back into their sockets they're so wonderful but they need to improve on their system. those who say the service is a bit bitchy aren't wrong either. when i pointed out that my pastries were right there and had been for quite awhile she wasn't so nice about retriving them for me. i still love huckleberry but would like improved service.

you wait inlinefor 5-10 minutes along the pastry case to place your order, staring at all the pastries. how can you not buy pastries? staring at these: and these: i came in for brunch. i came out stuffed, carrying leftovers and a box of pastries to go.

sadly dissappointed. i went in to huckleberry because i needed a new great good food place for lunch, and a friend nearby mentioned the place just opened. like the rose cafe, you stand inlinewhile listening to others' annoying phone calls on their cell. the woman next to me inlinewas so loud i had to put my finger in my ear. the owners should enforce a no cell phone policy, because it's already so loud in there you have to shout your order to the server across the counter. the breads and croissants look divine, but i was there for some comfort food. i ordered the chicken pot pie. it had no resemblance to this wonderful, traditional dish. first, there was no pie. there was a very sweet biscuit (too sweet) sitting atop a pile of chick peas (ceci beans), literally an entire can. they were not cooked long enough to integrate with the very soupy gravy. the peas were way overcooked. the few pieces of carrots were okay. but the chicken, oh where was the chicken? there was about 3 tablespoons of small pieces of chicken. it was completely lame. my husband makes ceci over pasta with cauliflower for me once a week and adds in some cumin along with garlic and other spices. this pot pie had more ceci than i would ever be interested in even though i love them. don't call this a chicken pot pie if you're going to have it on the menu. i threw it in the dumster, it was terrible.

great!. i love this place. i mean, love it! yes, it's a bit crowded, but isn't that what happens when the food is terrific. and they've only been open for a few days so they're working out some kinks probably. but not where the food is concerned. this has to be one of the best, if not the best, bakery in la. i bought a loaf of their bread and it's as close to perfect as you can get. i had a meatball sandwich on the fresh ciabatta, mmmm... the berry tart was perfect and the donuts, only available in the mornings, are quite simply the best donuts i've ever had in my life. i had the cinnamon sugar donut.

i went back this morning and had the green eggs and ham (fantastic prosciutto). i didn't want to go to work, just wanted to stay have have another order. someone mentioned the prices. yes, you can go to koo koo roo, but then you'd be in koo koo roo. that's like saying a great hotel is overpriced because you can get a room at motel 6 cheaper. you get what you pay for here. and i was glad to pay. my only fear is that i will be waiting on a longlinenext time. will i do it? absolutely. i can't wait.
