this place has a very nice ambience, would be great on a date night. thefoodarrived quite fast, we ordered popcorn chicken and noodles. the fish noodles were great, was very fresh, and didn’t have the “fishy” taste. the popcorn chicken had a nice texture, but was quite spicy, even at the moderate spice level.

man i had such high expectations coming here. but alas i was disappointed with most of thefoodthat came out.


service was decent, but he kept going missing for long periods of time. i'm assuming he's also a chef at the back? i had to go get the menu my self when i wanted a drink during my meal. i waited what felt like 10 mins to order my drink.

zajiangmian 9/10 flavourful but small portion. asked for it to be a little spicy and dayum i was sweating like michael jackson being grilled about his sleepovers. no complaints here - 100% recommend this dish. the noodles were chewy and fresh.

chaigu noodles - 7/10 didn't deliver on flavour.

peanuts - 8/10 pretty good!

tengjiaoji - 2/10 flavour was good. however only a few bits of meat there. mostly bones. apparently it's supposed to be this way because of how the meat shrinks with the cooking process. it's also made with skinny organic chickens. get this for the taste, not if you expect a chicken breast of meat. and where's the tengjiao peppercorns that is in the picture on the menu, and most other people's photos? we didn't get it. don't know why

over all it's a 5/10

thefoodwas delicious and service was super fast. for starters we ordered mi zhi hua sheng mi (spicey peanuts), liang ban huang gua (cucumber salad with garlic sauce, and ban hai dai si (seaweed salad). all were really decent size and yummy. for mains we had sauteed double cooked pork with vegetable and huai yang xiao chao and rice. very simple well executed dishes. we will definitely be visiting again.

beautifully clean decor makes you feel at home in this lovely restaurant. and thefoodis truly authentic and tasty without being greasy or overpowering - really feels like good quality homemade food, made by someone who really cares about food. the noodle soups are definitely a must try with flavourful soup and perfectly cooked hand made noodles. very impressed also with the great service, and very reasonable prices. will definitely be back soon!

huaiyang is one of the most recent newly open restaurants in dominion road.
i passed by this place before they opened their door, and i thought it would be a cafe because of the decorations of the store. a beautiful cozy sunny house at the corner, i never thought it would be a traditional chinese restaurant!

🍴 the menu is simple and not so big, my friend and me ordered two dishes with rice and a soupy noodles. tbh we didn't have much expectation, but thefoodhere is so good
the soup base for the noodle is full of flavours after brasing for a long time. it's deep and rich on flavours but not greasy at all. as a soup lover i couldn't help taking a sip after another.
teng jiao ji is a very traditional chinese food- chicken with green pepper sauce. instead of just boiled the chicken in water(many restaurants does) and soaked in the sauce, they marinated it first with salt, so you can feel the texture of the chicken is a bit firm, which is very flavorful. they also use the real green peppers instead of buying products from outside

i have been to huai yang twice in the past month with different friends. the ambience is superb for a girl’s night or date after work. with relaxing music and on point decor, you could chat away with your noodles. “a noodle less ordinary” as imprinted on the menu- they are really quite special. the 12 hour chicken and pork broth noodle soup is a must try! i like how there was a lot of vegetables with the noodles too. the only thing is thefoodis on the greasy side. service is attentive and friendly.
