house of curries on florida

on our recent trip to durban we wanted some bunnies. now i have been to hoc a few times and i’ve never been disappointed.......till yesterday

we wanted some take always so we stopped and ordered.

beanbunny- we never received this and my vegetarian daughter didn’t eat
chips and cheese roti - bland and flavorless
chickenbunny- this was actually the best tasting of them all
beefbunny- i found it to be hot, but bland. the potato’s were good
lamb roti - this is a house favorite and i can see why. it was full of flavor and tasted amazing.

service......the lady at the counter was more interested in her phone than in the customer, no wonder she got the order wrong. next time i will have to double check my orders myself before driving off.

visited this slightly eclectic place with some work colleagues as we had a hunger for a curry.

the menu was a little limited in terms of indian food would have really loved some naan but alas.

we had a starter of samoosas which went down beautifully. i had the lamb roti regular but was massive and they still had a large (which is for sharing we were told later). colleagues hadbunnychow which were they raced about.

the drinks were okay.

it’s a place to visit with some friends looking for drinks and a hearty meal.

lovely service, decent atmosphere, below average food.

from thebunnychow to the biryani, it all fell flat. there was heat but no flavor. wouldn't suggest it to anyone.

very good service and food was define will definitely go back for there rottis thebunnychow lamb and briayani lamb was really good. would recommend that you visit for the nice holiday experience

i was really annoyed by how long i had to wait for my drinks. i ordered a mojito and it had not arrived after 30 minutes. i got up and went to the bar instead and got served a drink. the waitress came to my table after another 10 minutes and i told her i no longer wanted the drink. the place was full yes, but the waits were just too long. i had the chicken minibunnychows and they were okay.

the place isn't really worthy of another visit.

i'd heard some good things about house of curries but i must say i had quite an odd experience at this place. it's like a hybrid of a sports bar and indian cuisine take-away spot. i suppose i wouldn't have expected to be eating curry in a bar.

the menu is a bizarre twist on traditional curries with things like a 'chip' bunny... hmmm, anyway - our table ordered a round of roti's and abunnychow. i had the lamb roti, the portions are massive, you're almost guaranteed to take some home with you. but i'm of the mind that size doesn't matter if there's no flavour. two of my friends really enjoyed their meal while myself and my other friend - not so much.

our food was accompanied by rotten carrot relish, which when we raised with the waiter we were met with "i haven't had any complaints". the 'cosmo crush' cocktail i ordered (which was place under non alcoholic) was more coloured vodka with a lemon peel floating in it.

i think it's got the typical atmosphere for any sports enthusiast looking for a beer and a good crowd. but don't expect much if you consider yourself a "foodie".

worst ... worst... worst. you cannot expect worst food than this place. we have ordered vegbunnychow as we heard they served best in durban. but when we started eating it was worst in taste. just a waste of money. i gave them 2 because they have good interior and crowed was just osum.

i give hoc this high rating purely based on the nostalgia is provides!

hoc is a sports bar cum canteen take away. a durban favorite that delivers on flavour and portion size. for r45 the quarter chickenbunnyor roti wrap is value for money. wash it down with a beer whilst watching a sharks game is the pinnacle of evolution.
