first time there - service friendly and efficient. food was delic. salad was soo fresh!!! spaghetti great. hubby had aburgerand fries which was delic. good served hot and fresh!!!

awesome atmosphere. great food. good prices and portions. have been twice on my trips to tennessee. i’ve had the elvisburgerand the cowboy western burger. both very good and flavorful. foodfather approved!!!

somehow we managed to find ourselves over the border into tennessee with a craving for some burgers.  we stopped at hot rod 50’s diner and ordered us up a guacamoleburgerwith a side of grits and a mac & cheeseburgerwith tots. the burgers were both messy and tasty.  they were cooked a perfect medium, juicy and had a good flavor.  just what you want from a burger.  the tots were crunchy and yummy, but the grits failed to deliver.  they were fairly tasteless.  i also ordered a chocolate cherry milkshake to go that was quite delish.  total bill was $24. hot rod 50’s diner 373 hannum st alcoa, tn 865-984-7171 food service atmosphere value filed under: american , burgers , tn rss feed for comments on this post

like a lot!. i drive from west knoxville to maryville to eat at hot rods 50's diner. the only other restaurant i do that for is foothills milling company. i've been eating at hot rod's since it opened. it's owned by a guy named ray who does most of the cooking and must work 80 hours a week. the food is what i come for but the experience is a big plus. the look, the decor and memorabilia are all entertaining and make the meal more enjoyable. they have over 50 ways they can do yourburgerbut the most impressiveburgerto me is the chickenburgerwhere they grind their own chicken to make the patty. with the seasoning they add, i think i like the taste better than a beef burger. my friend steve loves their salmon burger. they do great "buffalo" meals with their spicy buffalo sauce on chicken & burgers. i try to have their beef liver and grilled onions with bacon every month. it's hard to find that done correctly. the menu has something for everyone. it's got fish, italian, cajun and more to go with the classic diner classics you would expect in a diner. i usually find that when menus have too many items that the quality suffers but that doesn't seem to happen there. it's worth the drive and a great place for a family or a date.

something for everyone. there's so much to choose from that it can be slighlty overwhelming trying to narrow down a pick...there's literally something for everyone. the jalapenoburgeris always my go toburgerthough. the jalapeno bottlecaps (fried jalapenos) make the sandwich. pretty much everything i've had is yummy, but i do suggest picking another side besides the french fries. they are pretty blah.

hot rods is good for any hunger level. i've gone here for snacks, full meals, and after dinner desserts.

they also have an e-club where you can get occasional deals and even a coupon for a free meal on the week of your birthday.

they are a small restraunt so be prepaired to sit in a close environment. sometimes it's difficult to eat here with a toddler in a high chair due to the lack of space.
fun environment...neon lights, jukebox, 50's memorabilia.
overall a good place to go.

not only are there tons of different styles ofburgertopings but they also let you get most with a black bean or tofu styleburgeror a perfectly seasoned in house hand made beef patty, which my wife said is as good as it gets.
there are almost as many choices for sides and potatos. fries,chips,tots, rings...
they have a 4 patty challenge and scores of photos on the wall representing the folks who've completed the task in 30 minutes or less.
nice 50's theme and lots of cool little novelties from that era.
friendly staff and great service.
also a wall full of 'add it yourself' condiments.

great greasy spoon, diner fare!. we stumbled upon hot rods about two years ago and love it! the restaurant is clean, the staff is sweet and helpful, and the food is yummy! great milkshakes! burgers to drool over if you're aburgerlover! great kids selection--ours love the hot dog. the regular fries are of the shoestring variety and pretty average; but the ribbon fries and sweet potato fries are both awesome! the thanksgiving day sandwich is just what it sounds like and it's delish!!! we often take our family--visiting from out of town--and they enjoy it, too! fyi--this is no place for a total vegetarian (staff is forthcoming about the yuck factor of their "veggie" options) or for anyone counting calories; but it is a great, occasional treat that our family really enjoys!

a blast from the past!. i had the jalepenoburgerand wife had bacon cheese burger. both were excellent and unbelievably huge; cooked perfectly. potato ribbons are very good as well. tried the banana pudding and i was pleasantly surprised....the best banana pudding i've ever had at a restaurant. wanna go back and try the chicken pot pie and then the breakfast buffet. we loved the 50's music and decor!

yum!!. we drive from kingston to alcoa at least once a month to visit this wonderful diner! the chicken pot pie is to die for! so much flavor! the peanut butterburgeris great for those that like to try something out of the ordinary. even my picky 12 year old son loved this burger! pot roast is better than mom's, open faced roast beef has the best gravy and tender beef. ok...i'm getting hungry for a visit to hot rods soon!!

hot rod's was amazing!!!! my boyfriend and i started with hot hot rod's hot wings and they were amazing!! then we both decided to get the cajun burger, me with bacon and pepper jack cheese and him with swiss cheese. thisburgeris to die for!!!! definitely the most amazingburgerwe've ever had!!!! awesome job hot rod's! awesome job!!!!
