having lived in germany for six years in my younger years, i've always scoffed a bit at cheesygermanbrew houses outside of germany that come across as some odd german-themed disneyland.

star 1: how was the service and atmosphere?

friendly, yes, and the food came relatively quickly, but i was admittedly a bit miffed by the "show". yes, at times the dining atmosphere during oktoberfest can loosely resemble the show you see at hofbrauhaus, but this is very rarely the case. that having been said, i think you come to hbh knowing what you're getting yourself into, and knowing what you're paying for. star granted.

star 2: how were the portions relative to the cost?

why is it thatgermanfood has been turned into this expensive anomaly everywhere outside of the homeland? schnitzle? fries? spaetlze? this isn't expensive stuff, so as you can imagine, i was a bit deterred by the $30 price tag on my pepper steak with wedges.

that's an awful lot to pay for a dish that was 50% gravy. no star granted.

stars 3 and 4: how was the food?

the pepper steak was without question good, but i couldn't help but feel as though a vast majority of the flavor was coming from the gravy as opposed to the actual steak. single star granted.

star 5: would you eat here every day if you could?

i love love love love lovegermanfood, but if you're jacking up your prices because of a carnival-esk atmosphere as opposed to food quality, you're doing it wrong. no star granted.

great authenticgermanatmosphere! tracking shots and getting slapped always makes the trip memorable. food was good, not great, definitely paying for atmosphere. personally, it is way over priced. dinner for 6 with drinks is $200+

great food and a very fun atmosphere. the beer is top notch, food portions are massive, and the service is very friendly. i would definitely recommend this place if you enjoy good music, germanfood, and delicious beer in a liter mug.

off-strip gem. while i don't claim to be an expert ongermancuisine i did grow up eating it and this place really reminded me of the things i loved as a kid. i went there for lunch and enjoyed myself. nice service, nice surroundings and with the added benefit that it wasn't all that busy at the time. i ordered wine, a sausage combo plate and german-style rye and loved it all but the real star of the three sausages i tried were the pork bratwursts. utterly delicious. my main course was 15.99, wine was 7 dollars for a generous glass--so i am a bit confused by the reviews who said this place was expensive. it isn't. and i will definitely go back.

first time visit - feels like i've been before. i've been wantinggermanfood for awhile and in indy you have only three options, and none of them are really spectacular.
i visited this at the suggestion of the client i've been working with this week. and the hotel had a free coupon for a beer with dinner.
normally i'm not a fan of beer, even more so of the darker beers, but i was very surprised with how good the beer was. it wasn't thick and was just a little sweet. all and all it was good enough for me to order the bigger glass. halfway through i was debating if i should have gotten one in das boot.
the meal was traditional and very good, even if i didn't eat the saurkrat.

the thing that made it feel like i've been here before is it feels very much like a traditional duestchland hofbrauhaus, even down to the sitting next to random strangers at a random table.
the music was loud and very traditional, and it was entertaining to watch the trumpet player climbing onto tables and tooting his horn.

i'd recommend at least a singular visit if you come, i know next time in vegas i will probably be back.

2 liter beer, live traditionalgermanmusic, awesome sausage... this place is one-of-a-kind in las vegas and a refreshing change of pace. do yourself a favor and check it out! my only beef with this place is that i wish the pretzels were freshly baked all day long.

heavy food, heavy portions, and heavy on the entertainment. my husband brought me here, because we love german-oktoberfest types of pubs. we have one at home, and go there almost regularly. he told me thisgermanbeer hall would be as close to the real oktoberfest as we would get, and he was right. giant steins of beer, giant portions, and tons of entertainment and fun happening all around us. a great place for large groups. the atmosphere was my favorite part about.
the only thing i have to complain about is not only are the food portions huge, but it is also extremely heavy. a small amount left me feeling like i was going to burst a pile of bricks out of my belly.

great all-around experience. the bad - slightly americanized version of the real deal. in their defense, you can't get every ingredient needed for the real deal in america.

the good - fantastic overall experience. as good as you can get stateside. genuinegermancover band. food prepared as close as you can get here. phenomenal beer. authentic atmosphere.

hofbrau and excellentgermanfood on tap. recently while in las vegas to attend the 2010 sema convention we were afforded the opportunity to visit the hofbrauhaus for lunch...an excellently tasty decision in food and libation if ever we had one while toiling arduously in the desert paradise. one of those iconicgermanbreweries hofbrau is a favorite for any beer drinker either a fan of oktoberfest or the heffeweizen...something that the hofbrauhaus delivers on-tap...epic. the food here is also top notch easily competing with any of the "authentic"germanrestaurants i have sampled in florida. on this occasion i opted to try the münchner schweinebraten, essentially a munich pork roast served with cooked carrots and a breaded dumpling...and covered in a beer infused brown gravy: excellence on a plate. the menu is diverse and everyone in my party thoroughly enjoyed their meals and beers of choice, making this place a definite revisit for next year. well appointed and mostly authentic to it'sgermanroots, particularly by vegas standards this eatery and biergarten provides a terrific environment with which to escape vegas and enjoy a filling meal, good beer and conversation with friends. well recommended.

this place was awesome, delicious food, incredible atmosphere. plus watching my brother and my best friend get spanked by agermanchick was priceless.....yes, you can actual pay to get spanked and then get a free shot of schnapps. over and above well worth the drive. you must go to hofbrauhaus if you are in vegas and if you likegermanfood.
